In spite of swearing up and down he's a bachelor forever, Derek Windsor is ready to settle down with Elliott Chandler. After a long distance relationship and a few months of wedding planning, it all comes down to this weekend: a wedding on the Washington coast, then they can start their life together on Maui.

But with the ceremony just days away, Derek's family drops the bomb: they aren't coming. They refuse to support or be a part of his marriage to another man. All his life, he's ached for his parents' approval, and their last-minute wedding snub leaves him reeling. Though he doesn't question his love for Elliott, can Derek still go through with a wedding that could irreparably sever his relationship with his family?

L.A. Witt and her husband have been exiled from Spain and sent to live in Maine because rhymes are fun. She now divides her time between writing, assuring people she is aware that Maine is cold, wondering where to put her next tattoo, and trying to reason with a surly Maine coon. Rumor has it her arch nemesis, Lauren Gallagher, is also somewhere in the wilds of New England, which is why L.A. is also spending a portion of her time training a team of spec ops lobsters.

Authors Ann Gallagher and Lori A. Witt have been asked to assist in lobster training, but they "have books to write" and "need to focus on our careers" and "don't you think this rivalry has gotten a little out of hand?" They're probably just helping Lauren raise her army of squirrels trained to ride moose into battle.

3.5--Here Come the Bride--Stars!!

The conclusion of the Elliot and Derek's story. The moment it all comes down to. Will Elliot finally get to say I Do?

But it's not all sunshine and roses getting there.

After having a long distance relationship for the last year, Derek proposes and Elliot agrees to move to Maui. They decide to get married before the big move. Everything's been planned, reserved and paid for. And at the last minute Derek's family decides not to attend the wedding.

Derek's family has never supported him....not him being gay, not his decision to move to Maui, not his career aspirations. Derek's entire family...ugh, seriously

Their decision not to attend the wedding really hurt Derek. Luckily they pull their head out of their asses and make it time and all is right in Derek and Elliot land...and they can live happily ever after.

Loved the first two in this series, and this started out great. I really felt the angst and hurt that Derek felt when his family ganged up on him two days before the wedding, but I just couldn't buy the big turnaround for the happy ending. If they'd just showed up, and been willing to try to understand, and maybe had to work at expressing support, that I could understand.

But the "oh, honey, we didn't realize we'd hurt you" after a deliberately planned, "we tolerate you being gay, but your marriage is wrong" confrontation with Derek just seemed contrived. Glad to see the HEA work out, but I thought the contrast between the Elliot's family's support and Derek's family's attitude was a key part of this story, and the happy wrapup made me wonder why so much time was spent on that part of the story.

Just under 2 hours and even Charlie David's narration couldn't get me interested enough not to skim. For me to fast-forward an audio shows how little I cared about this little finale. Witt should have shortened it and turned it into an epilogue for the whole book - which shouldn't have been split into 3 in the first place.

There's nothing in this 3rd installment that would have made much difference if I didn't read it. Basically it just covers the run up to the wedding and the parents of each MC making an appearance.

Overall, I'd say the trilogy was just meh, despite a promising start. Definitely not worth the price if bought individually (I'm speaking of the audio) but with the Whispersync deal of 1.99 plus free on Kindle Unlimited, all I lost was time I could have spent on another, better, audiobook.

PS: it's a pity A.J. Lewellyn doesn't have a non-paranormal book set in Hawaii. He knows the islands well and I would have been able to sit back and relax, knowing I can trust what he says about the place.

[2.5] Derek's family gave me whiplash with that reckless 180 at the end there. I don't buy nor want to hear their excuses when they knew full well how their words and actions were hurting him 🙄

Although this novella felt tacked on and unnecessarily so, I still appreciate having Derek's POV this time around. Happy HEA! 🥳

This is the conclusion of Derek and Elliott's stories, first introduced in Getting Off The Ground and continued in Infinity Pools. It's four months after the proposal, Derek and Elliott are getting married -- except Derek's family decides that they aren't coming.

This story is taken from Derek's point of view, a change from the first two stories (which are from Elliott's). To be honest, I'm not sure whether this story is necessary at all. Sure it gives a glimpse of Derek's family and how the refusal to come affects him. However, it also resolved fine in the end. So it's a nice finish, but I'm okay if the story stops after #2.

These three books are actually available all put together. I really like them. The first two were told from Elliot's POV and the last by Derek. The two of them are so very adorable together. It was wonderful to see Elliot loosen up and Derek is just the sweetest most patient guy ever. Another one that falls into the Sweet and VERY sexy category with lots of fun and great chemistry.

A fantastic finish to the set of stories -- great to have the first two from Elliot's POV and only the last from Derek's. The other two are smoking hot, but this one has the heart-breaking and redemption...with a little fabulous smut to round it out!

I completely loved the first 2. They were so sweet and steamy. This was also sweet and steamy but the wedding planning and bit of drama made it slightly less perfect than the first 2 books even though I still loved it and especially loved the ending.

Things continue (with a great shout-out to Jenre) and Elliott and Derek have decided to get married in Seattle where their families are before Derek moves to Hawaii permanently. They have to do the usual family get-togethers before the wedding and when they get to Derek's family the reception is chilly to say the least. He's surprised since they had met Elliott and knew about the wedding, but they declare that they don't support him and won't be attending. Derek is left reeling by his family's rejection and starts to question the whole concept, however he doesn't want to disappoint Elliott who got stood up once. After a sniffle inducing conversation with his brother on the eve of the wedding, he decides they don't need his family and proceed. This story is told from Derek's first person point of view since most of the story revolves around him coming to terms with his family's feelings about not just his relationship with Elliott, but his whole life.

Word of warning. I read these one after the other, like "finish page 153, start page 1" and it took me a very long time to wrap my brain around the fact that it was Derek speaking. I kept thinking "Why would he say that?" Oh wait. It's Derek. Right. Makes sense now. This had nothing to do with the writing, because it was out of character for Elliott so it was not a case of both characters being "the same", it was my brain. So maybe take a day between unless you are able to switch gears faster than I am. :-)

Loved this series and how Derek was a calming and relaxing influence on Elliott. He still had his lists, but he was also able to go with the flow more often and not get so freaked out. Also you find out Derek isn't quite the slacker he comes across as. When he needs to suck it up and do his job, he does and does it well.

This was a short story told in Derek's POV which was nice since the rest of the books were told in Elliot's POV. This was Derek's last trip to Seattle as a single man. When he left Seattle for good, he'd be married to the love of his life who was moving to Maui with him so they didn't have to continue the long distance relationship and only seeing each other a handful of times a year.

When Derek and Elliot arrive at Derek's parents' house for pre-wedding dinner, his entire family drops a bomb on him... they don't support his marriage to Elliot and won't be attending the wedding.

This cuts Derek up more than he lets on to Elliot, but it's hurting him pretty bad. The fact that it's bothering him tells you a lot since nothing seems to get Derek tense and uptight. He's always wanted the approval of his family even if they've never really been supportive of anything he's chosen to do with his life, but now, he's finally really, truly happy for the first time ever and he just wants a little support.

He's not sure he can go through with the wedding knowing it'll effectively cut him off from his family for good, he loves Elliot more than himself and wants nothing more than to make him happy and wouldn't dare leave him at the altar like Ben did to him nearly two years ago.

After a long heartfelt talk with his brother at the wedding rehearsal dinner and some time alone on the beach, Derek comes to a major decision that was reached due to the help of his fiance who knew something was wrong and came to find Derek.

Elliot is one of the nicest, kindest, most loving men in the world and after Derek finds out everything Elliot is willing to give up for him, it makes his decision easy.

I really loved this book, it was nice to see the unshakeable Derek show some really heartfelt emotions and it was beautiful to watch these boys get their happily ever after :)

Io l'ho letto stanotte.

This time it was Derek's POV. It was nice to be inside his head this time around.

What I appreciated the most about On The List was the gentle but definite statement about family being uptight about same sex marriage. Not understanding love is love, irrespective of gender. Not giving it the same basic tenet as they would a heterosexual marriage; thus diminishing the love and affection that a person has for another, their need to commit to the institution of marriage.

The book was a little short, so Derek's family and their effort at the end just seemed a tad convenient and rushed, but, hey, I loved the series and I'm glad Elliott got the (right) man and his wedding in the end. Another good read from L A Witt.

I LOVE these guys! I couldn't wait for this book to come out and I downloaded it and read it as soon as I got home tonight. What a great story for these two. I was pretty pissed off at Derek's family and the way they treated Elliot and Derek before the wedding - especially that creepy BIL who instigated the whole foolishness. I loved that Derek stood up to them and didn't stay where he had to listen to words like "tolerate". And that he came to his senses. Great conclusion for this fun couple.

I just love these two guys. I really liked that this was from Elliott's POV this time, it really let you learn more about him. I thought this was very real and just a delightful read. Elliott and Derek's dialogue and interactions are so fluid and well written, you can't help but love these guys. I'm assuming that this is their final story? I could read about these guys forever! I highly recommend this series! Start with the first one as they are all related.

It was lovely to hear Derek's voice in this final novella.
I thought it was all too fluffy and things were going a bit too smoothly and I was right. Derek's family made me so mad! But the way Elliot dealt with it was so, so sweet.
I'm not sure how I feel about the end. I mean it was sweet and happy and all that but a bit too neatly wrapped.
I almost wanted Derek to tell his family to bugger off. Almost.

The 3rd and final book in the series. Very romantic, sexy (the smoking hot scenes continue) and entertaining. The books really do need to be read in order, they are novella length and follow each other closely. All 3 are definitely worth reading too!

I will definitely be reading more from this author!!

First off, I'd like to say, I'm adding the other two stories in this review. As a set they were very enjoyable and the story was a sweet build up to Elliot's & Derek's relationship. I like the final segment with Derek's POV.
