I read this third book because I absolutely loved the first one, especially the heroine's journey from a unfortunate accident which changed her life to the one she built for herself through determination and resilience. The second book was boring, but third was somewhat good enough to find out where finally landed in life.
The story can be quite soap-opera-like, with an endless stream of deaths, accidents, and dramatic twists pushing the plot along. Normally that would bother me, but i accept the old-fashioned way given it's written back in 90s (originally i thought 70s). What I actually enjoyed was the comforting predictability. Problems arise, get resolved, new ventures begin, and success usually follows. There's something oddly soothing about watching life move forward in that way, even when the path there is sometimes dramatic. There are more books in the series, but I'm content to leave Annie HEA here. 3.5 stars
P.S: Goodreads really should allow half star ratings - half star matters!!!

Another 5 stars for book number 3.

At the start of this book I thought the rating might go down slightly as took me a bit longer to get into this one. It however got really good as good as the other books and the situations the family went through had me gripped.

I love the character development in this series and following the journey of the famly as they navigate difficult troubles and situations. Annie and her family are really strong and this book gave me lots of emotion. I am really looking forward to the final two books in the series.

Another brilliant story.

The Gibson family so far have been through so much and yet they have come back from so much every time they think everything is going well comes another knock down poor Annie losing the baby then poor Tom losing Marianne and then finding out about their sister's and May dying how tragic was all this very sad .Thank goodness Fredrick came up with the idea of Rosie for Tom to help let his grief out and star to live life again.

This is the 3rd book of “The Gibson Saga” in the year 1848 and Annie Ashworth formerly Annie Gibson had worked hard at becoming a great seamstress. Annie did such a good job at it that she opened her own dress making salon that she named “ The Bilsden Ladies Salon. It was in the very best part of High Street and she was very proud of all she had accomplished.

Part of a series but can be read as a stand alone novel. I like the characters so am reading the whole series for the 'feel good' factor.

Love this series, there is a minor mistake as Catherine’s baby is called Philip John in book two but Samuel John in book three. Otherwise a lovely series.

a bit repetitive

Story lines very similar to first two books hopefully the last two will have different plots, less doom and gloom bit more drama.

Loved book 3 in this series taking us from 1845 Lancashire seeing Annie achieve personal happiness and ongoing business success. Yes, there are trials and tribulations, and another enemy made - her stepdaughter Beatrice for one!
Sadness at how William finds out about his birth and real father by a bitter and hating Beatrice which almost spoils the close relationship with his mother Annie.
Also, to see her brother Tom to continue to find his happiness with Marianne which when she is killed by the reckless Lord Darrington you mourn along with Tom and yes, I cried for his loss!
Annie's other siblings continue to thrive, and lives improve through the opportunities given to them. Also, her father is given a third chance to find happiness despite Tom's initial disapproval.
Also, the doctor gains another daughter - illegitimate from his estranged wife who dies in childbirth and the chance of happiness with his young housekeeper Ellie - Annie's friend from when they both started out as servants in the doctor's household in the 1830s.
I loved it.

Book 3 in the Gibson Family Saga - two more to go! Really enjoying this family saga and the stories reflect the history of the period so well. This one deals with the Great Exhibition and the building of the railways.
