USA Today Best-selling author Ruth Hartzler spends her days writing, walking her dog, and thinking of ways to murder somebody. That's because Ruth writes cozy mysteries and adventures. She is best known for her archaeological adventures, for which she relies upon her former career as a college professor of ancient languages and Biblical history.
Abigail and Riley are sent on what she thinks is a wild goose chase. But as expert as Abigail is on artifacts and ancient civilizations, she doesn't know everything. As always, Vortex is on their trail. But the real charm of the series is more than a wonderful way to learn about ancient civilizations. The books are divided between present time and the thrilling chase to beat the bad guys and discover great antiquities, and the past. Specifically the time in civilization when the artifact was important. That part of the book, absolutely fascinating, is like living history.
Such detailed characters and vivid descriptions of ancient times are far more exciting than any textbook or class. The lives of the people, the cities around them, the foods, the caste systems become real. Abigail and Riley's experiences are equally exciting, as they act like the popular conception of such spies as James Bond, but without so many gadgets. The contrast between the years makes readers aware of the history that surrounds us in our own lives.
This might have been my favorite in the series thus far. It certainly is an important book for learning more about agencies looking for these relics. I was surprised in both the ancient times and the modern times stories! Fantastic book!
Dr. Abigail Spencer is a historian who helps the Relic Taskforce Hunters identify and hopefully recover important pieces from the Ancient Hebrew and Greek treasures from the Biblical timeframe. Or at least keep them out of the hands of Vortex. All she really wants is one, just one uninterrupted date with Agent Jack Riley.
A fun story with a believable mix of two stories of fictional but historically correct characters from the time shortly after Mt. Vesuvius eruption woven together with characters from the present timeframe looking for historical artifacts from the 70AD era and even earlier. This time there trying to chase down a ring once owned by King Solomon himself.
Another great story from Ruth Hartzler with defined characters and lots of action and some humor. I almost fell out of my chair laughing at the attempts being made to get Abigail and Riley’s attention at the end of the book. If you like Ritter Ames Bodies of Art, or Lee Dobbins Kate Diamond series? You will definitely enjoy this series also.
Sigil is Book 4 in the Relic Hunters Taskforce Series by Ruth Hartzler.
Abigail and Riley are back on a case for the Relic Hunters Taskforce, and have to go to Corinth to look for the stolen Seal of King Solomon, with only a picture to identify it!
This book is full of amazing characters in the story and is completely believable as it has been wonderfully researched by Ms Hartzler. I couldn't put it down and had to finish it in one reading! I got to learn the identity of the head of Vortex, and also that Abigail and Riley always get interrupted in their dates by the RHTF people or by Vortex people.
This has been another really fun and interesting story to read of the Relic Hunters Taskforce Series, full of history, humor, action and romance. This is the kind of books I love. 5 stars for Sigil.
This is an interesting story. Even though it is fiction there is a lot of research and facts regarding the 70 AD timeline. It has a dual timeline with very well developed characters in both times. And the descriptions of these towns, well, you feel like you are there. Non-stop adventure, a lot of history and a bit of humor make this a fantastic read! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Abigail and Riley are back on the job searching for the Seal of Solomon which Abigail doesn’t believe really exists. This book mixes the story of the original Seal of Solomon set in Greece and the story of the modern-day search for the Seal. Both stories are enjoyable. This series is like Indian Jones light. I enjoy it.
This is a wonderful book in one of my favorite series. The Relic Hunters Taskforce has Abigail and Riley searching the ruins of Greece for the Seal of Solomon to prevent Vortex, an evil organization, from finding it. Alternately, Anna who lives during an early century of Greece, receives some astonishing news. I am excited to be reading this series and look forward to the next book.
