Tai Chi Chih!: Joy Thru Movement

Rate this book
Pairing time-lapse photography with concise commentary, this photo-text offers complete instruction in the simple yet utterly profound movements. Additional essays on the background and philosophy of T'ai Chi Chih are quite illuminating. This meditative T'ai Chi Chih discipline circulates and balances our internal energy (the Vital Force or chi), helping alleviate excess stress, aiding in relaxation, and improving our health, creativity, performance, and intuition.

I took Tai Chi Chih for several years over a decade ago and I always found it soothing yet invigorating. During Shelter in Place, I have explored various fitness options as well as contemplative practices. Tai Chi Chih offers a hybrid though it's definitely more meditative than contemplative or fitness. This simple guidebook offers some historical background and step by step tutorials on the basic movements from the practice's founder. I had a vintage edition that did not include Bird Flapping Its Wings but YouTube has plenty of practitioners, most Justin Stone students, who can fill in the blanks.
