Oh my. my.. this was refreshing!!! I had sworn off historical romances... I mean.. I just could not relate to the story of 'ton' and blah blah!!!

This was so nice... I fell in love with it... beautifully narrated.. All the 3 love stories were touching....

A perfect Regency romance with dialogue more congruous to the period than many similar books. Very likeable main characters.

Fun, romantic regency with a little intrigue

Miss Jane Verey has no desire to fall in with the plans of her father and the Duke of Delahaye. To betroth her to the Duke’s younger brother Phillip, a rude arrogant nobleman, who has insulted her family with his careless boorish behavior. So she devises a plan thwart the betrothal. Little does she realize that her cleverness will be noted by none other than the Duke himself!

This is a fun, mostly clean regency romance with clever dialogue, romance and a mystery thrown in for good measure.

this book was ok. i didn't like the hero high handiness though i did like the heroine spirit. truely i can't see what she sees in him maybe if they courtship was longer and he wasn't trying to marry her off on his brother who is in love with someone alse. as for the heroine brother romance. well i am not too shore on that one.

Although there was a bit too much of the misunderstood “lovers” between the main characters, I liked the plot and the heroine. She was clever and held her own. This was first Nicola Cornick book but I plan to read more.

I really enjoyed this book. It was cute and entertaining. The only thing that I did not like was how long it took for Jane and Alex to admit their feelings for each other. Alex went around assuming that Jane knew that he loved her and Jane went around assuming that Alex just wanted to marry her to fulfill some obligation to his dead grandfather. That took a lot of the enjoyment out of the ending and lowered my liking of the book. It was still entertaining nonetheless, however.

A nice no sex included romance.

The premise is unique. The duke (our hero) wants our heroine to marrry his brother. Our heroine does not agree to the match. So the pair try to outmanover each other to gain what they both want and end up falling in love.

The story also contains the overused "I love him but he doesn't love me so I won't marry him" obstical near the end but the rest of the story is entertaining enough to overook the cliche.

Note: Read this one before you read 'Lady Polly'!
This story was definitely the best of the three. Although Miss Verey and her treatment of Alex got tiresome after awhile. Close to the end of the book I found myself skipping through the tiresome parts.Really glad I finished this series. I will read some of Ms. Cornick's later books and see how they compare to her first books. I don't think I'll read any more of the earlier books.

This one has a lot less polish than some of Nicola Cornick's later books. At first, I admired Jane's pluck and rebellious attitude, but after a while her treatment of Alex was just annoying. I was ready for this book to end about half way through.

A charming and calm story. No overly sensual scenes. Dialogue was time appropriate. Way too many exclamations points and a few spelling errors, and there were times I felt the story should have focused more on the MCs, but otherwise a nice, one time read.
