This book was a pleasant surprise! I was dreading the methodology course I had (and still have) to take at university for my psychotherapist license but my teachers did a great job in selecting this book as the course literature.

The authors are very aware of the apprehension most psychologists feel when faced with the necessity to learn about or perform research and they handle this apprehension very well by taking a calm, pedagogical and human approach to the subject.

Not only do they explain things very well, making the book a relatively easy read, but they also include lots of background information that, at least in my case, really motivated me to keep reading. What I mean is that they give you a historical, philosophical and political background for science and research that makes the read interesting since it gives the reader a context from which to understand what they are writing about. In fact there were 1 or 2 chapters that didn't feel like school literature at all but rather like the type of non fiction I might want to read in my free time.
