Borderline personality is one of the most confusing and controversial psychiatric disorders. The author cuts through that confusion with his clear, sensible discussion of the development of the borderline concept, of the diagnosis of personality disorder, and of competency-based treatment.
One of the best books I've read on a devastating type of mental illness, particularly among young people. The author is witty and tries to keep the jargon to a minimum in his descriptions of exactly why treating this illness can be so difficult. I usually dont read too many psychiatry books but this one was stellar.
