伯爵と妖精恋人は幽霊 (Earl and Fairy: Ghost Lover)is the fourth novel in the Earl and Fairy series.
I really really love this series. I'm infatuated with the characters and the story and the writing style. This japanese book series about Lord Edgar Ashenbert and his reluctant fiancé and fairy doctor Lydia Carlton is just endearing. Anyway, in Earl and Fairy: Ghost Lover, Lydia is kidnapped (again)! During a soirée, the ghost of a dead girl then suddenly inhabits her body. The ghost girl, Theresa, is the daughter of an old and rich lady, who always wished to bring her daughter back to life and is incredibly happy to see her again, even though Lydia's body doesn't look like her daughter at all. The old lady's biggest wish was for her daughter to marry the love of her life and live happily ever after, so she chose a few suitor's for her. Lord Ashenbert is one of them, but how come he isn't Edgar? Is someone pretending to be Lydia's fiancé? And most importantly: will Edgar come and save poor Lydia from marrying?
Ghost Lover is an enjoyable read, in wich we encounter Ermine, who was supposed to be dead, and Ulysses, the evil right hand of the mysterious Prince. It was a delighting read I would recommend to anyone able to read Japanese.
Ulysses first appearance! I enjoyed this volume a lot (ten years ago I have it three stars), I really liked seeing how Edgar and Lydia’s relationship is progressing and how he’s starting to realize that she is actually someone important to him and not just because of her abilities but because he is better when he’s with her.
