All his life Jochen has had one dream and one dream only—to become a professional hockey player. Now after years of hard work, he’s close to his goal. Well…maybe a better term would be “almost there” since he’s playing for a minor league team and is barely making a livable wage. Still, he’s not complaining since he feels like it will only be a matter of time before he’s called up to the NHL. He just needs to make sure that he doesn’t allow any distractions to get into his way.
Then a huge distraction plows into his life when Jochen volunteers to help out a summer youth clinic. There he meets Rebel, a very sexy, cute and tempting goalie. The problem is both of them are deep in the closet. They both fear that coming out could hurt their careers. Besides all they’re doing is having a little fun on the side and they don’t feel like it anybody’s business. Then just as they least expect it, their secret comes out in the most explosive way possible, forcing Jochen to admit just how much Rebel means to him. Will their love be able to survive the fallout, or will they lose everything they ever wanted?

Jochen is forced to spend the summer working at a goalie camp for kids to make some money, even though he'd not a goalie. He's upset at first to find out his roommate is one of the Cougars, the evil team, no matter how cute he is. However once he gets to know Rebel he realizes he's not like the others and before long they have agreed to a sex-only relationship on the down-low. However Rebel breaks the rules and falls for Jochen. Just as they are planning to come out, some website gets pictures of them making out in a car and blows the story wide-open, leaving Rebel rejected by his family and losing his job on his team. There's a D/s bent to their relationship in the bedroom and I did like both guys. It's a cute story about two players, who in this case, other than Rebel's family have a lot of support for their relationship.
This was short and sweet. A nice story. As per the previous book, there is fear that being gay will impact the ability to have a professional hockey career with the NHL which results in the characters hiding their sexuality.
The setting is a hockey clinic where Jochen and Rebel are spending the summer coaching kids. After discovering they are both gay, they agree on a summer romance, no strings attached. But feelings start to be involved and they have to face the ramifications when their relationship is discovered.
Sad to see Hawks go (to sidelines), but that was time, otherwise it'd be a tad unrealistic to have so much gay players in one team ))))
I'm usually not very interested in very young characters, but here I liked both Jochen and Rebel. Nice story and guest starring from Sergei and Trey was good to see )))
Hockey and romances blend together to make a entertaining love story. Rebel and Jochen are both young men with big dreams of making it into the NHL but coming out as gay could through a wrench into their plans. I really enjoyed how at first meeting both been were attracted to one another but past actions caused Jochen to jump to the wrong conclusion about Rebel. They work through their difference and start a secret relationship. Like most things it doesn't go as plan when love rears its head. Rebel is a only nineteen and I was impressed with this characters ability to push all doubts aside to tell Jochen how he feels. I was even more shocked when Jochen confused that he felt the same way. When Rebel and Jochen's decision to come out as a couple is taken away from them, its Jochen who becomes Rebels rock to lean on. The dynamics of this due was perfect. Both had strong personalities but in private Rebel was the submissive to Jochen's dominance. This was a couple was I rooting for to overcome rejection and predigest to be together.
It also had its funny moments as well. Rebel being younger than Jochen at times pushed his buttons but all in good humor. I never read the usage of asshat so much but so appropriately used.
This couple had its ups and downs but never once did either one think of giving up. I loved that in a love story because some things are worth fighting for no matter the cost.
Blind Pass was a supper fast read that kept me glued to the very end. This is on of my favorite series and I would highly recommend this book to all readers. Its part of the Blue Line series but could be read as a stand alone. But the three previous books are just as great. Very enjoyable reads!
Story of Johan, who made a very brief appearance in the previous book, and Rebel, helping at a hockey sumer camp and finding each other. Whilst the story flowed like the others I didnt get into these 2 characters the same as the others in the previous books - maybe they were too nice for me! Still, a good, enjoyable short story with lots packed in.
3.5 stars I wish this was longer and the relationship between Rebel and Jochen explored a some more. Afterall, they went from firmly closeted to deciding to build a lasting relationship and to come out and we didn't really see how they got there aside from they fell for each other.
I loved Jochen and Rebel. It was great to have these 2 meet outside of their usual circumstances (playing hockey on their respective teams) and be able to put aside prejudices and become friends. Great story.
The next in the series and I think this was my favourite. I like snarky boys so the 'dislike turns into hot sex turns into love' trope is on the top of my list of go-to scenarios. Would read this one again.
I thought it was a pretty good book...my only real complaint was that it was too short to feel that the build up to these two men loving each other was authentic; I felt rushed.
The book overall was pretty good, but it didn't wow me. While it had and emotional depth, I think it was a bit rushed. Still, it makes a great addition to the series.
