He never loses control and she always tests the rules.
Chief Deputy Mike Gabel is the man in charge in Apple Trail. No one gives him more trouble than a certain blonde. While her stunts are frustrating to deal with, it’s the constant way she keeps him trapped in knots.
Tiffany McBride has a reputation for being a trouble maker. She’s been betting and causing trouble since her parents died when she was a teenager. What looks like a young woman sewing her oats, it’s actually desperate measures to gamble for extra money to put food on the table.
When these two acknowledge their attraction, sparks fly…that is if Mike’s public position can survive Tiffany’s frowned upon reputation.
Keri Ford brings sexy contemporary romance to the American South. With a sprinkling of men in suits and women in high heels, you’ll most likely find four-wheeler riding, ball cap wearing fellas trying to sweet-talk sundress wearing ladies in Keri’s books. Glass of sweet tea at your elbow while you read is not required, but strongly recommended.
Keri Ford is a new author to me and she hooked me with Making Her Nights. I don't know what took me so long to read this book. I absolutely LOVED it!! A short~fun~sexy read!! I fell in love with Tiffany and Mike right from the start. They were so cute together. She had a history of causing trouble and he was the uptight hottie sheriff who was always helping her out. I was totally entertained through out the story and I didn't want it to end. Loved the ending and can't wait to read the rest of the series and hopefully read more about Tiffany and Mike. Definitely in my keeper pile to be reread.
"She(Tiffany)finally, for the first time in her life, got the hug she'd been needing so damn bad under this tree. From Mike." *sigh*
I don't know what it is with me lately and the books I read feeling incomplete.
He was another example. I am not ashamed to say that I picked this up hoping it would help me with the wait for Shalvis' next Lucky Harbour novel involving a cop and 'troubled' woman. I got my fix, but I don't feel like this story really resolved everything it could have.
There is a great story built here. The H/h have great tension and play well off each other. The heroine has interesting problems and is just a great character to read about. The Hero is your expected cop which was perfect for this book. I love how the plot progressed.
I didn't feel like the heroine's issues and fears were properly addressed though, and felt like the HEA was a bit unexpected in terms of level of devotion. The book takes place over a week, the ending is a bit farfetched. But most of all, the heroine has shame issues and those issues are never resolved. I looooooove shame issues. Love Love Love because the resolution is so sweet, it just hits the spot. But her shame wasn't really acknowledged and it left me feeling a bit empty.
This was a good enough addition to the series and it looks like the next book's heroine will be great (judging from the preview at the end of the book). I can't wait!
I liked how the author set up the long-standing attraction between the hero and heroine but really would have liked an epilogue to see how their story turned out weeks or months after the end of the story.
Tiffany McBride has quite a reputation in the small town of Apple Trail, Arkansas. Growing up, she pulled a lot of pranks and was very much the dare devil. Even now as an adult, Chief Deputy Sheriff Mike Gable is always pulling her out of scrapes. He is always crowding in her space, making sure she stays safe. When he sees her trying to swim the width of a large river, just to win a $60 bet, he says enough is enough. Tiffany has always pushed him to the edge of control, with the constant teasing, and daring. Mike wants to keep her safe, because he has feelings for her. But Tiffany’s reputation is so bad, he has tried to keep his distance, so he can keep his reputation as deputy sheriff clean.
And to Tiffany, Mike has always been a boring, uptight shadow – except, she has always been attracted to him. It started in high school, and never let up.
What Mike comes to discover is that Tiffany has changed since her wild days as a young adult. After her parents and her cousin’s parents died in a car accident when she was 16, Tiffany has had to find a way to live. And if that means winning a $60 bet so she can put food on the table, then that is what it takes. But their attraction to each other is too much and too strong to keep them apart any longer.
Making Her Nights is my favorite of Keri Ford’s so far. I’ve read her three previous Apple Trail novellas and enjoyed all of them for the most part. But this one has really great sexual tension, very likable characters, and some funny dialogue that made me laugh. This book is filled with a lot of boners, and bouncing breasts, and tight jeans. Usually when I read a book like this, where most of the emphasis (dialogue, conversations, thoughts) rest on just sex, I get put off. It is too much. But, not in this book. It really worked for me. I think it is because her characters were instantly likable to me. They made me laugh right away, so the constant – “omg my cock is going to explode” thoughts amused me as well. They have witty banter, and she writes the sexual tension so well I couldn’t wait for them to actually have sex. Which leads me to my one niggle (okay I have two but we’ll start with the first niggle) – the sex scene we get isn’t long enough for me. Such a great build up – I even give props to waiting until pretty far into the book to have the sex scene, but it was kind of short. It starts really hot (REALLY HOT with a garden hose) but ends too quick for me.
My other niggle is the end – the declaration of love didn’t make sense in such a short amount of time (just a few days). I would have been happy with this book ending with them deciding to just be together. Dating would make much more sense than wrapping everything up for their entire future together.
Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book. Keri Ford has a really cute voice and writes characters that you will enjoy very much. I can’t wait for her next one to come out next month.
Keri Ford continues her Apple Trail series with yet another endearing tale or romance with an everyday feel. This quick, afternoon read will make you smile. It’s a sweet tale of adoring love with mutual respect.
Mike has an important job to do. Apple Trail may not be a big city but as Sheriff he is in charge of the welfare of his townspeople. Unfortunately that makes him the bad guy In Tiffany’s eyes. Tiffany is constantly hopping from one mistake to the other and it’s Mikes duty to make sure she doesn’t get hurt. No matter how good she looks while pulling her stunts.
Tiffany doesn’t pull her stunts just for the fun of it. Well anymore. It’s a means to put food on the table. To pay the bills. Not that anyone has ever stopped to find that out. Mike certainly never has. Until the night they make the bet. Tiffany will behave during the day if she can have Mikes night. Innocent enough. And then they were alone…..
I’ve said it before…I will say it again…Keri Ford is uber talented. Making Her Nights was a quick easy afternoon read that improved my mood and left me heaving a little sigh of contentment. Keri writes with a fluidity that just feels like a girlfriend telling someone a story. Her quirkiness definitely comes through in the attitudes of her characters. They often find themselves in funny situations that had me chuckling.
I enjoyed Tiffany a lot. She had this hard exterior that had people thinking she was a trouble maker. I felt for her that for so long no one even attempted to look past her exterior. Until Mike. She was mouthy and adventurous and I’m thinking I know why I like her so much. We are a lot a like. Anytime some hunky Sheriff wants to come sweep me off my feet, I’m game (Oops hope hubby isn’t reading this). Sadly for me I GRADUATED with our Sheriff’s SON and soooooo….well…..I will just leave it at that.
Mike was scrumdidiliumptous. I was in love. He was sweet and understanding when he finally got Tiffany to open up. His tenacious attitude when pursuing her was great too. That boy was going to get his woman not matter what anyone, especially Tiffany, said. It was nice to see him unravel and loosen up.
Making Her Nights is an awesome addition to an awesome series that you should be reading. Keri Ford has a knack for making me space out and totally enter the books she has written. Something about them is just so real, so natural. I say it every time, but with each book it just gets better. If towns like Apple Trail exist, I want to live there. To live in a small town where everyone is called neighbor and friend. Where life moves just a bit slower and the grass is just a bit greener. Love truly can occur in the most unlikely of places and everything does turn out for the best.
Tiffany has a reputation in Apple Trail, no not that kind (get your mind out of the gutter)! She will take a dare for money, she pulls pranks, and most of all she drives the Chief Deputy Sheriff Mike Gable crazy. (We saw a little bit of this in the beginning of In The Hay (book3) and I was hoping for their story.)
In Tiffany’s eyes, Mike is to set in his ways, uptight, and very self controlled. To controlled, and Tiffany has had an attraction to him since high school, but because of his position of authority and her wild reputation she knows there is no way their two lives will intersect.
While out on lake patrol Mike finds Tiffany doing something he considers extremely dangerous and he stops her and of course lectures her. During this he comes to realize why Tiffany does the things she does and sets out to help her. He offers her a temporary position in his office and things really start to heat up.
I really liked this book, I would have loved it but I felt the ending could have been done better. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely a HEA but it seemed rushed. Once again, Keri has given us characters that have a history. At first these two seem to be total opposites but deep down they are more alike than even they realize. In this book, the couple doesn’t immediately get together so there is a lot of sexual tension and some really funny lines. While the sex scenes are good, the first one ended way too quickly for my tastes especially with the way it started. It was so hot!
All in all this book was fun, poignant, and of course sizzling. What I loved most of all was how despite the length of this book, the characters grew and changed. Keri has the uncanny ability to make you want to pack your bags and head to Apple Trail, Arkansas and move right in. Can’t wait for the next installment!
The most infallible and responsible man in town finds himself irrevocably drawn to the most rebellious and beautiful woman in town.
Mike has kept his lustful urges for Tiffany in check for many years realizing that to expose that part of himself would most likely bring nothing but trouble. His reputation is on the line, but that doesn’t stop him from keeping an eye out for her and pulling her from plenty of fires. However, the fires of his desire for her burn brighter than ever when he once again rescues her from making another mistake only to be faced with the truth behind her behavior. The past can’t be erased and pushing for more with her during an election year isn’t a good idea, but Mike isn’t going to settle for anything less.
Tiffany has her reasons for the mischief she brings the town of Apple Trail. She may seem selfish and all about the fun and games, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Mike has for a long time been a constant in her unpredictable life and although the annoyingly straight-laced chief deputy has hindered some of her antics, she’s about to show him how good it can be to be bad.
Ms. Ford brings us another sizzling uninhibited novella. I loved every moment of sexual tension that played out between Mike and Tiffany. Nothing came quite so easily for the pair, which was refreshingly believable. The storyline did feel a bit bigger than the pages allowed for and the ending felt a bit rushed, but nevertheless it is an intense quick read.
I have been anxiously awaiting to get my hands on this book. I have been so lucky to have been given the chance to read each book Keri Ford has written for this series. This one was no let down either. In my weeks of waiting and finally loading it on my e-reader, then finally getting lost in it, I was satisfied. In fact, Keri's humor continues to grow. While reading this book, I spit my coke out. Keri knows how to weave a tale of two characters so hot for one another and then brings you to the point of falling on the floor laughing.
In this book, Mike gets his turn. In past books, Mike has been there in the background since he is police chief of this small town. One girl has driven him crazy for years, and she happens to be one of those who causes the most trouble, Tiffany McBride. Mike is a very controlled man, who does everything by the book. Tiffany breaks him down. I do have to say, I saw a side of him I hadn't expected in the intimate scenes. However, I am not giving that away, just like I am not giving away what make me spit my coke out.
I believe the next book in this series will be out in August. I am super excited about this one since the main girls name is Rebecca. I can't see what kind of trouble she gets herself into, especially since there was a small excerpt in the back of this book.
Keri has done it again. She has made me fall in love with Apple Trail and it’s occupants all over again. In Making Her Nights we get to learn more about the towns Chief Deputy and the one woman who makes his life hell. Both as a officer of the law and a man. Tiffany is a girl just trying to keep her head above water. That is until Mike Gabel completely unravels her resolve.
If you have not read any of Keri’s Apple Trail series books I highly recommend them
Another hot novella in the Apple Trail series. I am really liking these books! The author gives plenty of background on the characters, develops the story quite nicely considering the books are kinda short. I didn't feel cheated at all and I liked it! The steam factor is pretty high too! ;) That's always a bonus!
I like the premise of this story, uptight cop and wild girl, but the delivery was somewhat lacking. The buildup was good, but once they had admitted their attraction it fizzled out for me. I wanted more instant passion rather than calmly talking about it.
I'm like a broken record...loved this one too. Mike and Tiffany were hot, hot, hot! Once Mike let go, there was no stopping him. I highly recommend anything by this author.
Better writing in these 3 than the previous 3 books, but same complaint: too abrupt an ending and too short - it left you hanging and slightly unsatisfied.
