Laura Cubus was perfectly content with her life. A junior in high school, she felt perfectly normal. She had good friends, a great family, and did well in school. Nothing particularly exciting ever happened where she lived, and everything was stable.

But that all drastically changes when a new student arrives at Laura's school. Wild rumours swirl about his past, and Laura becomes determined to find out the truth.

As she gets to know the mysterious student, he shares with her an ancient secret... one that may yet put both of them in grave danger.

And for the first time in her life, Laura is exposed to a completely unfamiliar world. She is swept away on an exhilarating journey that takes to a place where romance and great destiny may yet await... and where supernatural powers run rampant.

Shattered is a teen romance / paranormal romance, and is the first book of the Dream Realms Trilogy.

I gotta hand it to the author she actually made bella look stupid and I'm serious cause come on this is what Bella said:

Bella: I know what you are

Edward: what am I ?

Bella: ....

Edward: say it

Bella: a merman ( lol no but it would of been funny but anyways she said a vampire) boo! I'm disappointed Stephine

Edward: are you scared ? ( me : really ? Are you series ? The bitch is still standing in front of you so buddy save yourself some time and do the math :/ )

Bella: no ( me: Why am I not suprised )

Where as this chick said:

She studied his face. His skin looked so smooth, so delicate. So white. His dark eyes made a perfect contrast, as did his pitch-black hair, which was styled up so exorbitantly. She realized for the first time that he had near-perfect cheekbones, not too high and not too low, and that his nose and jaw were both strong and handsome. He was handsome. But he was also something else.

“You’re a vampire,” she whispered.

He cringed. “I hate that name. Hate that title. And it’s not who I am. It might be a small part of what I must do to survive, but… it’s not me.”

A vampire. He had told her that’s what human folklore would call him. A bloodsucker, a monster, a predator, a killer. And he was sitting right beside her, close enough for her to reach out and touch.

“You feed on human blood.” She should be terrified, saying that. She should be terrified, sitting so close to him. She should be terrified, except that… she wasn’t. All she felt was a cool, dark calm.

I Gotta hand it to here she cleans up better then twilight :) Although I didn't see this part coming

“How old are you?”

In reply, Logan smiled sadly, and turned his head. For the first time in what seemed like eons, their eyes met. “Do you want to know my age, or how long ago I was born?”

“What’s the difference?”

“We stop aging once we’re transformed.”

“Tell me both.”

“My human age,” he said, “is eighteen years old.”

“And how long ago were you born?”

“I was brought into this planet four hundred and twenty-nine years ago.”

Too much blood rushed to Laura’s head, and she passed out.

You see that was pure genious cause come on how many realistic books have you come across ? Like for example bella went to go find Edward when she knew he could chomp her neck off and had the balls to ask him so u see is it realistic NOP so yeah.

..... Yeah I'm not ashamed to say I laughed my ass off you see this is why I read books no matter how many shitty books I read like twilight, sookie steackhouse, Theres always a book that comes along that's worth the while but still this book wasn't the thumb biteing you know rolling on the floor laughing like a lunatic it also wasn't what the fuck is this shit it was kinda in between so I'm rating this a 3 ish I can't really say four .

Anyways that's my review pce love and all that other stuff :)
Oh and if you know any book where the chick can fight and is not half as stupid as Bella plz recommend it to me

Bad, very bad. I couldn't finish it, the beinning of the book was alright. But, then this happened: There was this boy she like Brad or something. They were friends but stopped because he become popular. Anyway she tried talking to him, it doesn't work something always get in the way. One day after-school she goes to her locker couldn't open it. Brad comes over to supposely to help. (Main Character swoons: My hero!) She feels a hand on her ass looks and sees a couple of guys (Brad included). You can conclude that they are going rape her. Logan fights the guys. Then Main Character gets angry with Lucas who just saved her saying that it's her fault. The main character thinks the following: What will everyone think.Everyone will hate her. now I have no chance with Brad Wait, what? Girl, you were just going to your locker, you do that almost everyday. It doesn't matter if you are walking butt nake to your locker. If you don't want anyone touching you, no one has the right to touch you. It is your body do what you want with it. It was not your fault. Brad tried to rape you with his friends and you still want go out with brad!! Hello,(knocks on Main character's head) Is this thing on!!!

Good golly miss molly where do I start? This book (I use the term loosely) was terrible! I got half way through and couldn't get any farther! And it wasn't even that long! It was more like a novella! It was about some girl (I can't remember her name) who meet some dude and stuff happens and some more stuff happens and then romance popped out of nowhere (at the begining whats-her-face was in tru luv 4eva with some floppy haired prep (urgh what is with teenage girls and their stupid preps?!) And then I stopped. I just couldn't take it any more. It made my eyes throw-up.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddddddd that's it.
I think I'm done......
Yeah I'm done.

I had to force myself to read the first 30 pages. Thinking it has to start to pick up sometime soon, even after skipping pages in the middle I still held out hope it would turn around. Alass I was 99% disappointed. Lets start with the character of Laura (the main girl), I felt she was a very weak, immature, young, her pathetic behavior and helplessness drove me insane. There was just no depth, the close second the details not matching up. At the start of the book the town and school were being described as being really small, 'the last new student was back in 8th grade', then we jump to this scene where these 4 boys are attacking Laura (the main character) in the hallway of her school - not only does no one notice that these 5 students are out of class and roaming the halls in this "small" school, but she doesn't even know who 3 out of the 4 boys are. I'm peeved 1. is this girl about to be sexually assaulted in school, 2. so now she doesn't know who these people are like what the hell 2 pages back shes talking about how she knows everyone. Then we have Logan (main character boy) and his whole creepy description at first is weird then when he makes this 'dramatic change' he shows up at school with slicked back hair and a trench coat and this is suppose to make him hot. I just kept reading thinking to my self this has got to get better. 50 pages in he's spilling all his deep dark secrets for no reason and talking about the past love of his life, I'm like where is the emotional connection between the two main characters - she doesn't even talk about her feelings towards him, then their dream walking, running away from home, killing people, going through mazes, too too much - my mind is about to explode. The last 10 pages is what I was waiting that whole book for. Funny thing is even though I completely did not like the authors tone in the book, or the weak characters I will still read the second book because of those last 10 pages. So I guess the joke is on me. Book 2 'better B better'.

As much as I admire younger writers who put themselves out there and who attempt publishing, I cannot in good conscience recommend this book to anyone. Here's some reasons why:

- Incredibly poor plotting. It reads like a mashup of Twilight, Inception, and Indiana Jones. It's almost as though the author took everything she liked from other books/movies and tried to incorporate them all into one story line. As such, it just doesn't fit together. It's filled with holes. It doesn't make logical sense. There's not nearly enough background and rationale given for events. And when you sit back and really examine the whole thing, there's no new concepts here. It just comes across as... silly.

- Some of the Twilight rip offs are far too glaring, to the point where I think the author ought to be a bit ashamed of herself for not coming up with something more creative of her own. I mean, the teen vamp drives a gray Volvo. I remember when I got to that section, I actually said out loud, "I bet he drives a silver Volvo." And BAM. I laughed... hard. I actually found myself wondering more than once if this was originally written as Twilight fanfic and then pulled to publish.

- Poor character development. I didn't like her protagonists because I didn't know them. I didn't care about what happened to them, especially Laura, who came across like some bizarre cross between Bella and Jessica Stanley. Poor set up and just poor development all around there. No chemistry. No UST. Nada. Every character in this book was flat and lifeless.

- The writing was pretty juvenile, and the editing needed a lot of work. Self-publishing isn't an excuse for glaring errors - if you want to be taken seriously, that is.

All in all, not a good book at all. I definitely won't be continuing the series.

It's times like this, you wish you could give a half star.

It was just terrible. I started reading it late one night, and in my sleep derpivated state, actually convinced myself that i liked it. The my kindle decided it wasn't worth my time and error messages plagued me, so i resolved to re-upload the book after i had some sleep.

Worst mistake of my life.

After i found the chapter i got up to, i snuggled into my recliner, setting myself in for a kid-free, lazy, book-reading day (which are very rare). Two pages in (yes, count them...TWO!) i started thinking "wtf?".

SOOOOOOOO BORED!!

It got way too twilight-y, and that is a very bad thing. The dialogue and story was practically parallel. Girls meets strange, dark and handsome new boy. Boy saves girl. Boy spills all secrets after i think about 4 pages of them knowing each other. Boy takes girl to see "his world". Boy needs to save girl from evil versions of his kind.

The only difference to Twilight: she got turned at the end. Which was also very poorly written.

Here's how i think it should have ended:

Laura: They're tracking us by my scent, aren't they?
Logan: Yes, you smell....real bad.
Laura:Well then, why don't you bite me, that way, i become a vampire and lose my "scent"?
Logan: I don't know, i don't want you think this is serious...i mean, you're hot, i admit it, but an eternity together...?
Laura: *bares neck to Logan* Bite me or i'll scream for them to come and find us...
Logan: OK!! i'll do it... *bites Laura;s neck*

*slurp slurp*

Logan: omg, that's disgusting *spits*

......

Logan: Laura??? *nudges Laura with foot*
Logan: *yells out to evil vamps* Relax guys!! No need to worry now, I think i drank to much!!!
Evil Vamps: ha ha ...newbs.

THE END

By its cover, I had really great expectations with the book. But, oh, don't judge a book by it's cover. This book disappointed me. Monotonous kind o' a plot.

SPOILER ALERT.

When Logan made an entry, I thought, "Oooh! Interesting part of the story starts." Even when he beats the boys, I was SMUG(I dunno why). I'm SO disappointed. Then again, deceptive thingy, got me fooled.

Nothing happens. Just fleeing, getting caught, fleeing, getting caught, and finally, the female protagonist, Laura, turning into a VAMPIRE to evade a clan. WHAT A PLOT!

I wouldn't recommend it for anyone. I feel slightly bad for the author, while saying this. But I can't help it. The cover's so intriguing, but THE STORY .. ! :(

Even though I have the other books in the Triology(as in, ebooks, of course), I'm not planning on reading them. :/

This young adult novella, has a lot of potential. It is called the Dream Realms Trilogy and the story has something to do with dreams, kind of. The Dream Realm seems to be more of a catalyst than something focused on as a plot device, at least in the first of this series. The world building was done ok and when the writing is good, it's great, but there are parts where it lags and it just reads dull and young. Laura just seems to follow Logan blindly and it may be because everything around her is bland and he is a new and different aspect that can take her into an exciting world, but really they just throw caution to the wind. Also this was in need of some editing, but over all the book was OK, and I'll have to read the next one to determine if I'll like it.

I loved the cover of this book for starters. Well done on going with such a fantastic, eye-catching cover, Sophia.

I think Sharp will be a voice to watch over the course of the next few years. I was really intrigued by the way she created the dream world (the rules Logan told Laura about).

I thought the pacing moved a little too quickly and I had a hard time believing that the main characters would connect that quickly. I'm a big fan of character psychology more so than action, so I wish I knew more about what motivates Laura, especially for me to understand the choices that she makes during the book's climax. Because of this, I didn't really connect to her. Whenever I'm reading (or writing for that matter) a book,I ask myself one question: 1) Why should I (or the reader) care about the MC/narrator?

I never got an answer. Laura is a clay character. She's molded by what's going on and she's too easily shaped, influenced, changeable, etc. Logan, on the other hand, I really liked and kind of wish the story had been told from his perspective. I loved his background and the folklore there.

I think there is too much dialogue. Too many things are explained and not shown. It's pages and pages of it, but I'm interested to see what Sophia Sharp has up her sleeve in Destined.

I understand how some may enjoy this book and how others question those who did. I liked how it started; it was interesting. I read the whole thing so it obviously drew me in. I found myself taken away from the story when I realized their was a problem in the sentence, grammar, typo's...etc. Book was begging for some romance. Even if just a crush. Nonetheless,I think the ending was a good one.

I have read better reviews on the second novel; so I'm looking forward to learning what happened to Laura and Logan.

Meh, this book was kind of bad... I mean, kind of really bad! I didn't like the writing, the storyline was forced and totally unbelievable. The ease in which Laura accepted what Logan had to "show" her was just ridiculous! I didn't like it and it was obvious from the dead body near the bar what kind of paranormal book this was going to me. Drained blood and two marks on the neck and they put out an "animal alert", it's laughable!

Cover is great. Story is a bit challenging for me. I don't quite understand what it is with the elder vampires or how they manage the other vampires. This thing about the elders sounded familiar. Like in the twilight. But I do appriciate originality. It is not common so one will definitely not like it especially to those who are binded with the norms. I would still read the 2nd book. I want to know what happens next..

I'm only on chap four and I already think laura's a psycho. Seriously? Her reaction was pathetic.
......
Chap 5. She is less crazy.
....
The ending was so abrupt I thought maybe some of the book was missing. I want to know what happens and I hope these books get..deeper. From the foreshadowing it looks like they will.

I found this book to just be OK.
There were so many things in it that bothered me. For instance... she was just taken from her family. And that was that. She rarely made a comment that she missed them. The amount of times that Logan said Laura's name in a paragraph also drove me insane. Not sure if I will read the sequels.

The reviews for this book were interesting and received quite a bit of praise, but I felt that the character development and plot were very weak. Once again, it was a vampire book where a girl is drawn into his enticing world. There was very little to develop their relationship before they were running for their lives, and he ultimately turns her to save themselves.

I was actually upset when Logan turns out to be a Vampire, I was really hoping for something different...I might just be getting over the vampire book stage, but I think it would have been better if he was something else...an alien (lol)

Is the FMC dumb? Brad isn’t just a jerk — he’s a rapist. And she wanted to be with him? That part really threw me off.

The narration was weird overall. Logan literally shines like a vampire — did she not watch Twilight? This felt like a poor attempt at recreating Edward Cullen and Bella, except Bella has totally absent parents and even less personality.

The whole situation felt off. The girl has full-blown Stockholm syndrome, and somehow she doesn't have a single close friend? How does that even make sense?

Honestly, I don't get the point of this book. I’mma be hating on it a little — but I’ll admit, I did like Rafael.

I found this short little novella by Sophia Sharp while looking for a book to read for a challenge. It served its purpose and I liked it enough, but surely didn't love it. I found the plot to be fairly engaging and I liked the action in it quite well. I also enjoyed the relationship between Logan and Laura. I also liked both of the characters, especially Logan. The author gave an unexpected twist to Logan's being a vamprie which I thought was unique. Overall it was okay enough to pick up book #2 and see what happens from there.

No words to describe this. Only expressing gifs:

So after a couple of boring, miserable hours, wasting them on a miserable, ugly book, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

Go teen wolf!

Okay my reaction on this:

This book hurts. It is like reading a fan fiction of Twilight. No, it IS reading a fan fiction.

So yeah, normal girl of which the writer wasted about 5 papers to say that the dump Laura is normal in a normal town with normal parents in a normal school with normal friends and normal teachers and normal sister and normal dog and normal life and normal routine and normal food and normal water and normal roads and normal birds and normal insects and normal animals and normal behavior and normal life!!

Then she has a crush on that stupid Brad guy and he is about to RAPE HER yes people RAPE HER and she still loves him and is mad from Logan because he saved her because she has no more chances with him.. HUH?!

Then the normal life our dear heroine has is turned upside down because Logan out of the blue, with NOTHING happening between them, decides to show her his powers. Just because they share a detention after school. THAT'S IT! Oh yeah Logan does kill humans and he doesn't sparkle :O the only difference from twilight.
Really did the writer think she can take Twilight, add some dream power and THAT'S IT?! You got a new book?!
She even used the Voltori thing!!!! That his stupid kind will kill her because he told her his secret without even knowing her. HE EVEN KNEW HER HOME ADDRESS! STALKER!!!!!!

This book is exactly like Twilight. How did they allow it to be published, I really don't know. I thought I was like reading the wrong book or something or maybe a bad rewrite of Twilight with silly other names.

Oh and Laura. The too stupid to live heroine..
She is so STUPID. I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE IS ABOUT TO BE RAPED AND ALL SHE THINKS IS THAT HER THING WITH BRAD IS DOOMED. HUH?! AND SHE PUNCHES LOGAN FOR SAVING HER. THEN OUT OF THE BLUE HE COMES THE NEXT DAY AND SHOWS HER HIS SECRET. WHY?! AND HE FUCKING APOLOGIZES FOR NOT ASKING HER BEFORE SAVING HER. WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAT?!

No no no my HEAD HURTS.

My Logan:

My laura: I'm sorry I couldn't find a creepy gif :(

Maybe this will do?

Really Laura is even more dump and stupid than Belle. I mean she runs through all classes and goes and hugs Logan and starts shouting. She is afraid from the man in her dream but she is not afraid of the guy who has a previous violent past and who takes her ALONE to the woods?!!!!!! HUH?!!!!! NO no no! I can't take it anymore.

Nothing more to say. 0 STARS.

I stumbled upon Shattered by Sophia Sharp completely by accident, and I'm glad I did. While there were definitely some things that I didn't like about the book (more on that later), the story line is intriguing and engaging enough to keep me reading. I also really enjoyed the originality of the story line. It wasn't your typical girl meets vamp kind of novel.

What I didn't like - So you can definitely tell that the book is self-published. As a writer myself, I found myself distracted with the numerous typos found throughout the book. Some of the types even obscured the meaning of the sentence and I had to kind of make up what I thought the author meant. Not difficult for someone that writes and has an imagination, but I can definitely see a potential struggle here for some readers. I also found that the characters and circumstances lacked a certain zest/intrigue/sensation...having a hard time finding the word I am looking for, but I found myself wanting more from the story, from the characters, from the circumstances, from the surroundings. It was like watching a low-budget film through some areas. Sure, the story line is great, but you can definitely tell that the camera quality is lower and the sets are less attractive.

What I loved - As said before, the author really delivered a unique and intriguing story line. Very unique, very engaging. I fell in love with the story very early on and plan to continue through the rest of the trilogy, despite the few setbacks in the story itself. I was fascinated by the author's decision to make vampires merely human with superhuman strength with a thirst for blood and I loved Logan's personality...a knight in shining armor, but not the overly suave stereotypical vamp male.

Conclusion - Overall, I think the author is very talented and imaginative and I liked the book. I do think the author would have delivered the story better, had she spent some more time editing or had hired an editor. But in the end, I would recommend Shattered to anyone that enjoys vamp fantasy but feels like they are all rehashing the same story line. Shattered will give you a nice change of pace.

Holy quick book Batman! I don't think I've ever read a book that felt more RUSHED. I thought it started out great {although that math teacher was unusually stern and Laura was unusually polite to her LOL}. Regardless, I thought there was just enough mystery about Logan.

And then... suddenly Logan is letting Laura hear other people's thoughts and taking her into this dream world... and then he tells her he's a vampire. There really should have been more mystery behind this. It just happened so fast. Laura should have been fishing for more information... she sort of got HANDED it all out of nowhere. Why?

Next thing we know Logan and Laura are on the run. Not for anything, but in the beginning she discusses how wonderful her family is, her friends, etc, how she has never been or known anything else. Then, she just leaves. Not even a call? I get that she's been chased, but not even a notice that people are looking for her? I understand they go "to the middle of nowhere," but what about her parents and the police? She doesn't even show a glimmer of concern for leaving.

Also, I wish there was more interaction between Logan and Laura. I get they have this connection {sort of}, but I don't feel like I really know how Laura feels about him, {WARNING - the next part contains a SPOILER} and then by the end she's just so willing to have him turn her into a vampire - and he does! Don't you think there should be more thought into this?

And, shocker, in the middle of this huge chase and Logan biting Laura {which was just so uneventful}, the book ends.

There is NOTHING more I hate then a book that doesn't have a beginning, middle, and END! END YOUR BOOK DAMMIT! If you have to leave this huge cliffhanger then you know the book just isn't that good and it NEEDS something in order to have the reader continue.

Alas, this mediocre book wins in that although the plot could have developed WAY better, and the characters could have indulged me much more than they did with simple, little changes, everything was just so in that I still feel the need for a conclusion. I'll give it one more book and see how it goes!

The biggest problem that I had with Shattered was the writing itself. Terrible. There were so many problems, I almost had to just put the book down and walk away. There were words in the wrong places, extra unnecessary words, missing words, misspelled words.... on and on and on. Not one page went by that didn't have a mistake, and it is incredibly distracting. When I read, I want to be trying to figure out the story, not trying to figure out what the heck this or that sentence even means. So, this is the main reason for the low rating, but definitely not the only.

The story itself is just okay. There was potential there I think, but for me it just wasn't reached. I never connected with the charachters or what they were going through. I want to feel what the charachter in the book is feeling and relate or at least be able to understand and I honestly just didn't care about them. I wanted to and I really tried, but it never happened. I don't really know what else to add. It all just felt so hurried and there wasn't any substance to it. So, a 2 star it is. I will try to read the next in the series and see if it improves just to give this author another chance, but I really hope that she dug in and made something better out of the next book.

***SPOILER ALERT!!***

Okay, let me just say first... this book was not what I expected it to be. I have never been disappointed to find out I was reading a vampire book, but this time I was. It's very sad that I say that because normally, I love vamps. When I first started reading Shattered and Laura met Logan, I had an inkling of what he was.. but then I thought maybe I was wrong. When he took her into the Dream Realm, I was psyched! It was so awesome! Nobody does anything with dreams these days! But then I found out exactly what Logan's kind was. I honestly only finished the book because I needed to see what would happen next - and even the end of the book was a bit predictable. It's sad.

A few good things.. the imagery and the fight sequences are all well put together. There's a lot of things going on that keep the story moving forward.

All in all, I just can't give this book higher than 3 stars. I liked it, but I won't really remember it (except what I didn't like about it).
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Well, I thought it was a nice book to read, but it was also it bit too much Twilight for me.

SPOILERS.

Laura meets Logan at school. He's a new student and she is forced to help him with his math. On a day he shows her one of his gifts (I still don't know why he did that.. he said that it felt good, but what the heck, they've just met?) She's quite obsessed with he and she wants to know more of him. He shows her another 'trick' and they get into a lot of trouble. Without hesitation she believes him and the run away. She's not very worried about everything she leaves behind (yeah, one time she had a little thought about it, but that quickly fades away.) They're a lot of people who wants them dead an in the end, they almost die. BUT, woehoe, Laura is a brave girl. She decides that he must turn her and without thinking, he bites her.

Well, that's one thing that's different from Twilight :p Laura isn't a weeping, crying girl and Logan isn't a whining boy. I quite enjoyed the characters and I'm going to read the next book, 'cause overall, it was a fun read :)

A quick little read with good potential. I like the two lead characters. My only issue, really, is that it's very abrupt. Things are building up nicely, and then BAM they are on the run and their lives are forever changed. I like that toward the end they meet someone who may be helpful to them and at least doesn't seem to want to kill them, but it ended too abruptly for me to have a clear impression of him too. Also...Laura gets dragged into this horrible situation and doesn't even seem too terribly upset by the fact that she will never be able to see her family again. That's not what the mother of a teenage girl wants to read!!

There was nothing really to the story, the structure was horrible. Logan for some reason decides to show some random girl he only just recently met the secrets of being a vampire and he gets caught. They end up running and running then decide to turn Lauren into a vampire so the others couldnt track her scent, a split second decision. Then there is some crappy end paragraph saying how Lauren is the first willing human to be turned into a vampire and blah blah blah.
Sound rediculous? That's because it is.

So, I recently decided to finish all of the old unfinished books on my kindle since it is now so outdated that I can’t download…well, anything new, and this one had literally two chapters left when I picked it up! I think that tells you enough about how much I enjoyed the book…but to be fair, I finished those last two chapters YEARS after I first picked up the book. But still…it wasn’t great. Honestly, it just doesn’t really appeal to me anymore. I doubt I’ll read the next book…after this, I’m deeply rethinking my buy-every-book-I-read-to-put-on-my-shelf philosophy.

Not one of best books I read, but it was ok.
Everything happens really fast, girl meets mysterious boy, girl is intrigued, boy turns out to be a vampire that can walk in the dream world. Problems start when he visits that world with Laura..
All in all it was not bad, i want to know how this saga ends.

As other reviewers have said, this just felt a bit rushed. I like the characters and the way things were going, but it felt like the chase came too soon, with not enough development. It just feels a bit unfinished - I'll probably read the next one to see what happens, but don't feel the urge to get it and start reading right now.

I actually started this book two years ago and read it till chapter 15 or so, but couldn't get any further because of the immature writing, and the boring and stupid story-line.
I saw this book a few days back and thought I'd at least complete it. Big mistake.
Neither the story nor the writing improved much in the remaining chapters. Not reading the remaining books in this series anytime soon.
