In His Footsteps: I Gave My To Do List To God and Got More Done, More Sleep and Less Stress

Rate this book
For people with too much to do and too little today to do it in!

Overwhelmed with work, family and major life changes Margaret stumbled onto the secret of Christian happiness.

Her daily prayer of faith focused on hearing the voice of God.

As she learned how to talk to God her life became one of joyful -and often funny- adventures rather than stressful details.

She shares how with God by her side she became happy driving in rush hour traffic, dealing with frustrating people, and managing her todo list.  Her nights of anxious wakefulness thinking of all she had to do went away.

This 18 month slice-of-life chronicles the results of the daily prayer that

Gets frustrating people out of your life
    Brings peace during trials
    Increases opportunities
    Gets rid of clutter
    Renews faltering faith
    Deepens joy
    Creates financial freedom
Takes you from where you are to where God wants you to be.

No more sleepless nights!

Step-by-daily-step God changed both her life and her heart.

Unlike most authors, Margaret shares the down-in-the-trenches experiences that come from turning a life over to God while earning a living and caring for family and friends.

Written in an engaging and personal style that brings a wry wit to a life led by God.

Margaret Agard is a wife, mother of eight, former missionary and an award-winning writer whose latest book "In His Footsteps: How I Gave My ToDo List To God and Got More Done, More Sleep and Less Stress" shares her fresh approach to prayer.

I read - and write - memoir. I have become addicted to memoir. Also I read scifi, science related books and books that make me re-think what I think I know. To relax I read clean romance.

I like upbeat, uplifting people and books so if I friended you that's probably why.

I am currently writing my third memoir from our house next to a lake in Florida-- viewing lake, not swimming lake because, well, alligators. I'm looking forward to finishing that memoir so I can get back to learning to play the harp. The nice thing about the harp unlike say the violin, is that it sounds good even when played badly.

Follow me to find out when the next memoir is available.

Eye Opener

It took me a while to finish this book. It had nothing to do with length or complexity. I gained so much understanding about many different Bible concepts through examples that I read slowly to gain as much meaning as possible. Several valid points made me rethink what I need to be doing as a Christian. This book is such a blessing!

I liked this book. I liked the spunk and matter of fact way the author describes her daily walk with God. I liked the bits and pieces of wisdom throughout. It was a breath of fresh air from what I'm used to reading.
However, the blurb is completely inaccurate. It has very little to do with productivity and a to do list, and everything to do with being led by the Spirit and serving others by asking God what to do every day.
Although I can see how the author got to this title, and I find it humorous in a way, it can be misleading and put off readers who most need to read it, thinking it's about something else.

I found the author's honesty to be very inspiring. It's not very often that someone could admit their weaknesses, much less work towards becoming better with them. I also appreciated the witty moments with her family and the cut-and-dry meanings behind some of the entries and points she was trying to make.
I did however feel that some parts felt a little emotionless, and scriptures were hardly quoted or mentioned throughout the book as a tool to use in her entries. It is more of a spiritual path of examples than a deep theology or study of the Bible and its teachings. I must admit that I was expecting something similar to a meditational companion, however the book's overall tone is realistic and allows you to experience real people with real situations, occasionally dealing with real struggles, and real solutions and blessings. Overall, It's a quick and light read that's worth reading.

I recieved a copy of this book as part of the GoodReads Giveaway.

AS you can tell from the cover, this book is a spiritual/relegious book. Rather than quote scripture and tell us how we should live outr lives, the author jornals a year of her life. She showes by examples how by following scriptures and praying life will work out.

I like the idea of the author using personal stories to get her message. Personal stories are how you can connect with someone. There was probably at least one story that everyone could connect to.

I liked the book. It was a short book, less than 120 pages. It was not hard to read. The stories were seldom more than a page and half long. There were a few that were four pages. They were a little hard to follow as the author seemed to be rambling.

I recommend this book for someone wanting to start or continue their spiritual path.

Although the author had many good points and suggestions. I had a hard time following the progression of her life experiences. She skips back and forth all the time from one husband to another, children at home, children moved away. I think I would have gotten more out of the book if had been written in a more chronological approach. Still there were a good many lessons to learn from her experiences.

I won this book through GoodReads First Read program.

This appears to be the author's selected enteries from her diary. The one's which dealt with prayer and various spiritual struggles I enjoyed. Others I couldn't figure out why they were included. It did give me another's perspective on listening to God which I have struggled to do in my life.
