A Familiar Tangle With Hell

Rate this book
The sizzling sequel to the EPIC Award finalist Being Familiar With a Witch!

Tina and Charun thought it was all over and that their life would be normal--well, as normal as it could be for an immortal Witch and her demon Familiar. Except there was another prophesy, one that laid claim that if Lucifer snatches Tina and mates with her before the last chime before midnight of the new year and gets her pregnant with his son, that the real Armageddon would begin, spelling the end of life as they knew it.

When Tina is stolen away, Charun, along with Jacokb the archangel, must race against time into the bowels of Hell to rescue her. But with demons, Lucifer, and a cute demon bunny with fangs out of a Monty Python nightmare, out to stop them and Heaven not lending a hand, will Tina become the mother of the Antichrist and the start of a new Hell on Earth?

WARNING: Contains some intense scenes of sexuality.

A Familiar Tangle In Hell" was an interesting read. In the first few pages, I wondered if I would enjoy the story, as it seemed a bit on the religious side. I stuck with it and soon threw my trepidation out the window. The sex scenes were graphic and hot. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the demon Familiar Charun and his witch, Tina getting it on. I loved how the author incorporated Greek mythology, portions of the Bible, erotica and romance to create the perfect combination. The descriptions were vivid and it almost felt like I was watching a movie rather than reading a book. There were a few small areas where the story dragged a little but it would soon pick up and I'd be reading faster than my phone could respond. My favorite part of the whole story is the bunny! Once you read the story, you'll understand what I mean.

For anyone who enjoys stories of sex, demons, the Devil, the battle between Heaven and Hell, or just magic and sexy men in general, this could be a story you would enjoy devouring.

After a much needed vacation, this is my first review back. The book to me seemed interesting right off the bat because of the cover. I mean here you have this girl looking like she standing right in the middle of hell and who is next to her? A bunny? I knew there had to be some kind of explanation and I was more than ready to read the book to find out.

To start off this book is most definitely an erotic novel. There are some pretty explicit sex scenes, so if that is not your cup of tea, then I would not recommend this book. However if it is your cup of tea then this book might in fact be the book for you. The books sex scenes are well written and if you are a person who enjoys erotica I am pretty sure this would be a book you would enjoy.

I was also a little bit excited about the biblical origins of this story. The books plot is definitely based in religion as well as having a lot to do with demons. I have recently enjoyed reading books about angels, which have almost always incorporated some level of demons in them. I do enjoy books about demons, and this book was a pretty interesting combination of different ideas into one really enjoyable plot.

I thought the chemistry was really good and well written between Charun and Tina. And if you are thinking like I was how are a bunny and a witch going to get down and dirty, I suggest you read the book to find out, because it works.

The only downsides to this book were that there were parts within the book that lagged. It was never a really bad thing though, the parts that did lag picked up quickly enough for it not to be a huge problem for the reader. I also did notice a couple of editing issues, but they were very minimal and I don't think the average reader would find them annoying enough to matter within the story itself.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. It was a really fun read, and a good way to start after my temporary hiatus from book reading. I think people who enjoy paranormal romance and erotic will enjoy this book. I don't think who have issues with reading graphic sex scenes would enjoy this book, but if you do then this is definitely a book you should check out.

Imaginative and distinct, A Familiar Tangle With Hell stands apart from other Angels vs. Demons Armageddon stories. Bound together through their DNA, the relationship between Tina and her demon, Charun, is much deeper than the standard partnership of Witches and Familiars. Their love for each other grows as the danger increases and the erotic encounters between the two sizzle with explosive magic. Charun’s divine beginnings and demonic status creates a complicated and intriguing character who effectively uses the benefits of his torn existence to not only protect his soul mate but the world as well. After averting Armageddon once and becoming a witch to do so, Tina has honed her skills and is just learning to embrace her new reality when she realizes it is she who is to be the catalyst for Lucifer to wage the ultimate (and possibly final) war between good and evil.

Lucifer, as written by Sapphire Phelan, does not disappoint in all of his sadistic, malevolent, but contrarily sensual pursuit of domination over the heavens and earth. “The Big L” instils fear as well as lust no matter what form he takes throughout the tale. A wide cast of supporting characters on each side of the Good vs. Evil battle create a web of sub plots that adds to, rather than distracts the reader from, the general excitement of the story. From an Archangel turn coat to the fluffy and seemingly harmless soul eating demon bunny, each creature is written with creative vision.

The Holy and Unholy clash at the climax of the story in an epic war, keeps the reader flipping pages furiously. Mortality and all its weaknesses are exploited during the battle, leading the reader on an emotional roller coaster thrill ride. Life will never again be the same for Tina, Charun, or even fluffy, and this book creates a wonderful platform for a continuation to their saga.

Editing oversights and some repetitive dialogue keeps this book from ranking higher during my evaluation, but this book is fantastic read and is a great addition to any paranormal lover’s library.

My Review:

A witch and her demon, what could make a better story? Sapphire Phelan's writing style is suburb. The way she lays out the Underworld, to her fast pace storyline, and the awesome characters she creates. This very steamy romance and hot sex story was a fantastic read. I really enjoy the originality of this series, and I am looking forward to reading any the follows this one.
