Great story, fast moving search for treasure

It was that name which prompted this investigation into the past. Travis’ great-grandmother had told him that the first of the Christian family had been a swashbuckler from the isle of Barbados.

Fun

Fun stories! Book 1is good in a historical fiction way, with a bit of a sad ending. Then book 2 is a treasure hunt with some wild twists and turns. Overall fun stuff.

This book was promising and had its compelling moments, but it had a few too many flaws. An interesting concept - two different books taking place three hundred years apart. The first book told of the burying of pirate treasure in the seventeenth century, the second told of the unearthing of it in the twentieth century. I liked the first book better than the second. Midway through the second book, the author broke from telling an action adventure story into the metaphysical, and that's where it became ridiculous. He then started to shovel it on, overly thickly, with over-written prose and magical mumbo-jumbo! I would have enjoyed the books more if the author had merely hinted at the 'mystical connections' between the two stories, rather than ladling it on in explicit detail. I liked the adventure story, I didn't like the 'magic.'

Michael Reisig has taken two pulp adventures and combined them in this enjoyable experience. The Brothers of the Sword is a rousing tale of pirates and friendship between three men and a woman in the Caribbean over three hundred years ago. You can not help but feel like you are there and root for these hero's adventures. The second tale takes place in modern times and is the story of some modern day adventurers who search for the treasure from the first story. As the tale continues we learn about eternal friendship and how the wheel of time spins. There are great hero's and villains in this story. I am remained of the early pulp fiction stories by L Ron Hubbard. It is a clean wonderful adventure for all ages.

Having read Reisig's Key West trilogy, a disaster story, and a sci/fi military tale, I found this gem. Really two novels in one, linked through more than three hundred years. The first book is a swashbuckling tale of pirates in the Caribbean in the late 1600's and the second is a swashbuckling tale of pirate treasure and voodoo in the Caribbean in the recent past. Reisig has the ability to describe a scene in such detail that it seems to be painted with words. The characters are rich and believable. I highly recommend any and all of his books for anyone who enjoys action packed adventure.

Michael Reisig melds together historical facts with modern entertainment in this, one of his best stories yet. Combining an historical item from 1663 with a yarn set in 1980 Reisig crafts a damn fine story that I couldn't put down. It has plenty of action spread over many characters, including swashbuckling saber and cannon fights with Spanish Galleons, to exciting shootouts with Cuban navy boats and Haitian voodoo priests. This book has it all. If you don't take the time to read this book, you will deprive yourself of one of life's finer pleasures.

Loved this book. The "connected-across-time" theme was well done and lest you think time-travel, it's not. Descriptions were good and made me visualize the locations and feel the characters' pain and anguish. Will probably read it again.

Great story

Really enjoyed the story (ies) . I usually prefer scifi but this story was interesting and entertaining. I recommend this book for anyone who likes adventure with a touch of strangeness.

OK but lacks something

Most of the 3 is for the first book. The second story is trite, wordy, and mostly implausible. Won't read another.

Entertaining!!!!!

I loved the "circle of life". But I was upset that they had to lose the treasure. I would have been more upset if they hadn't survived for the next adventure.

It was pretty good

Unfortunately, it was a little long for me. Kinda lost interest after awhile. Might have been better as two separate books.

An interesting plot, but I dont come close to buying it. Combining reincarnation and faith just doesnt work for me.
