I had read a few other books in this series, and they were presented as information and accounts of alleged hauntings. This was written with a different style – a collection of short stories (fiction) about ghosts, which I imagine were based on real rumors of ghosts but had no background history and no added information. I didn't like the stories – I thought they were juvenile, and although a child may like this book, I really think an adult would not. I wish they had not changed the format.
Would it be weird to call this cute? I may have been desensitized by growing up in Jersey with stories of weird throughout my life, but these are old school, tame by modern standards. Still, they will make me think twice before driving down our old back roads at night alone...
This book I would have loved has a preteen. Not that spooky, maybe if I was younger I would have found it to be spooky and has some good stories. The stories seemed to be the type that are told around a campfire or during sleepover to try and scare your friends. It's a good read though
