Struggled a bit with rating this one, not because it's bad, but simply because I have the memory and nuance of the original movie (or at least the nuance of Sam Elliott's grumpy performance - there was no "chuckling" or "laughingly" to be had, I assure you) to compare it to. Still, this is a fine version maintaining the basic plot and beautifully illustrated.

I loved this story when I was a little girl and now I get to share it with my daughter, who also loves it.

Just a little too much pulling on the heart-strings to make it a 5 star but I bet I read it again next year.
