Chronologically the second book in the series as Kevin (now a Count) is back, and so are the Amazon and the Fairy. Kevin is looking for a wife, and he and bard Naitachal go off undercover to meet his potential bride. Meanwhile Naitachals clan of evil Dark Elves are trying to capture him and bring him to 'justice' for having betrayed his kind by turning to the light. The dark Elf Queen has set up a gate to recapture him, but the spell goes wrong, leaving whorls of the gate floating around the forest and sending people through them (confusing I know)
Kevin ends up captured by the dark Elves, and Naitachal, along with Kevin's bride-to-be, the old crew and an Arachnia invade the Dark realms to get him back. Fun but confusing. Nice to see Kevin etc again though.

I think Josepha Sherman writes some of the best fantasy, because she gets you so caught up in the story, that you don't even notice the time going by. This little adventure is like all her work, lures you in, makes you laugh, gets you excited, and thrills with the unexpected.
