Years ago, if you had said to me, "Rachel, the day will come when you rate books higher because they're violent and bloody with some smexy times on the side," I would have scoffed and replied, "Bitch, don't be talking crazy!" Alas, as I age, I grow infinitely creepier. My Ruthless Prince went there so many times that I was utterly captivated by the sheer ballsiness of it.

At times, it seemed that Gaelen Foley was writing directly to my spirit animal, the velociraptor. Nobody enjoys death and mayhem like my inner spirit animal. Its short little arms go flailing akimbo at the mention of patricide, and it tears apart entire rooms at the excitement of slit throats in battle. So, basically, reading My Ruthless Prince turned me into this:

This is totally normal, guys!

Sadly, My Ruthless Prince isn't actually about a PRINCE. I know! Romance titles are supposed to tell the truth, right? The "prince" in question is actually Drake, the Earl of Westwood. Not a prince at all, but I'll let it go. So Drake is a super-spy from The Order, an ancient brotherhood reminiscent of The Knights Templar. The Order has a nemesis, the Prometheans, which is pretty much The Order only totally evil. A couple years before the start of this book, Drake was captured by the Prometheans, locked in a dungeon, tortured and brainwashed for months. They wiped his memory, and then some old Promethean dude released Drake with nefarious intentions. A feral Drake returned to England, and the only person he remembered was his childhood friend Emily Harper, the woodsman's daughter on his estate. Emily helped nurse Drake's memory back to life, but then the old dude, James, returned, and Drake seemed to defect from The Order and his best friends by saving James's life and taking off for places unknown with the Prometheans. This all occurs before the opening pages of the novel.

Now that everybody thinks Drake is a big, fat traitor, Emily takes it upon herself to hike into the wilds of Bavaria and rescue Drake from the castle where he's shacking up with the Prometheans. Loyal to a fault, Emily can't believe that Drake is really an evil traitor. She knows he must have something up his sleeve. So armed with a bow and set of arrows, Emily somehow makes it to the castle and comes face to face with Drake. Instantly, he seems like a changed man. No longer the smiling, playfully devious friend Emily remembers from her youth, Drake is now dark, remote and tortured. He's climbed the ranks of Prometheans to become James's right-hand-man and pretty much head of security at the castle. At first, Emily is devastated to realize that Drake has become the monster he fought so hard against with The Order, but she can't figure out what to do about it because she still LOVES HIM more than sunshine and rainbows and unicorns combined.

Of course, this is a romance novel, so Drake's whole Evil Promethean exterior is just a ruse. He's taken it upon himself to orchestrate the biggest inside job EVER. Basically, he wants to kill all of the Prometheans, and he really doesn't care if he dies with them. Until Emily Harper arrives, that is. Reminded of the sweetness and light of life by the woodsman's daughter, Drake is tempted to touch the one girl who's always been forbidden to him, and her presence makes it much harder for him to live in a world of moral ambiguity.

LIKES:

1. The Gore! - Foley doesn't shy away from the fight scenes. Sure, the main characters pull off some far-fetched stunts, but who doesn't want to imagine the hero jumping from a horse and tackling a bad guy off of his and proceeding to beat the crap out of him? Good times! Less than a third of the way through the book, one of the antagonists

2. Drake's Brush With the Dark Side - At times, Drake doesn't act very heroic. Several times during the book, he scares Emily with the lengths he goes to exact revenge. At one point, he even scares me with the internal implications that he may be turning into a Promethean by accident. He reminded me of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels, only if Anakin hadn't been portrayed like a pubescent emo crybaby with abandonment issues.

3. Emily's a Convincing Action Girl - I mean, she made it the whole way into the freaking Alps with her bow & arrow and wits. Although she's a pure, innocent soul, she takes part in some of the later bloodshed and manages to defend herself convincingly. She has great aim with a bow and arrow and isn't afraid to use it.

4. Virgin Sacrifice! - In order to prove how evil the Prometheans are, Foley has them plan a virgin sacrifice at the next eclipse. Naturally, the only virgin in the castle is Emily, , so it adds some desperation to the plot. And as cliche as the whole virgin sacrifice plot is, I had to love its campiness.

DISLIKES:

1. Emily Totally Doesn't Have a Set of Velociraptor Balls When it Comes to Love - I get that she loves Drake to distraction, but I got a little annoyed when she can't resist him even when he's ACTUALLY BEING A BAD GUY. Her internal monologue is all like, "Oh, he's being so evil right now. I SHOULD stop him. But I can't because he's beautiful and BELONGS with me. Therefore, I will tolerate his bad behavior and die a little inside with each step he takes toward the dark side." Grow some goddamn backbone, Emily. Geez! If Emily wasn't so capable and moral, her transformation into a doormat wouldn't have bothered me so much. Fortunately, at the end of the book, she grows her balls back in a SPECTACULAR way.

My Ruthless Prince isn't a perfect book, but I had a freaking awesome time reading it. For some adventure mixed with some sweet romance, this is worth reading. That's the problem with Avon books. 99% of them make me want to tear my eyes out, and then the rare 1% comes along that rocks and compels me to trudge through the crap to find the rare gold.

4,5 estrellas.

Why oh why do I always get suckered into reading Gaelen Foley's new books and end up regretting it! It started off so good, but by 20% in I knew I was in trouble! The plot overshadowed the romance. Devil worship horse play abound from a group of old evil men and a hero that was TSTL had me skimming pages so fast, I think I gave my self Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. The subplot with the devil worshipers was rather stupid. The hero was even more stupider, letting the heroine walk around the devil worshipers palace by herself like it was a house in the Ton. Not to mention giving away the secret that she was a virgin, knowing that they wanted one to sacrifice! The storyline didn't seem to be thought out very well. It just wasn't done right to be plauseable. Also it seems that you need to read the books that came before it to really understand what the heck was going on with the Order and the Prometheans. Read at your own risk.

"Her beloved lunatic needed her--whether he knew it or not. Whatever it took, she was not leaving without him."

It is so satisfying to finally read this book after all this time. Out of all the Inferno club books, this has to be the most anticipated (Gaelen Foley was driving me crazy with all her tantalising glimpses of their future romance in the earlier books in the series!) and the most satisfying. Besides the fact that I adore Gaelen Foley's writing style, the characters she created in this book were definitely her best. Drake was the tortured hero fighting a dark battle between good and evil within himself and on his mission to dismantle the Prometheans. Emily is his saviour - the shining light admist his darkness. She is one of the most pure, loving and brave heroines you could ask for. Their love is rooted in their childhood and finally blossoms into a intense, passionate romance after years of longing and unfulfilment.

Like all the other Inferno Club books this one is an enchanting mix of adventure, suspense, danger, sweet love and humour. The scenes in this book always had an edge of danger to them but Foley keeps us satisfied by never straying too far from the romance between Drake and Emily. The element of danger and the eventual climax heightens the sense of satisfaction and at the end of the day we all know that Drake becomes a besotted, adoring husband and he and the Inferno Club triumph. Always.

I'm actually quite surprised at the relatively low average ratings her books in this series have scored. I haven't read The Duke yet (I do hear that is her best book) but I would definitely say this series is one of my all time favourites (perhaps ranking just after Lisa Kleypas's Wallflowers and Hathaways) and Gaelen Foley is one of my top authors I go to - one who never ever fails to disappoint me. I'll be reading My Notorious Gentleman next and I am so glad there are more to come!

I would definitely recommend this series to regency lovers ☆☆☆☆☆

5 Stars...!!

I didn't really warm up to the series first. But what an arresting series...!!
If you've read the first the first three books beware to be ravished by our beloved lunatic Drake.
He's ruthless, aggressive, and a man on a mission...!!
I loved this book. I started reading with a low expectation. But this book quickly sucked me in...
I loved the entire action thrilling pace this book was set in.
It plays with your emotions at all levels. So many times I wanted to throttle Drake and sometime Emily.
But all was worth it. I love the ending. I was pleasantly surprised by James.
All together a fire packed romantic historic thriller...
Totally worth your read..!!

I am immediately picking up Beau's book.. Loved the epilogue...!!!

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't just the same old thing you get in a lot of historical romances. I liked the characters and the plot kept me guessing.

The hero, Drake, was a Knight of the Order; trained from an early age to protect and serve on the side of good. But, prior to the start of this book, he'd been captured by the enemy and tortured to the point of losing his memory and to an extent his mind. After months of interrogation, he was "saved" from the dungeon by James, one of the head bad-guys, who played mind games and used manipulation to make Drake feel a sense of loyalty to him. (Some of the details surrounding this were a little vague and I'm guessing it's because this happened in previous books of the series which I haven't read).

When this story picks up, Drake has physically recovered from his ordeal thanks to his childhood friend, Emily, nursing him back to health, but his mind and behavior make his former friends in the Order question which side he's on. He's voluntarily gone back to the very fortress where he was tortured and taken up a position as James' personal body guard and head of security.

I thought Foley did a good job with Drake. The kind of trauma and mind games he'd been through aren't the sort of thing a person can just walk away from without any side effects and I thought she did a good job of showing Drake's conflicted demons without turning him into a weakling or a psycho. In a lot of romance novels you find heroes who allude to having some kind of "darkness" inside them but usually it's far from the truth. In this book, Drake really does seem to lose himself to the dark side a few times and both Emily and the reader are left to question whether he's going to be able to come back. It all came together to give us a flawed but likeable hero to root for.

Emily was a good heroine as well. I was worried that she'd end up being TSTL after she pursued Drake to the evil fortress and got herself caught, but that didn't end up being the case. She never did anything foolish or ended up needing to be rescued. She handled herself well and was an asset to Drake instead of a hindrance. It should have made Emily seem pathetic that she was completely and unshakably devoted to Drake from the very first page. That she frequently said she'd do anything for him and made no secret of the fact that she'd loved him for years, but it didn't. The relationship between them and how special they were to each other was well established and her devotion to him came across as wholesome and pure.

All in all it was a very satisfying read, although I wish the epilogue had been devoted to wrapping up Drake and Emily's story rather than setting the stage for the next book.

Second half was better than the first. Considering I have not been much of a fan of this series, I still, somehow, hold out hope every time that the Gaelen Foley of old will shine through. While that wasn't necessarily the case in this instance, there were flickers of the author I once loved. This entry in the series was better than the ones that have come before it. Still, it could have been amazing. Once upon a time it would have been. For what it was, it wasn't bad. Drake and Emily are a beautiful, touching couple. Drake, himself, is dark, edgy, tortured and walking a fine line between good and evil. He, alone, makes this worth four stars!

My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book...

In my review of My Wicked Marquess, I said that I wanted to know more about Drake. The story of his torture in the hands of the Promethean Council instantly found a place with me. I know how great GF is when she’s writing a tortured hero, I highly recommend Lord of Ice to anyone who wants read a book with a tortured hero. Because of that, I might’ve expected something great from Drake’s book. Sadly, the book gave me a mixed read; some I liked, some just meh. As a series, Inferno Club has been a downer for me. As I read book after book, I wanted the old Gaelen Foley back because I adored her writing style and everything that went with it. Not this series. Anyway, I’ll try to give a brief of the story and my opinions to why I wasn’t really impressed.

We know that Drake, Rohan, Max and Jordan are the chosen knights the St Micheal’s Order, an ancient order of agents who fought with the evil Promethean Council for centuries. Highlander Virgil recruited them from their high-borne families and trained them in the agent’s training school from a very young age. As they grew up, they lived under the impression of rakehells and libertines (not all of the ‘impression’ are impressions, mind you... Rohan was particularly, um... let’s just say overused) in a club called the Dante House. It looks like a bawdy house (with real prostitutes who service them too) but underneath they work and plan stuffs against the Council in here. Things have been moving since Max’s book, My Wicked Marquess. The heroine, Daphne drove me nuts with her TSTL activities. I didn’t like Rohan since the beginning for his penchant for shagging anything in skirts so his book... waste of time, including the heroine, Kate. Now, My Irresistible Earl was an improvement and still my favorite of this series. Jordan and Mara’s chemistry and the story itself were amazing. Loved it to bits! Jordan was HOT! In between, we got to know Drake being tortured by the Council who caught him and killed his other two fellow agents. We knew that a Promethean names James Falkirk has saved him (or so to speak) from the torture, only to use him for his own purpose. Falkirk was plotting against the current head, Malcolm, who unfortunately, is the brother of Virgil. Malcolm’s son Niall is supposed to succeed him. We get the twist that Niall is actually Virgil’s son and so on. But Niall is as evil as any Promethean who wants nothing but his own power. In book #3, Niall was captured by the Order. Drake was already working for the Council, about which his fellow agents were worried. When Drake saved Falkirk from Niall (who knew of his betrayal) and went with him, Order thought Drake cannot be saved. So they gave orders to kill him, along with any other Council members. But, Max, who’s Drake’s childhood friend and closer than the others, never lost hope.

In between, we saw Drake in his estate gaining his health and self-possession. His mother, along with the others, thought him dead but was overjoyed to have him alive. We meet Emily, who was his childhood friend and cares about him a lot. Drake had some memory lost and Emily, a tomboyish kind, tried to help him out. She’s a woodsman’s daughter and even though she knew they had no future together, she loved Drake; it was as plain and simple as that. Drake cared for her too, maybe even loved her but sadly, he never told her anything. He used be a rakehell, in the genuine sense... you know, Order business and all that (puhlez, I don’t fall for that crap anymore!). Now, Drake could only remember Emily and that they shared a bond he never shared with anyone else. But, when he was recuperating, Drake chose Falkirk and left for the continent with him as his bodyguard. Emily was hurt but determined to find him. So were Drake’s fellow agents. Niall was kept under lock and key for information.

In this book, Drake is in Bavaria, in Waldfort Castle. One of the Council’s men is the owner. Drake has his own plans for the Council, 1st of which is to gain trust of them all. Falkirk already thought he’s converted as Drake took their initiate’s seal. Emily followed him there. It was kinda unbelievable that amongst all the dangers lurking around, she arrived hale and hearty in Bavaria, tracking Drake all alone! I didn’t buy it, no matter how good a tracker she is. Anyway, that aside, Drake soon found her out with his men. He introduced Emily to everyone as his mistress of sort from his country for safety purpose. He took her in and kept her in his spartan room. Emily is not sure what to think of Drake because most of the times, his expression is inscrutable. It was not her Drake but Emily is determined to bring him back to life and make him leave with her. Drake, on the other hands, is having trouble with all the conflicting thoughts along with how to keep Emily safe. And he would keep her safe no matter what. Soon though, they talk about their troubles and Drake confesses that he’s playing a part here, that his memory has returned; at least most of it. And he has a big plan for the council members.

Then, as the story progresses, the other council members makes Falkirk do something to have Drake prove his loyalty. Falkirk, no matter what he’s become, held a weird sort of fascination for Emily and affection for Drake. He didn’t like it but to uphold his cause, he needed to prove his trust on Drake. So they make Drake give his ‘dearest blood’; a sacrifice of someone close to him, the blood of an innocent. They somehow realized that Drake and Emily have never been lovers and that Emily is a virgin. They make Drake bow to their will, to sacrifice Emily to prove his loyalty. Drake accedes. Emily eavesdrops and gets scared. She tries to run away... ironic because Drake asked her many times to do the same, that he’ll help her but she denied to leave. When she was fleeing, Falkirk accosts her and politely tells her she’s to live like a princess from now on (as any other sacrifice would live the last of their days). They, along with Drake, didn’t know that Emily knew. So they keep her in the best of apartments, with best food and dress. Drake isn’t really allowed to see her but he does once or twice with Falkirk’s permission. They plan to poison the members who would arrive for the special night a fortnight ahead. Drake had another plan though. When he goes with Falkirk to have a look at the temple ruins of the Prometheans, he discovers something that would come handy on the night. But, Emily’s idea was better, so he gives in. Anyway, a few days later, the plan was foiled when the maids cleaned up Emily’s room along with the poisonous flowers. She acted as a vacant miss who had no idea of what she’d done and somehow the maids were convinced of her stupidity. Now, Drake has only the other option to consider.

Niall, in London, kills Virgil and runs away. The old warrior, having had his son close, lets his guard drop and pays. I was sad about this, along with the fact that I wanted Niall to reform and have his own book but... sigh. Other agents weren’t there because they were making arrangements for their journey to Bavaria to track Drake, as Emily’s letters informed them. It was a shocking discovery and with heavy heart, Max, Rohan and Jordan are off to Bavaria. Niall saw the letter while escaping and now was on his way there too.

Then, Drake and Emily, after all the catastrophe and trouble looming over them, decide to give into their passion. Honestly, they were a sweet couple, even a friendly couple but passion? I saw nada, felt nada. So, the love scenes of this book didn’t stir me at all. They sneak away somehow to have a night of passion outside the castle walls. It was easy for Drake to distract the guards on Emily’s door since he’s the captain of Falkirk’s security. Soon Drake decides this isn’t worth it so he considers running away with Emily, who is giving him new hopes in life. But that doesn’t come to pass as Malcolm, getting the message from Niall, attacks the castle and there ensues a big battle, in which most of Malcolm’s men die. Falkirk’s too, with many of his upper class council members. Drake steps in, making Emily unhappy. Somehow, before being fatally wounded by Malcolm’s sword, Falkirk saves Emily from being killed. Drake kills Malcolm. Then, on his deathbed, Falkirk makes Drake the head of the Council, as it was apparently prophesied in the old scroll by their ancestor Valerian. I wouldn’t have believed as wounded as he was, Falkirk had much life in him for such a lengthy lecture and announcements. *odd stare from me* Drake accedes to his wishes which again concerns Emily. Now Drake keeps thinking all these powers, maybe he should keep it and keep Emily too as his concubine. WTF was that?! Then Emily, even though she was not happy with Drake’s decisions, can’t say a thing back to him when he’s touching her. It’s chapter 18 (of 23 chapters) and she’s thinking she’d live out her life as his mistress as she can’t deny Drake anything. It was soooo not sexy! She even lets Drake shag her afterwards. This part, I was kinda pissed and was scared that this book will go down for me. But Drake informs her that it’s all a part of his plan and he needs to be convincing. And they keep playing out their parts, too convincingly for my choice. They also found a new sacrifice, a little boy, instead of Emily. Falkirk, before he died deemed her as ‘not innocent’ because she killed men in the clash, even though he knew that Drake and Emily had already become lovers.

Max, Jordan and Rohan have already closed in on Waldfort Castle by then, so has Niall. Soon, new fights ensue. Niall is caught by Drake, who has no idea about Virgil’s death. Niall, ironically, had no idea too about Malcolm’s. I will leave the big climax here but have to tell you, I loved the ending. It was quite emotional because of Drake’s fatalistic plan. 3.75 stars because it was worth a try. Maybe my expectation was high, I don’t know. I’m still gonna mourn the loss of the old Gaelen Foley.

For the next installment:

Sebastian’s book My Scandalous Viscount-

1) Since a big part of the current clash between the Ordar and the Council is apparently at an end, I believe we’ll see some new developments in Seb’s book. Already the epilogue is giving new hints about something to do with the parliament. After Virgil’s death, things are now awry for the Order. Sebastian has been given a big responsibility.

2) We also got the names of two of his friends, who are missing as well- Nick and Trevor and Seb’s worried for them. I’ve recently read a GF interview where she expressed that Nick and Trevor will get their own books.

3) I think I’ll be picking up MSV because I’m also interested in the heroine, Clarissa, who was introduced 1st in book #1 as Daphne’s close friend.

4) I’m not sure that we’ve seen the end of the Promethean Council though.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I have to say it's one if not my favorite from this series and big improvement from the first three. Drake and Emily were quite a refreshing pair in the Inferno Club gang. Emily Harper is the first heroine in this series I actually liked and enjoyed. Pigs must be flying. :P I found her endless devotion, love and faith in Drake endearing and her bravery and strength and resourcefulness admirable and charming. She's described as everything pure and innocent but has a resilient spirit to back it up. I love that she was a perfect mix of shy innocence and courage and resilience. A heroine worthy of one of the brave Order agents and no shrewish behavior to be seen anywhere. Yay! Go Emily!

I'm usually not a big fan of childhood sweethearts falling in love or reuniting, but here I was charmed and smitten by Drake and Emily's long standing friendship and secret longing history. Oh the angst. They were each other's saviors and it was sweet and touching. And the whole 'forbidden to touch the woodsman's daughter' history between them made their dynamic and secret devotion to each other that much more enthralling and addictive. They had the whole forbidden love and star crossed lovers kind of thing going which worked. It was believable and bittersweet and I wanted them to find their HEA just as badly as both of them did.

As far as the villains go I have to say Foley is losing her touch in that area. I didn't really find the evil corrupted Promeathians as menacing and Satanic as the author tried to paint them. I don't know it's something I guess I struggled with since the beginning of this series and made my interest slowly wane through each book. I found James Falkirk the leader of the group and Drake's 'handler' to be tiresome rather than treacherous and his epiphany 'seeing the light' moment when he's nearing death to be a little too convenient. The man saved Drake's life but had a hold over him and manipulated him during Drake's capture so I wasn't really convinced or sympathetic to the 'bond' the two shared. Overall, the Devil worshiping group of villains just wasn't doing anything for me and I found my eyes glazing over and skimming over the parts where the evil cult would sit around discussing their scheming plots to userp each other. Meh.

Drake and Emily made up for parts I didn't find interesting. They have been through so much together and apart and it was wonderful to see them finally get their chance at happiness together. They were adorable and sweet.

I will say I was a little irked that Foley decided to waste the epilogue of this story as a set up for the next book instead of giving us a sneak peek into Drake and Emily's HEA ending. Whhhy?? And the fact that it was used for Beau and nosy busy body Carissa was even more annoying. What is it with this series and tiresome heroines? I'm a big fan of epilogues and I get a thrill when authors use it to show readers how the couple are faring after their happy ending. It annoys me when it's wasted on secondary characters that have nothing to do with the initial story just told. -__- Ever heard of a sneak peek? And the title of this book is a little misleading because the hero in this isn't a Prince, literal or otherwise (nothing against Drake's character mind you), so I'm wondering why GF chose that title?

Anyways, as much as I love Gaelen Foley I think my read ends here with this series. While this isn't bad I do think her older work is much stronger. To be honest the only thing that compelled me to read this was because I wasn't satisfied with how things were left off with Drake, and Emily's introduction in the last book intrigued me. Their back story made me pick this up plus I had this book on my buy list for over a year so I couldn't quit it. I personally think this series has run it's course and the remaining 'agents' aren't all that interesting. And having a nosy snoop gossipmonger for a heroine just isn't inspiring me to pick up the next book. No thanks.

I'd recommend new readers to try her backlist before trying this series it's not her strongest or most impressive work. Her writing for some reason has lost that edge and passion her earlier work is known for. Her attention to detail and suspenseful plots is there but it's not the same. I was almost left wondering if she used a ghost writer for this series? Her writing voice isn't the same.

I was so looking forward reading Drake's story, after finishing the previous three books, but it turn out to be really disappointing.
Let me elaborate.
What makes these HR special is the fact that all the male Heroes, apart from belonging to England's top nobility, are also spies, part of a secret society set to protect King and Country. And the women that fell in love with them were also very special, different from era's standards and unique. And in every previous book the romance took precedence and the mystery and action just spiced things up a bit. Not so much in this book.
Drake and Emily are childhood friends and they are already in love unberknown to each other, both willing to sacrifice everything to save the other. Not wanting to spoils things plot-wise, we didn't witness them fall in love, in fact for the majority of the book, there was none-to very little - interraction between them. Instead, both were lost into their own heads and had to battle their own demons.
So, having failed in my opinion on the romance part of the story, the plot that kept me turning each page, was the conflict between The Order and the Promethians, which came to a decisive peak in the end and made reading this book worth it.
I'm really curious to see what comes next, when a brand new chapter for these noble spies begins.

This series is VERY plot driven and I think Gaelen struggles with balancing the plot and character developments/romance in this series. I think she managed to sort of strike a better balance in this compared to book 2 (which I hated), since Books 1 and 3 had more simplistic spy-driven plots which worked better for me. I think it helped that the whole book for this was THE MISSION, so you know, you can't really extract yourself from it and not care.

The romance was decent. I think it was a good choice to make Drake and Emily already by pretty intensely in love with each other, and more of the obstacle was the crazy situation they were in, and Drake coming clean with his feelings.

I really liked Emily. I was not fully on board with her unflagging devotion to Drake, but she was meant to be naive, innocent and pure and goodhearted so I'll give her that. I did like that Gaelen did allow her to have some doubt as to whether or not Drake was really good or if he had turned. I needed her to have doubts in him and to be angry with him, because that's only realistic!

Gaelen always has a flair for drama so I was like, inappropriately thrilled all the poison plots and explosions, LOL.

Time for Beau and Carissa's book!

3.5 stars!

I always had the most peculiar bad luck while picking historical romance books that I want to try. I dreaded the spy romance novel because I love the lightness of romance novel.

After unfortunately, having bad luck with strings of spy romance novels, I am glad that I read this one on impulse.

Drake is a double cross agent. Emily is the girl who loves her since childhood. She followed him to the enemy's lair because she wanted to save him.

The romance did not even overshadow the plot. It was interesting that the plot unfolds, mostly unexpectedly at the time I expected the least. There are always wrong turns and decisions that I waited with bated breath what would happen next.

I may try another novel by this author, especially the Inferno Club series. But I think I have to take a break first because the novel is heavy and quite uncommon for me. I need to read something light before continuing reading the series.

You can find the entire review at Forever Book Lover.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was worried that I wasn’t going to connect with the characters since this is part of an ongoing series, but I was immediately drawn into the plot from very beginning. Their love was forbidden, Drake being the earl’s heir and Emily, the woodman’s untamed daughter. I loved the tenacity of Emily, she loved her man and she would do anything to bring him back from the dark side. I was moved by this story, it was a page turner...

The last few books have not been good to me. Unfortunately, this one wasn't any different.
The h was a total pushover. The H keeps being an ass and she "kept believing in him"
Bull of crap.
I like my heroines bad ass and this one had me wanting to punch her.
Okay, rant over.

I am thinking it is just me. I have looked back and see I have not rated any Gaelen Foley book above a 3-star. :( Maybe it is just too much mystery for me in my romance...

Give it to me. PEC. Teniendo esa tremenda trama, ¿cómo la haces tan pesada? :,,,(

My Ruthless Prince is Drake's, the Earl of Westwood's story. I have been waiting to read Drakes and Emily Harpers story and believe me it Did NOT Disappoint. We finally get to find out if Drake has really become a traitor to the Order of St. Michaels which he once belonged or is within deep cover in the Promethean Council.

This was one of the best stories in this series. The love between Drake and Emily was written perfectly. They are two wonderful characters you will fall in love with.

We get the answers and some resolution to questions the readers of this series has had since bk.1 My Wicked Marquess. We also, have some sad results we lose one of our beloved warriors, but his death is revenged.

I Highly Recommend "My Ruthless Prince" a fitting name I might say and the entire Inferno Club series.

Dangerous

Each book in this series is more dangerous and exciting than the last. This one had me on the edge of my seat, in places, running my eyes over the next page, to make sure it was safe to read, expecting the worst to happen. This installment was epic, how will the next compete?

I’ve been waiting for this book and it didn’t disappoint. Quite a few nail biter scenes but things turned out the way they were supposed to. I’m glad Drake got a book so soon and his memory issues weren’t dragged out the entire series. That would’ve gotten annoying very quickly.
