Lily White Lies

Rate this book
Meg Embry has a closet full of dreams. Her problem is that all of the hangers are empty. A doting granddaughter, a submissive fiancée and a struggling business owner, she doesn't know if who she is, is who she wants to be. Will she end up like her kind-hearted but felonious grandfather, her eccentric, vodka-drinking grandmother or her moonstruck aunt? If she's honest, the best answer is "none of the above." Armed with nothing more than the support of her two closest friends and the forbidden but growing interest in a handsome stranger, Meg learns that what she wants isn't necessarily what she needs, and that sometimes love, family and betrayal are bound together forever by lily white lies.

A shameless plug for my own work, although I will come back and begin listing my favorite authors works (and there are many). I'm new to Goodreads and have heard wonderful things about it. Looking forward to learning my way around. Now... if you want to know just how radical a bachelorette party has to be to make the 'Bachelorette Party Hall of Fame'... you'll want to read Lily White Lies. If you can read through that and NOT want to get remarried just for the party...

Lily White Lies is a wonderful book. Its a page turner but not because its extremely steamy or mysterious but because it is a good story with great characters. Meg is one hell of a woman. She feisty, reserved, shy and a little insecure. I didn't expect to like this book that much. When it started I was a little bored with he current relationship and was glad when I learned that she would be cutting those ties soon . I LOVE Connor, though I was turned off by his nickname. He is super passionate and everything that her ex wasn't. I especially loved that Meg was the woman IN his dreams and OF his dreams. I wasn't expecting all the twists and turns either they had me on the edge of my seat and screaming into my pillow. If you've been having doubts about this book then doubt no more because it is a wonderful surprise.

Great book. I had the opportunity to read this before it was released. I thought it was going to be a straightforward romance but was quite surprised to find that it held several messages, mostly to women. It touched on rape and single motherhood. But mostly, unless you come from the perfect family, you will relate to this book and Meg's story. I think each of u s have someone in our own family that resembles the characters in this story. I think we've each been in her shoes at some point in our life. I don't want to give anything away, but, the characters are so believable and well written, I actually imagined them as real life people - the story palyed out in my head like a movie on a screen. Excellent read, highly recommended.

A good contemporary read but information is withheld, oftentimes delayed by segues into other areas of the character's life. If we are in first person I don't know why the narrator doesn't reveal everything as she discovers it. I also wanted the protagonist to dump her lousy fiancé early in the piece, but that might have ended the story a tad early. Light hearted, realistic characters and a protagonist who's uncovering family secrets while not spending too much time in her own head. I enjoyed it and look forward to more from this author.

This is a story of family secrets slowly and inevitably being revealed. I loved this story.

In some ways, the characters are a little too good to be true, but I loved them. A very good read.

This book is contemporary fiction at its best. It makes you laugh, cry, and just really feel like you are in the book with the characters. I absolutely loved it.

There was a LOT going on in this book, but it kept me reading. I think some of the things are a little unrealistic, but it was overall a decent read. My biggest problem with the book is the title. Isn't it a LITTLE white lie? Not a lily white lie? I read the book assuming it was a play on words, but there isn't a person in the book named Lily and I'm pretty sure [like 99.9%, I even googled it to make sure] it's a little white lie. I don't know how no one said anything to the author before it was published. Hmm, maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about, but it was free so I read it.

I tried to keep myself in the book and I just couldn't. There were parts that I couldn't put it down and then parts where I couldn't stay awake. Maybe I will need to try this one again at a later date.
