This book is inspired by Lord of the Flies, by William Golding. Katie is Ralph, Lori is probably Piggy, Stan and Dan is Samneric, Lizzie is Roger, and Suzzanne is Jack. Suzzanne hates the minnows club and she hates how Katie is chosen for the magic show and how she ruled everything, like how Jack is mortified that Ralph is chosen as chief. Suzzanne later creates her own club which everyone leaves the minnows group to join, which is like how Jack formed a new tribe. Most of the events are like Lord of the Flies, except everything ends happily at the end.

The older I get the more Suzanne annoys me lol. Overall, I think the Super Specials miss out by having two switches because one of them always feels less important. In this case, it was the dolphin switch. If it had been left out I think the book would have been better.

My Katie Kazoo fan daughter and I read this one together. As someone who has never been on a cruise ship, I personally liked the setting and thought it made the book a little more interesting than the usual schoolyard drama (though her toxic friend Suzanne IS the drama).

Still a cute series for early readers but there are parts that get repeated in every book, I could say them without reading them.
