This book could manage to simply join technical writing and reader response. Reader is a customer of your text! It provides 27 rules of persuasive writing. I recommend you to read this book before going to technical writing books.
Downloaded this ages ago, but only just got around to reading it.
It's a solidly functional book on the basics of writing to convince others to do something.
On the plus side, it has a couple of chapters around the psychology of persuasion / bias etc and also how to use / counter more fallacious arguments in your writing. These help fulfil the promise in the title to make your writing more persuasive.
However, many of the other chapters are about much more basic writing skills (e.g. editing processes, layout) and the link to persuasiveness is more tenuous.
If you've never read a book on writing, this gives a good overview of key areas to explore. However, if you have, some of the content might feel very basic and obvious e.g. checking for typos.
It also feels rather padded out and repetitious at times, with summaries of each chapter and an appendix that mostly repeats key points from the text.
It's a solid read with helpful tips, but if you've read other writing guides, only the chapters on psychology seem to offer much that you couldn't easily find elsewhere.
