For the first time in paperback, here is the all-in-one "bible" on how to fire up the creative powers of your mind to attain a life of prosperity. The Prosperity Bible is a one-of-a-kind resource that collects the greatest moneymaking secrets from authors across every field-religion, finance, philosophy, and self-help-and makes them available in a single, handy volume. Now reprinted with an affordable paperback price, this is the only volume in which you can explore success advice from Napoleon Hill, P. T. Barnum, Benjamin Franklin, Charles Fillmore, Wallace D. Wattles, Florence Scovel Shinn, and Ernest Holmes-along with a bevy of legendary writers and success coaches who have one aim: explaining and promulgating the laws of winning.
Oliver Napoleon Hill was an American self-help author and conman. He is best known for his book Think and Grow Rich (1937), which is among the best-selling self-help books of all time. Hill's works insisted that fervid expectations are essential to improving one's life. Most of his books were promoted as expounding principles to achieve "success". Hill is a controversial figure. Accused of fraud, modern historians also doubt many of his claims, such as that he met Andrew Carnegie and that he was an attorney.
In the past, I have heard elders in church condemning it as an antithesis of the Christian bible. I decided to read this to make a personal decision about it.
My conclusion is that this is not a book on wishful thinking like it is purported to be by some. It is a book on positive thinking, hard work, planning, building good interpersonal relations, integrity, charity and developing the sixth sense to make a success in life.
Like the Christian bible, the Prosperity Bible is not written by a single author but by various authors over a period of the time (late 1800s to the early 1900s). Its ideas are part of the New Thought Movement that believes in the power of positive thinking to latch on to the universal mind's power - some call the universe mind "God". This is the original motivational book, the basis for the concept of The Law of Attraction, and the basis for the movie and book "The Secret".
As a practising yogi, I understand the importance of positive thinking and emotional management for good health and happiness, as well as the importance of helping the mind to create a state to unite with the universal consciousness (which some refer to as "God"). This is the chief aim of yoga. As someone keen to find out more about the scientific basis of yoga and the power of the mind, I also read literature such as "The Field" which shows that such a thing as universal mind, and the power of the mind is real.
Some of the authors of the Prosperity Bible have interest in yogic ideas and were exposed to the Bhagavad Gita. So there is common parallel between yogic ideas, motivational ideas as well as scientific research. I did not read all the books within, but focused on the key ones. Some of the authors include the famous men like Benjamin Franklin as well as the successful circus owner PT Barnum.
The core ideas I gleaned are:
1. The importance of having a strong one-pointed desire (some call this your life or soul's dream) 2. This has to be infused with strong emotion to give it the vibrational frequency to reach the universal mind (positive emotions of joy, happiness, enthusiasm). 3. Faith and belief that your desire will come true, and that the universal mind's aim to to fulfill your desire, which is also the reason for your existence. You are here to fulfill a dream for the universal mind and make it a reality. 4. The importance of visualisation in detail of your dream being realised as this is a way to send a clear message to the universal mind to help you fulfill your dream. 5. Having courage to initiate action, plan and organise yourself to achieve your dream including acquiring knowledge and networking. 6. Perseverance and courage 7. Allowing the universal mind to give you ideas at your subconscious level to achieve your dream. 8. Gratitude. This puts your soul in touch with the universal mind, which is the source and giver of good things.
Like attracts like. So those who fear, worry, are always angry, jealous will attract similar things into their lives as your mind sends out baser vibrations to the universe. But thoughts on love, hope, enthusiasm are of a higher vibrational frequency and attract good things and people into your life.
Why prayers often do not work? Most of us prayer when we are a afraid, and one of the authors feel that this draws your worst fears into reality. So this teaches us to pray even when times are good - to pray with gratitude, hope and positivity.
I am pleased that I have read this book. No church elder can tell me now that it is an antithesis to the bible. I think it complements the bible.
This 1272 page book is enthralling. It features the writings of: Benjamiin Franklin, Wallace D. Wattles, Napoleon Hill, James Allen, Florence Scovel Shinn among others. As the back cover says, this book is a "one-of-a-kind resource." The idea of prosperity that lies within this book's pages is bigger than notions of monetary wealth. One Ralph Waldo Trine quote reads: "The sense life then no longer masters and enslaves us. The physical is subordinated to and ruled by the mental; this in turn is subordinated to and continually illumined by the spiritual. Life is then no longer the poor, one-sided thing it is in so many cases; but the threefold, the all-round life with all its beauties and ever increasing joys and powers is entered upon."
Im in a self improvement, get out of your rut change your stinking thinking reading program and slowly but surely, I am buying books by these guys. I am a bit surprised that more people aren't trying to flock to these books but thats just me.
A collection of timeless excerpts from some of the world's foremost wealth and prosperity gurus--ranging from Napolean Hill to Andrew Carnegie. This 1,100-page goliath is the quintessential companion to any entrepreneur's collection--joining the ranks of Trump, Kiyosaki, Allen, etc.
To review each of the 19 individual books found in ‘The Prosperity Bible’ would make this review as unwieldy as the book itself; therefore, I will just share some general thoughts about the content as a whole.
Firstly, I think it is important to state that the word ‘Prosperity’ is used in a broad sense. It is used by the authors to not only mean physical wealth, but it also incorporates abundance in other areas of one’s life as well. This is not a compilation of books on ways to get rich quick, rather it is a compilation of books that explore how we can enrich our lives through personal development.
I originally purchased ‘The Prosperity Bible’ because it was precisely the book I had been wishing for: a compendium of material written by some of the early, Personal Transformation/New-age/Self-help authors in one book; however, as the adage warns, “Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it” and that is exactly how I feel about this book now.
Having a book comprised of so many individual works is convenient, and it takes up less room on the bookshelf than 19 individual books, yet it also makes for an unwieldy, 1272 page, three pound behemoth. Carrying the book in your backpack, or trying to hold the book aloft while reading it might save a few reps at the gym, it just didn’t make for an enjoyable read. In addition, in order to save more weight and to reduce the actual thickness of the book, the pages are very thin and can be easily torn. If you like highlighting, be prepared for it to bleed through to the other side of the page.
As far as content goes, with so many books included in one volume it is reasonable to assume that the group will include exceptional books and some lack-luster titles as well and, indeed, that is what I found here. Of the 19 books there were several that I did not enjoy at all, but I felt the majority were well worth the time it took to read them. Even with the occasional book that I didn’t like, at a cost of $15.95 (the price at the time of writing this review) this collection is an exceptional bargain – considering how much the individual books would cost if purchased separately.
For those wanting a list of these individual books, and their respective authors, I will include it here because I did not see it listed in the book summary provided on Amazon: 1) Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill (original 1937 edition) 2) Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell 3) A Message to Garcia by Elbert Hubbard 4) As a Man Thinketh by James Allen 5) The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn 6) The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles 7) Creative Mind and Success by Ernest Holmes 8) Prosperity by Charles Fillmore 9) In Tune With the Infinite by Ralph Waldo Trine 10) The Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel 11) The Secret of Success by William Walker Atkinson 12) The Act of Money Getting by P.T. Barnum 13) The Way to Wealth by Benjamin Franklin 14) The Secret of The Ages by Robert Collier (original 1926 edition) 15) The Conquest of Poverty by Helen Wilmans 16) How to Attract Success by F.W. Sears 17) The Power of Concentration by Theron Q. Dumont 18) How to Grow Success by Elizabeth Towne 19) The Mental Equivalent by Emmet Fox
When it’s all said and done, I am grateful that this book exists because it gave me exposure to many great books that I might not have purchased separately. Anyone unfamiliar with the authors who contributed to ‘The Prosperity Bible’, or for those who want to read the books in an inexpensive format, getting the ‘The Prosperity Bible’ will meet your needs. Personally, once I realized how transformative some of these books were, and how much I disliked reading them in this hulking book, I went out and bought the individual titles that I wanted to re-read.
The rating for this book is actually 3 ½ stars (of course I can’t give half stars with these ratings so I will bump it up to a 4-star rating overall) and it would be derived as follows: Physical Quality = 2-stars (thin paper and the massive size weren’t to my liking) Quality of Content = 4-stars (most of the individual books would merit 4 or 5 stars, with a few warranting 2 or 3 stars) Overall Value/Price = 5-stars (buying all of the individual books would likely cost 10x as much)
The vast majority of these books were a waste of my time and energy. There were a few that I added to my home bookshelf, but all in all I would not recommend anyone to read this. Check out my other reviews for the individual breakdowns of all 19 books.
My rating here doesnt matter with each books contain in this book, for i already rate them individually. The rate is for my gratitude for compiling this long book. Its a long way, more than a year before i could closed the last page.
At over 1,250 hardbound pages, this compilation is the definitive volume of success classic by many of the most widely recognized masters of the genre.
Authors include well known names such as P.T Barnum, Benjamin Franklin, and of course, Napoleon Hill. There are other names that may not be as familiar, except to students of the success classics such as Charles Fillmore, James Allen, Wallace Wattles, Russell Conwell, Robert Collier, Charles Haanel and Ernest Holmes - a veritable who's who.
While this review will not be an exhaustive treatise on the individual books, essays and systems contained in this book, I do want to give the potential reader the ammunition they need to encourage inclusion of this book on their shelves.
Of the 19 works in the book, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill is THE CLASSIC that paved the way for the contemporary guru's of our time, such as Anthony Robbins and others. That work alone would make this volume worth the price of admission.
However, it is some of the lessor known works that really make this a jewel worth it's weight in gold. My favorites include;
"As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen "Masterkey System" by Charles F. Haanel "The Secret of Success" by William Walker Atkinson "The Secret of the Ages" by Robert Collier "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace Wattles "Prosperity" by Charles Fillmore
I have reviewed many of this individual works on Goodreads, and alone they are priceless in the lessons they convey, the "old world" prose that the authors of this day engaged and the timeless truths of who we are and what we are capable of as human beings made after the image of a mighty Creator.
As the author of several books on success, sales and life mastery, I ingest a steady diet of books on the subject. I have read 100's of success books, mainly the classics, and this thick volume is a "one stop shop" for anyone needing a life manual.
If my home was on fire and my expansive library of physical books (still love them...even with an overflowing e-reader!) I would grab my vintage Bible...and this book.
This Volume has 19 books in it as listed below. I recommend the book to anyone seeking to learn how to empower themselves in the game called life. Once you open this book there's a treasure of knowledge on how to play the game of life and win. 1) Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill (original 1937 edition) 2) Acres of Diamonds by Russell H.
