When Vivian decided to organize a hunt she thought it was a good idea. Now that is happening, she is second guessing her decision. All is not as it appears to be though as some of the guests have ulterior motives and one she is trying to trust betrays her.

This story was a bit different than the first book as it is told from different perspectives of the seethe members. The story is like a spider spinning a delicate web. I am always thrilled to find a book that is not predictable and surprises me. Another great read from C.J. Ellisson.

Just finished the second book in the V V Inn vamp series. I really love this series. It has everything I look for in a good paranormal series...vampires & werewolves mostly. Well, this one had plenty of excitement in the hunting of a criminal, supplied by the Tribunal. Dria & Rafe soon are wondering if this whole "hunt" was such a wise decision. There were many times I was agreeing with them.

The story takes place at the Alaskan resort owned by married couple Dria (vamp) & Rafe (human). This time around the resort is playing host to both vampires and werewolves. Mixing the two isn't always a good idea, however they all behaved other than a few nasty comments like...."bloodsuckers" or "smelling like a wet dog"! Don't worry though there was also a very large portion of steamy hot love scenes.

I was really touched with the dedication at the end of the book. The author cleverly used the names of a few friends and relatives for her characters. Even with a family tragedy, she was able to finish this wonderful book for us all to enjoy.

I recommend this series to those who like nice light hearted vampire stories with just a bit in the scary department. Lots of strong relationships are being built among these people along the way.

I look forward to the next book in this series Big Game.

Really enjoyed this book! It was a very clever and smart way of telling a story from several characters point of view. The story was seamlessly passed between each person and I had no trouble keeping up with who we were with at any given point. From seeing what Rafe and Jonathan truly think about each other, to inside the mind of Paul who was recently turned, it was very enlightening. Asa was a joy to learn more about, as was Drew.

I would highly recommend this book as a follow up to the first and actually enjoyed it more. Will now be reading the third book in this series.

So many books to review and so little time. I loved this book, it out shined the first one in the series and was just fast paced and exciting. C.J Ellisson can do no wrong when it comes to her take on Vampires and wear wolfs. They are hot, smart, and strangely human. Come take a ride with them through the frozen tundra and you will see what I mean. Great work!!!

This story is all about hunting Emiko, a deadly ninja vampire. She was accused of murder and exposing vampires to humans. The VV Inn is hosting the first official Hunting a rogue vampire for sport. It's deadly and lots of mysteries come to light. And we get some new members to the Seethe( a vampire family).

Not really a "romance" or even "romantica" -- More of a light drama with a hint of mystery, a touch of action, and lots and lots of sexy times. 4/5 Stars, full review to follow in participation with a blog tour.

This is an awesome series by a wonderful Authoress, C.J. Ellisson.

"It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent that survives, it is the one that is the most adaptable to change."- Charles Darwin

This is the quote that really best describes the series and its characters. The series centers around the vampiress Vivian, her human husband Rafe and her wolf-man to call Jonathan. There are a number of really well thought out and delicious secondary characters that add to the well rounded series that makes you root for them along with Vivian, Rafe and Jonathan.

Vampire Vacation:
The book starts off in Alaska, where Vivian ( a 500 hundred year old vampiress) owns and operates a unique specialty resort that caters to a clientele that has certain.... needs. The story line starts up that Vivian and Rafe are doing last minutes preparations for the rooms that the clients will inhabit during their stay. While they are doing the checks Vivian finds a body that has obviously been murdered. While the main characters try to solve the mystery, they also have the unique clientele that make it a bit difficult. With some friends and frenemies, the
The book has a characters that you can relate too, and find humor, steamy sexy romance, as well as a story line that can hold your attention and just draw you in to the beautiful world of Vivian and the lives around her in a place that she has made to adapt to her long life. The store is told in the first person, as Vivian.

The Hunt:
The 2nd book in the series, continues in Alaska at the Inn that Vivian, Rafe and Jonathan own and run. During the first book you find out what type of clients that come and stay at Vivian's resort. From the guests that stayed there, they had fun solving the mystery and so with the right incentive the 'governing' body of vampire convinces Vivian to allow a Specialized event on the property. To hunt not an animal, but a rogue vampire who has done some 'bad' things that have it necessary to kill her. However instead of just giving her the final goodbye, the invite all sorts of baddies to come and take part in the old traditional way. By the end of the hunt, news of enemies and conflicts arise, and what Vivian and her family plan to do.

Some new family members join Vivian's team and you find out who her friends are and who are not. This is was written in a new style to me as a reader. I have read several books in the first person, but this one delves into each of the main characters and the story is told in their accounts. You get to hear not only in Vivian's words, but in Rafe and Jonathan's too.

Big Game:
The 3rd book in the series has Vivian and her family traveling away from Alaska, to their summer home located in South America. From the disturbing news that we learn in book two, we find out that some more digging and delving need to happen to prepare Vivian and family to stop her enemies from killing and wiping them all out. The book is told in the first person again and CJ has continued telling it in the eyes of each of her family members.
We learn allot about the history of Vivian and the hardship that she has gone thru to to come out on top. We also learn to what lengths Vivian and Rafe go thru to remain true to each other and the depth of their love.

Deaths Servant:
in this prequel you learn who Jonathan really is. How this hunky werewolf went from one pack to loner to Vivian's Wolf to call. Jonathan wasn't always a groundskeeper of wolves. He fell in love/lust and had a traumatic experience trying to rescue the woman he wanted to have a relationship with. In this story you find out how honorable Jonathan is and what he does for those he cares about.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These books are such a wonderful read that just as soon you start them you just cannot put them down. I love them! I am constantly checking to see when the next installment of the story line is and to see what great fun and sexy intrigue and friendships arise from the interaction of its characters. By giving each of the characters, who play a huge part in the overall story line, C. J. has added a depth to the whole plot of her series that makes it hard to put down. It draws you in and you don't want to be let go when you reach the end.
I hope that you like my review and follow thru with the books. Read them and love them!
THE HUNT (Vampire Vacation #2) by C.J.Ellisson
THE HUNT is the second novel in C.J.Ellisson’s Vampire Vacation series featuring the sexy ancient vampire Alexandria “Vivian” and her family of vampires and werewolves. The Hunt begins approximately 2 months following their last adventure at the VV INN in Vampire Vacation, and focuses on an organized and pre-arranged hunt for a rogue vampire. The content is graphic and not intended for readers under 18.
Following the successful eradication and death of an ancient vampire hoping to destroy Vivian, the mistress of the VV INN plans to invite all the participants back for a hunt. Approaching the Tribunal for a willing candidate isn’t high on her list of desired duties, but a willing candidate is the only way to get a hunt sanctioned by the ancients. There is one problem-Vivian has angered many of the Tribunal ancients and someone wants her dead. Inviting vampires from the many Seethes and werewolves from Romeo’s pack should bring enough hunters to make the week interesting, but one of her fiercest enemies will be escorting the prey to Alaska.
C.J. brings back all of the new and existing family members from Vivian’s new seethe and each character narrates several different chapters from their own POV. An interesting feature to story telling, chapters with varying points of view allow the readers to see the story at different levels and thought processes. Many of Vivian’s family members will narrate and reveal the depth of their love for their Mistress, and like most supernatural beings, the depth of their love has no boundaries. Vivian is a sexual being with the ability to manipulate reality, but the reality of her sexuality has more than one male vying for her attention at all times. But her love for her husband Rafe never falters, although she is tempted to stray through the shear magnitude of the presence of the lone werewolf who wants her for his mate.
Emiko is the rogue vampire brought in for the hunt. Charged with crimes against vampires and thus the Tribunal, Emiko is a highly skilled assassin and a former enforcer. Opting for a hunt rather than imprisoned in silver chains, Emiko will take the predators on a hunt like never before. And along the way, a second vampire will go rogue and more deaths will follow including 3 of the hunters who had come to play. But in the end, a new vampire will make his first kill and a surprising ability will manifest from inside.
THE HUNT is a great addition to C.J.’s VV Inn series. The storyline is full of action and there is rarely any down time to catch your breath. Rafe and Vivian’s relationship will have a couple of awkward moments, but in the end a bond created by love will prevail. Vivian’s power emerges full strength and the family unit will become acquainted with their Mistresses’ ability first hand. And we have not heard the last from the Tribunal. But it is her loss of control and anger at a young vampire that I found a little disconcerting. CJ’s writing style seems effortless as the story develops and the sensuality of the characters leaves you wanting more. Looking forward to reading BIG GAME.
The vampire vacation spot is back again with the second installment of the VV Inn series. A paranormal thriller with some erotic scenes to heat you up, this read is a fun one with another murder mystery to solve.
The story takes place a few months after the first one left off. Vivian has agreed to have a hunt on the property and allow vampires and werewolves to come join the fun in hunting down a rogue vampire for a sanctioned kill. Things are different now for Vivian because she now has a Seethe of her own and is not used to having so many minds to watch over. When the guests begin to arrive, she and her Seethe quickly make work of getting the hunt ready. As the tribunal arrives with the rogue vampire, Vivian realizes that perhaps this was not such a great idea. Coraline, is a member of the tribunal that Vivian knows all too well. Enemy is a kind word when referring to this woman and the fact that she is delivering the rogue causes concern for Vivian. As the hunt begins and murders are occurring at every turn, Vivian realizes there is more than one killer on the loose and she needs to figure out why and fast. Not only that but some of her employees and Seethe members are giving her reason for concern and she is not quite sure how to deal with it yet.
I found this story to be interesting but it was not as much of a page turner as I had hoped. Once again the detail is spot on but I want to know more about the characters. So many of them almost have sex but it is frustrating that they often stop or want to wait for one reason or another. While I understand that the book is not about that, it is frustrating none the less. I did enjoy the fact that Jonathan (Vivian’s werewolf servant) is starting to become more aware of his feelings and how Rafe is beginning to accept him and even admit that there are times he may be turned on when he is around. This offers great potential for some interesting encounters in the next book.
Additionally, this book is told from various points of view. Every chapter is a different character explaining what is going on from their perspective. This makes for an interesting take on how the story plays out but you need to make sure you pay attention to who is talking. Sometimes I get so engrossed in a part of the story that I read through and don’t bother with the title of a chapter. With this book that can be an issue because you might not realize which view point you are reading if you don’t go back to look.
What I was confused about, is why the rogue was really sent to the VV Inn. The author explains the original reason why but not whether the rogue was indeed a murderer or if she is part of a deeper plot to spy on Vivian. As we move through each story, Vivian’s involvement with the Tribunal is explained a bit more and I am hoping that everything will come full circle as the books continue.
A fun read, and if you enjoy paranormal murder mysteries with a little bit of sexy infused, this will be right up your alley!
Wow! I have managed to finish The Hunt, book two of this series, and I did it in about the third of the time it took to read Vampire Vacation. This book was also written in first person present pov, but with a difference. Where Vampire Vacation was totally Vivian’s pov, this one changes every chapter. We get to “hear” from each member of Vivian’s Seethe. Although this gives different perceptions of the action, I also found it a bit confusing trying to remember who was speaking at any given time, especially when the speaker might go into “mind speak”.
Having the different voices for this story was a nice relieve from Vivian’s constant insecure babbling, but then there was the single mindedness of the male libido. I do have to commend C.J. Ellisson on her portrayal of the male mind and how everything seemed to revolve or come back to sex in some why. From the newest Vamps – Paul who’s desire for sex was surpassed only by his blood hunger, and Asa who’s military training leads him to act first and ask questions later – even in the throes of sex; to the older Drew who has finally put closure to the loss of his wife and is contemplating moving on; to the werewolf servant Jonathan who is so hung up on his “master” Vivian that he can’t get it up for anyone else without some chemical aide; and then there is Rafe – the husband who often uses sex to “manage” Vivian. Anytime the voice of one of the guys was used, there was usually, at the very least, thoughts of sex, if not the actual act.
Have you noticed that most of the members of Vivian’s Seethe is male? Interesting? Yes, there was Joanna, whose mind Vivian took over in Vampire Vacation and then becomes a member of the Seethe, but well, she didn’t last long. All she wanted was Vivian’s blood to become more powerful and chose the wrong person to ally with. We lose her by the end of chapter four.
What, you may ask, has any of this have to do with “the hunt”? Frankly, it made me wonder how they all managed to survive with their heads in their pants so much of the time. One or two nearly didn’t, but they are loyal to each other and back each other up very well. I guess that is what family is all about.
The hunt itself was rife with intrigue and conspiracy. The story was fairly good when it was told between thoughts of or participation in sex. Even if it did kind of bring some reminders of another urban fantasy story I am very fond of. A Vampire ruling body that is rather corrupt trying to get rid of the one vampire who “got away”. I have to admit this did keep me reading, wanting to see where this rendition of the theme takes us. So, I will be reading the next book, Big Game.
This is my 3rd book by C. J. Ellisson, and they keep getting better. This is the second book in the series, and this time Vivien and Rafe (her human husband) are hosting a hunt for a rogue vampire. In book 1, Vampire Vacation, Viv had to solve a murder at her inn in Alaska. At that time she enlisted the help of other vampires vacationing there, and the resulting hunt for Ivan, a rogue vampire who had murdered a guest, had all the vacationers clamoring for a similar situation for their next vacation.
Vivien made a request of the vampire Tribunal, that, in return for a hefty payment to the Tribunal itself, it would deliver a rogue and she would schedule a hunt for vacationers. Since the Tribunal, I guess like governments everywhere, always found itself needing money, the request was granted and the hunt was on. Several guests (both vampire and werewolf) intent on killing the rogue arrived at the inn and, even before the hunt could begin, one of the werewolf guests is murdered. Now not only does everyone have to hunt the rogue, they are also hunting the new murderer.
I really enjoyed the way this book was written. The chapters are narrated by the individual members of Vivien's new seethe, and I think it's a great way to learn more about each of the vampires without feeling that everyone knows that information. It's a bit like learning secrets about each vampire, without the rest of the seethe being aware of the entire story of each other.
C. J. can write a really intriguing story, I can usually figure out the "bad guy" but either I was really asleep at the wheel, or she just did a great job disguising that character. Don't want to admit I didn't pay attention (since I was trying to figure it out all along), so she obviously did a great job! I also enjoy the hot sex, so be warned, it is both sexy and a great who-dun-it! If you like both, I think you'll love this series.
C. J. Ellisson has a unique voice as she writes this series as it's happening and from various characters point of view. The character point of view changes by chapter. Some of the characters are uniquely enough represented that the reader will know who it is without going back to check. I occasionally get confused by this and have to check.
Reviewed 3/19/2012 at WWW.FANGSWANDSANDFAIRYDUST.COM
It's a fast moving story with plenty of sizzle! And plenty of violence. While the story feels light, like chick lit, it goes to some dark and complex places in it's characters' psyches. It is definitely for adults.
At first the idea for the story seems downright sociopathic and macabre. And, part of that is human versus vampire morals but part is the whole idea of hunting a being akin to oneself to the death or if they can survive they go free. As we come to understand the plot that aspect is still strange but I started to see it as part of how different vampire culture is from that of human's in Ellisson's world.
I like how Ellisson laid out the very complex plot with lots of twisty layers and with sub-plots happening and resolving throughout. After a period of adjustment I really enjoyed the very different voice she uses. I thought it must be really hard to be the first person present tense mouthpiece for so many different characters.
What I liked best is the description of a werewolf's way of thinking: not human, but the way C.J. gets into this one wolf's head is very insightful, vivid and real.
Some issues with over-description and vocabulary, but I can easily recommend this to people looking for some humor, some eros and some pathos in a drawing room mystery playing out on the Alaskan tundra.
Great exciting read
Really good book. I don't know if I liked it more than the first book though, I think because this time it switched around the point of view to whom was talking in each chapter
It was confusing at times as I'd not realize that who was talking had changed in the new chapter.. my fault because it says in each heading who the person who is talking in the chapter is. I guess I just didn't care for it in this case. In some books it works really well, but in this one not so much. Again some may be fine with it as it just my preference after read in book one . All in all though a good story and a few places that what I thought would happen didn't and surprised me. I like when that happens and I really don't like a really predictable book. So yep good book though and I will read the next one. I do like how this author writes and found only one typo in the book where a word was missing but it didn't bother me as the rest of the book was good, figured the editor missed it is all. I really am liking the group of characters that are growing in the books and I like the play between them. Worth reading if you're a good story withholds and werewolves. Oh and I liked there wasn't as much sex in this one. Don't get me wrong I like a good well written sex scene and the first book had a few really hot ones, but... some books just go too far so that's all that the book is about with small story lines in between the sex scenes. That isn't the case in this series thank God. And because of what this whole story was about it would have been really out of place if there had been too many of them. In this case they were all well placed.
When reading a series, I really love when nearly every complaint I had about the first book has been approved upon in the second! While I did enjoy Vampire Vacation, I thought that the story had way more potential than it had reached and I'm glad to see that The Hunt unlocked a lot of that and put it proudly on display.
I was hoping to be able to say otherwise but I still do not like Vivian, the heroine of this story. Her arrogance is unbelievable and her attitude annoyed the crap out of me. Luckily for me, this book is not told totally from her point of view. This time, we get to dive into the minds of the characters, making this more of an ensemble cast than anything. This was my favorite element of this book, as I connected better with characters like Rafe, Jon (my favorite), Asa, and Drew....and Paul to some extent. Taking the focus off of Vivian helped me to enjoy this book more than the first.
I also liked that the sex in this book seemed more focused than in book 1. To me, there were scenes in book 1 that felt excessive....almost as if the author just threw them in because she felt she'd gone too long between them. There is still plenty of hot, smokin' sex in this book, but this time it fits where it's placed and doesn't feel pointless. Although I will say there is a scene that feels a bit like glorified rape and I didn't too much care for it.
The premise was a good one, the characters fun and complex and the ending left me itching to find out what happens next.
Things are getting dangerous up in Alaska and Viv has a lot on her hands as she tries to keep everything under control without revealing her own extraordinary powers. With the Tribunal a bit of a wild card (SERIOUSLY, are they shooting straight or trying to set Viv up), the seethe is working overtime to keep themselves and their human employees safe.
Frankly, I don't blame Viv for being paranoid about keeping her powers hidden. With what she can do, everyone could be a potential enemy out to make a name for themselves.
But let's get back to the story at hand, shall we? Where book 1 was from Viv's perspective, book 2 lets us get into the head of all the vampires (and the werewolf) in the seethe. While it could be confusing if you didn't pay attention to the chapter headers telling you who was narrating, I think I liked seeing things from so many points of view. While I have my favorites (I love me some werewolf!) and am always game for more of them, the lesser members of the seethe lent an interesting tone as they saw (and had to deal with) different, less public aspects of Viv.
I'm excited for book 3 if for no other reason than to see what Jon does about what he saw (or thinks he saw or maybe saw) at the end of this book. Added bonus, Viv looks like she's hunting for answers about who's willing to go the distance to get rid of her. Hunting, of course, being the key part of that sentence.
*rubs hands together* I'm ready.
The Hunt (The V V Inn #2)by C.J. Ellisson
Vivian thinks she can control every aspect of a deadly game with her usual manipulations… but what if she can’t? Journey along, in this next installment of The V V Inn series, for a wild ride as the tale is told through the eyes of all her new seethe members.
Seven vampires and seven werewolves pay to hunt a supernatural criminal across the cold, vast grounds of an Alaskan resort. The one to catch her, and live through the encounter, will increase their power by feasting on hers.
The tiny vampire they track is more than she appears, however. To escape a fate of ten years in silver chains, she'll do anything to survive the weeklong excursion. This time, the darkness holds more than just the stinging bite of the Arctic—it holds death.
My Review:
The Hunt didn't quite win it for me. Its written well but it was just a tad bit too jumpy for me to be able to ease into the interactions between our cast mates this time around. I hate to say it but I kind of felt like I was reading a game of Clue trying to figure out who was the baddie and how the bits and pieces were going to mark themselves off between the rage and the sex to solve the big mystery. There was plenty of entertaining dialogue just not enough to hold my attention for long periods of time.
THE HUNT was very entertaining. While not as steamy as the first book, VAMPIRE VACATION, it is still sexy and suspenseful. Vivian has acquired a seethe, which she did not want to do. This small “family” of vampires, who joined her after the adventures of the last book, brings her a lot of new challenges. The arriving guests, most returning after their impromptu hunt in the first book, are excited to join the Tribunal sanctioned quest for a rogue vampire. Killing a trained enforcer is a deadly and difficult task but the risk makes it that much more exciting. There is a lot of mystery and intrigue as vampires and werewolves keep showing up dead. Is the rogue really rogue or is she being set up? Is there another killer lose and attacking the werewolves or is the rogue doing it? Can the additional members adjust to life in the seethe? Can the newer vampires accept their undead life? Will Vivian’s attraction to her werewolf servant, who’s madly in love with her, finally cause her to cheat on Rafe? What vampire powers has the human Rafe acquired? Just what dark secrets is Vivian hiding? Ellisson has made answering these questions both tense and entertaining. She has also set up a great story for the next book, BIG GAME.
This book is a winner, fangs down! 5 Bites, I mean Stars! 5 Stars
This is the second full-length novel in the V V Inn series and it follows numerous vampires and wolves who have paid a hefty fee to participate in The Hunt. This is a hunt on a criminal vampire across the Alaskan resort grounds over the course of a week. Since the criminal wants to survive the week as she will be set free if she does, it becomes a no-holds-barred game in which death is very real! As we all are aware, a lot of sequels tank. Well NOT this one! I found this story to actually be even better than Vampire Vacation! (which is not usually the way for me!) I found it more entertaining but only because they are more people added in to the mix, which made it harder to figure out who the “bad guys” were! C.J. also added another unique twist with this story in that it is told from multiple characters POVs, not just Vivian’s or Jon’s. At first I was a little leery of it, but once you get into it and come to love the new characters, it is great to understand them better and their take on the situations. And as I have said before, I don’t know how I missed these books or C.J. but I am happy that I did finally get here & this is one series that will always be kept on my TBR list so that I can read it over & over again through the years!
The transition from book one to book two flows so smoothly that even though it had been some time since I read the first book Vampire Vacation, I didn't have to go back and re-read the ending or try hard to remember the ending of book one; or it could just be Ms. Ellisson's fantastic writing skills that leave you remembering every word,every scene.
Seven vampires and werewolves hunting a ninja rogue and Coraline, a member of the Inner Circle with a hidden agenda and deep rooted hatred of Dria leads to non stop action and leaves you wondering what will happen next!
Love that Ms. Ellisson gave each crucial character their own voice,by describing each scene from their point of view. This made the book even more enjoyable in my opinion. There were some delightful twists and unexpected developments in the plot that were great like Asa's brother and his best friend being Werewolves and part of Romeo's pack.
The sex scenes are amazing and beautifully erotic and well written into the plot of the story. They flow just like the entire story does actually. Not once do you groan or feel like anything is ridiculously over the top. Very,very well written! I could not put this book down and can not wait to continue reading this series.
The Hunt begins with Dria hosting the hunt of a vampire criminal on V V Inn Resort. The rule is that if the vampire criminal could escape the seven vampires and seven werewolves that hunt her, she will gain her freedom. Dria's old rival, Caro shows up with the prisoner.
As the hunt continues, Dria has to decide if there is more to the hunt then it seems. Is Caro using the prisoner to bring down Dria?
With the vampire politics that intertwined with the plot, the story starts to get very interesting. Each chapters carry each members of Dria's seethe point of view. This gives the readers input from each of the secondary characters and what roles that they played in Dria's seethe. The author could keep track of each characters and that is not an easy feat to do.
There are also plenty of chemistry between Dria, Rafe, and Jon. This book is hard to put down as the twists and turns of who playing who gets very interesting. I love to rate this book as a 4.5 stars but there are no 0.5 stars.
I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.
Hostess for Hunting
First to start, 4 tiara wearing bats with an extra tiara out of 5 bats for the author.
The VV Inn is back for another go. Now that the vacations are over the hunt begins.
The first book introduced all the players and now they get to share their views as a new kind of big game hunt gets ready to take place. I love that although these are primarily vampire books, here we get to meet and see more of the weres (and it looks like they may even get to be a focus in the next book).
As always I love my normal favorites but in this book a new one is getting that title from me. Paul has always been interesting but the new developments in his new life have me really hoping he gets a lot more face time in the next book. Also I am very happy he didn't eat Bunny because I like her.
Wonderful read and I love the expansion of characters over the last one. Only character I personally didn't like well... Lets just say is no longer an issue :P
While the the masters away the wolves will play, I cant wait for the next book.
V V Inn story continues in this second book in the series. Vampires and Werewolves setting write in several different POVs but one right after the other so you never wonder if you missed something in the telling. A very enjoyable read from start to finish! The best way to get rid of criminals by hunting them, and both Vampires and werewolves must find this bad criminal before she escapes into the cast Alaskan wilderness forever. I learned a little more about Rafe and Vivian relationship, as well as more about Jonathon that we met in the first book which is what I was hoping for! A crazy glimpses into his character made me really wonder what will happen to Jonathon as the series continues. Looking forward to more from this series and Author!
I truly love all the vivid covers, very story oriented I believe. The entire concept of this book as been spot on throughout. This series has lots of sex scenes so I recommend it to mature audiences only, but for lovers of Romance & erotica, Fantasy, and/or action!
This is the second book in the series. We have a better grasp on who all are working for Dria now, and where everyone pretty much stands. The thrill of the hunt from the previous book had given Dria ideas for a paid hunt. Which had the same time brought along old problems of a sort with the Ancients and the council.
There is and even amount of sex and danger in this book, I found it to be a pretty much of a page turner. Yes Asa does make a mistake, and takes his lumps for it, and is forgiven, but it takes time, no oh you are wrong and we are friends once more by the end of the chapter. Which game it a more real life feel to it. Then there is Emiko and is she innocent or a pawn. So many questions, both answered and sort of not answered. Especially about Spike the changing werewolf who can change other things, and as an eye out for Jon.
I enjoyed this book very much, and had a hard time putting it down, I am on the third book of the series now, and can't wait for certain people mention in this one to meet up.
Book two takes place a couple of months after book 1 ended. The vampires from book 1 had such a great time tracking and helping to kill Ivan that Vivian and Rafe took up their suggestion to have another vampire hunt. This one though is a vampire that has been sentenced to death by the Tribunal. Only problem is that there are doubts about the vampire being guilty and thoughts that she’s actually being set up.
I will tell you that I was a little worried starting this book because each character tells a part of the story. I was worried that the stories would “overlap” so to speak as some authors tend to do by telling different sides of a story. C. J. never did though and I thoroughly enjoyed the different points of view.
As with the first book, there are many twists and turns throughout the book that keeps you guessing. It’s another great page turner that is certain to keep you entertained throughout the entire book.
No Spoilers...This book can be read as a standalone without a cliffhanger, however if the previous books are read you will get more enjoyment out of this book. This book is written in multiple point of views. The reader is in the head of every Seethe member. I went back and forth on this approach, I didn't get as intimate with the characters in this story as I did in the previous VV Inn stories. I missed that in this story. However, I did get to become a member of the seethe by communicating with all the members through their POV. So good and bad. I really enjoy this series and will continue to follow the exploits of Dria and her family. This is a sexy, witty read. I enjoyed the emotion showed in this story, we actually got to see that Dria has a heart. I also love the plot and how some of the same characters returned for this story. This is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the paranormal genre.
The book is not from one perspective, but changes off among several characters from Vivian's seethe. On a general principle I don't like it when books are written this way as often it can be confusing for unsophisticated readers, but I do have to admit the author did a great job handling it. I also have to admit that it added alot to the overall story as the reader was able to have insight to thoughts and motivations of the main characters that comprise the seethe without having actions shaded by Vivian's interpretation of what she sees and hears. For example, I so want to see Jon find someone, want to learn more about Drew's changing and history, and Asa also has peaked my interest. So to sum up, another great book. I can now start the 3rd book in the series which I won via Goodreads giveaway!
What a fun way to spend a vacation....if you were a vampire, or werewolf.
When Vampire Vacation ended with demise of Ivan, and the addition of new members to the "family", a fun idea was brought to the table to have a "hunt" of a rouge vampire. What Vampire wouldn't want to have the opportunity to come out of hiding for a little bit of fun. Vampires and werewolves team up to hunt one of their own. Little did they know that they maybe hunted at the same time as well. Vivian has to keep tabs on all within her family and try to figure out what the true story behind the rouge vampire is before its to late.
C.J Ellisson has done it again, she has a magical ability to suck you in to a story, and transport you to the Alaskan wilderness where you come part of the hunt as well. You will be racking you brain trying to figure out the truth around every twist and turn.
Another Great Read! This book (The Hunt) starts a couple of months after the first book (Vampire Vacation) ends. In this book The Hunt we follow various vampires and werewolves who have paid a large sum to participate in the hunt of a rogue vampire. The rogue vampire has been supplied by the Tribunal to be hunted on The V V Inn grounds during the course of a week. Vivian and Rafe are also trying to figure out during that time who in the Tribunal is out to get Vivian. Throughout this book it was interesting to see Vivian and Rafe's points of views but also the points if view of the other seethe members like Drew, Asa, Paul and Jon. This book has even more twist and turns in this story than the first book and the end will leave you wanting to know where the next part of this story will go. Again really thought this was a great book and will be definitely be moving on to the next book.
