This is extremely basic information, and the first part of the book reads like an introduction to what henna and mehndi are, which you probably already know before you read The book The recipe info is fairly standard. The patterns are a mix of modern, new age, and traditional Indian and North African. I would have enjoyed less of the new age content. It's a good start for an absolute beginner, but more experimentation with recipes and line drawing will likely be necessary.

I honestly only used this for drawing references for my journal, which served its purpose!
