Michael Gray is a critic, writer, public speaker & broadcaster recognised as a world authority on the work of Bob Dylan, and as an expert on rock’n’roll history. He also has a special interest in pre-war blues, and in travel.

His latest book, in 3 volumes, is the 50th Anniversary re-publication of his classic pioneering study of Bob Dylan's work, Song & Dance Man: The Art of Bob Dylan. Instead of the 900+ page 1-volume whopper that has been out of print for over ten years, the new series is published by The FM Press (NYC). Volume 1: Language & Tradition, is out now either from http://amzn.to/43q3MHn or can be ordered from your favourite bookstore, ISBN 979-8-9-9882887-0-1.

Michael grew up near Liverpool, England, went to the Cavern, and graduated from the University of York with a BA in History & English in 1967, having interviewed (as a student journalist) the distinguished British historian A.J.P. Taylor and the distinguished American guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

His pioneering study Song & Dance Man: The Art of Bob Dylan, published in the UK in 1972, was the first full-length critical study of Dylan’s work. US and Japanese hardback editions, and a UK paperback, were published in 1973. A second, updated edition was published in 1981 in the UK and 1982 in North America.

The massive third edition Song & Dance Man III - including a 112-page study of Dylan’s use of the blues - was published in December 1999 in the UK and early in 2000 in the US. A seventh reprint was issued in 2008, and the book remained in print until late 2010.

Couldn't finish this book. Had trouble following who everyone was and how they related into the narrative. Struggled to follow the argument that any of the Romanov family survived the Ekaterinburg massacre. Mostly struck me as wishful thinking, clerical errors due to wartime and human error and strained coincidences rather then a cohesive story

I believe this book 100% A very well researched and written book. The truth is stranger then fiction. An excellent read.A very educated well written book. It is written by a man who is an intellectual scholar. I have looked at many photos of Alexei Romanov as a child. There is a certain way a person holds there self when a photo is taken, it's called body language. When I look at these photos of Nikolai Chebotarev I see the exact same body language that Alexei Romanov had in his childhood. I see the same body language of Nikolai Chebotarev and Alexei Romanov without question! I don't know what they found in 2007,but it was not Alexei Romanov! I can clearly see that it is Alexei. The facial features are identical. A person's face changes when they get older. An incredible read! I believe it. A very well written book. The facial features are astonishing and so is the body language. 👍👍👍👍👍. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I have made an astonishing discovery. In the book,in the photo of "Lydia" in the Yugoslavian soup kitchen. I have made the astonishing discovery that standing right next to "Lydia" is Tatiana Romanov!her face is thin but that is her! There is a photo of Tatiana in Wikipedia and they are dead ringers! Another thing is on the far left of the photo is Olga Romanov! with the real round face. Her face is heavier and older looking. That is Olga! This is incredible! The guy on the bottom right in the photo he looks like he is almost astonished! The guy on the far right standing up he looks like he is out of place, like he is some sort of government official. Three Grand Duchess's! Another thing is that photo of Nikolai Alexandrovich that is definitely Nicholas II! without question.! 🌞😊! All thoughts and opinions are my own and that is what I believe. I Know the truth not these propagandist who talk about this subject. In my opinion all the Romanovs are in those photos including Alexandra Feodorovna, and the man named Nikolai Alexandrovich is definitely Tsar Nicholas II at 80 years of age. The only one missing is Anastasia. It's all of them in my opinion! The person named "Lydia" in this book that is Maria Romanov! Alexandra Feodorovna looks like Queen Victoria! There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever it is Alexei Romanov without question. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that it is the three Grand Duchess's Maria, Tatiana, and Olga.Because guess what Nikolai Chebotarev AKA-Alexei Romanov owned these photos! He probably took the picture! There is no doubt in my mind that the profile photo of Nikolai Alexandrovich is Tsar Nicholas II!😂.
