3/26/13 Update - now on AO3, not complete (again) yet but hope it will be soon. http://archiveofourown.org/works/7352...

This was violent, morally shady, full of dub-con, definitely stockholm syndromie, and really lovely! I had so much fun following Michael's adventures with Iosef and the Russian mob. And while the power dynamic is nothing close to healthy, it is fascinating, and hot!

EDIT: It's back! Someone saved a copy (also of Picture Perfect) and the author is editing and reposting.

***

I am gutted this author's stories have been removed from the web. My dear hope is that they were taken down because they are being published. Luckily I actually re-read the whole series only days before they were removed and they were just as good second time around.

If you see the works online then they're a must read for twink/hardened organised crime mastermind dub-con action.

I enjoy a good sociopath and Petrov fits the bill quite well. He is perfect for the rules he follows, of course his rules don't always agree with the laws.

Michael/Mischa is sweet and craves affection, validation and belonging. He is a perfect, beautiful vase for Petrov to fill and bind to him.

They are brought together by some rather heinous machinations and what ensues is quite sweet for its ignominious beginnings. I liked all that. The plot turns not so much. I disagree with Michael's reaction to a couple things and his behavior and this bugged me. The quickest way to lose my favor in a book is my perception of character inconsistency. Things just didn't add up. Petrov was steady as a rock and lest we forget the two sides of his personality I've chosen a quote to remind me.

Favorite quote:
“I want you to also keep a close eye on the boy,” he said folding the belt in half. “Keep his wounds clean.”

FREE online read, there are typos, etc: http://archiveofourown.org/works/7352...

Re-read Sept 28, 2016 and still love! Iosef and Mischa are just the best, and you can tell they care about each other even through their trials and tribulations. Will definitely re-read. Off to Book 2.

Russian mafia slave fic. There was a tremendous number of spelling and grammatical errors. Michael's character was inconsistent. Overall, he was so spineless and weak from his childhood of abuse, he just wasn't likable. Petrov was a rock. I wanted him to kill Michael for his disloyalty.

People whose kink is Stockholm Syndrome might love this one. Me, I ought to hate it. And yet I didn’t, not quite. For some reason I managed to accept the internal conditions of the author’s world, whose mobsters are quite a departure from the usual m/m mobster fantasy men who all have hearts of gold and only need the love of a good twink to turn their lives around. These guys have atrophied hearts and their version of love is a pale imitation of the real thing. They’re realistic in their cruelty and lack of respect for any rules but their own. There isn’t any sweetness or light here; Petrov is abusive and rough, and Michael might just break your heart because the crude treatment he receives from Petrov is actually better than what he’s gotten before in his short life. To me, Michael falling in love with Petrov makes sense — if he sticks to the rules, he is safer than he’d be otherwise (because he tried to do it on his own and fell through the cracks like so many people do). Petrov probably wouldn’t know true love if it fucked him with lube, but as far as he is capable of love, he acts on it towards Michael as the story progresses. It’s a sick relationship, but within this world is rather better than any alternatives.

And I think that’s what I liked about the book, that the author makes me believe there is something worthwhile here, even though it is far outside what I’d normally consider healthy. I would have testified against Petrov, but I am not Michael; I left my abusive birth family behind when I was his age, and I was lucky that I got away and didn’t fall prey to any criminal element when I was still exceptionally vulnerable; that I met some decent people instead and had enough education and smarts to mostly take care of myself. So, there but for the grace of random chance go I, and I am not judging Michael’s choices. It’s bound not to end well, but that’s not part of the book — and heck, last we hear Petrov is making him study for college, so who knows. However close to the bottom of the barrel he still is, it’s considerably better than where he was.

But I can’t really love the story because it’s so abusive — it makes sense that Petrov would beat Michael bloody when he violates the rules, and it makes sense that Adrik would order Michael to be killed after he leaves, but I can’t forgive that in a romantic character.

Oh, and I gotta say: I appreciate any author sharing their work for free, but seriously, get a couple of beta readers when you decide to do so — there are plenty of people who will do that for free as well. This work’s grammar and spelling are atrocious, and constantly threw me out of the story (I can read through some pretty dismally spelled prose, but when sentences become word salad, that’s too much even for me).

Enthralling stuff. I am glad it has the violence of rough men as some books allow mafia type MC's to be pretty passive.

Editing - it was bad, Word choice / missing/mistaking the meaning of some words (Mistaking - hop for hip or eye for high (weird because they only sound the same) or peoples names mixed up. While these mistakes were jarring I was able to overlook it due to the compelling story woven by the author. So with editing this story would be a four star. Plus making the reader "present" more during the violence and turmoil between MC's (feeling the pain) would have created a higher emotive connection for me. That is what I look for and love; that connection, that emotion, that pain. I want to feel it.

And I will be reading the others in this series and watching this author.
P.S. The writing does get better in future stories so persevere.

i like the thrill of mobsters leader(on top of it Russian to boot) n unfortunate-and-unintereted-in-wealth twink boy relationship... its too bad that the fiction-club intended to stop the author's work coz of regulation.. to the author, JennMarie, dont feel bad you could re-write in your own blog or livejournal (hope JennMarie PM's me T_T ASAP)..Waiting for the continuation of the 3rd series of Traded, So Nature Gives Command [incomplete].. wish the author continued with it...

JennMarie IS BACK!!(Now new name on AFF as Twisted)With repost/rewritten version of TRADED.. I just love how the rewritten story.. it is much-better-elaborate stories.. A MUST READ for all mafias-youngboys fanz..

It was not what I had expected. The story focuses on MC's feeling toward each other. I really wish for more action scenes, but what I get was a drama instead.
I can not give more than 2.75 stars for the plot because there is not much in the story. Actually, I had put the book down once when I had finished about 20%,but decided to pick it up again. I'm glad I did because as the story continues their relationship develop and all I could think of is Michael and Petrov. I want to know how the story would end. So, at the end, I decided to rate the book 3.25 stars cause the book really had all my attention.

I cant believe this whole ass book is free. What an incredible read. Traded is one of those stories that's so bitter sweet you are on the edge of tears the entire time.

The relationship between Iosef and Michael progressed so naturally, and their hopes and fears were written so well; you could really see these characters as real people. Iosef is the perfect evil lover. He's a monster, but he learns to love his Mischa. And Michael is an innocent orphan who struggles to fight his opposing desires, being loved; and following his moral compass.

This isn't just hot smut, it's an entertaining, rich story as well. Absolutely going on my favorite MM shelf.

Really? So what? The author decided to remove the work from the net (after she copied it herself) just because her harddrive crashed? I'm seeing pissed off people around talking about this fic over on Adultfanfiction.net.

Mark my words, another fic coming soon - word for word - at a price. And no I don't have this one. I tend to avoid filth. Seriously, I think we all know the kind of mind who writes stories like this, and the kind of mind who 'enjoys' them a la Derekica Snake. Disgusting.

It was okay if it weren't for the last part of the story.

On a side note, all that money and they don't use lube even once. Iosef spits on Michael: "He then parting Michael's cheeks and spit directly on Michael's tight hole" Eww! Also, the typos are messing with my head. Hear =>Here; too =>to; it's =>its and so on.

This is one of the best books I have read. I love the hot mob boss with the boy toy.

Iosef and Michael's relationship comes out of Michael's foster father selling him to Iosef because he doesn't have money to pay the mobster back.

The problem is Iosef having to keep so many secrets and Michael being nosey. It doesn't take Michael long to learn to keep his nose out of the mob business.

This is a great read and I highly suggest it!

...What a confusing clusterfuck of idk what.

This (and and this) makes me feel vaguely guilty for reading this person's work.

And can someone tell me if this is the actual thing?

Awful. Just awful, on so many levels. Made my skin crawl. Could not get beyond first two pages. Poorly written, clichéd, and disgusting. I have had very good luck so far in trying well-reviewed online fiction, especially the stories on some of the Goodreads lists. Exceptional good luck, I guess, since I've managed to avoid this kind of thing so far. I am stunned anyone could stomach this, let alone give it a positive review. Just... yuck.

I just came across this series recently under the authors name as Twisted on AFF. I was able to finish Traded and loved it! AFF took Picture Perfect off line before I could even finish reading it but it was turning out to be just as good. I would have loved to have been able to read the whole Traded series - if anyone knows where I could find them please let me know!

This is a short story. It would be really good if the author would extend the story. I really enjoyed the story.
