The words of this sage,Sri Ramana Maharshi still flame out in my memory like beacon lights."I pluck golden fruit from rare meetings with wise men" wrote Emerson in his diary, and it is certain that I plucked whole basketfuls during my talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi. Our best philosophers of Europe could not hold a candle to him.. --Paul Brunton This introduction by Paul Brunton should induce any seeker to understand Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. This book was first published in Telugu language in the year 1936.This was one of the three biographies of Sri Bhagavan published during his bodily life time.Perused and corrected prsonally by the great sage himself this book is a must for every follower of Sri Ramana Maharshi.
The book is a biography Ramana Maharishi was a sage who lived in the first half of twentieth century, who recommended jnana vichara (self enquiry) as a path to self realisation. The book is very neatly written, choronicling the life of the sage and the people around him. Since it is one of the three biographies that were written at the time when the sage lived, the book provides a rather first hand account of the life of the swami and the also the ascetics who lived in the Arunachala.
This book traces the life of Bhagawan Sri Ramana Maharishi from his birth to samadhi. It is written in a lucid style with focus on events surrounding his life without exaggeration. The anecdotes sprinkled all through the book are remarkable in that they throw light on the greatness of this saint. It is a must read for anyone interested in Vedanta and on saints in India in general.
