What happens when you take a dark god, a succubus, and a classic tale of mistaken identity?

Previously known as the “nicest” of the dark gods, Hypnos, the God of Sleep and Dreams, can no longer claim that title. An encounter with Marissa, a succubus who managed to bind him and use him as her food source, nearly killing him in the process, has left him with one sole purpose: to find, torture and kill. So when he finally locates her, he’s planning to put his plan into motion with relish.

Katrina Black is a succubus living as a human. A past incident has made her horrified of her own nature. So imagine her surprise when she’s snatched from her home and taken to Tartarus to be punished for something she did not do. The solution is easy. She just has to tell the man—god—that he has the wrong girl.

Katrina finds out it isn’t easy to rationalize with a single minded god hell-bent on revenge. . Especially one who looks like perfection reincarnated. And after experiencing some of his ‘torture’, finds herself questioning if she really wants to.

Katrina leads an apple pie life until an unexpected turn of events dump her world upside down. Black wings emerge from her back and what should have been a precious moment is turned into a nightmare.

Clearly all is not well in this sleepy town, and Katrina is not human. A smooth transition pans away from this scene and takes us to another realm. Here we meet the dark god Hypnos who’s found himself between a rock and a hard place. Bound by unbreakable chains he’s feed on by succubus Marissa. His strength of will and vicious visions of revenge are the only things that allow him to hold out until he’s rescued.

I’m anticipating the grand sparks that will fly from Hypnos seeks his retribution, when we’re returned to our heroine. Sassy, smart mouthed and independent Katrina is all grown up, and easy to like. So when she falls victim to a case of mistaken identity, and is imprisoned by Hypnos( who has enough baggage to fill an airplane), I’m immediately concerned. The fire between Hypnos and Katrina is visible from the start. But the twisted circumstances make “love” seem impossible.

Ms. V is a master of what she does. Using words and scenarios that make you love Hypnos one moment and hate him the next. You want things to work out in the end, but a part of you feels like he doesn’t deserve the happiness. Except after all he’s been through how could he not be cruel?

Katrina’s time with Hypnos is a tension filled, sexually charged push and pull that keeps you wondering what’s next. Here recue and proven innocence leaves them both conflicted. When Hypnos gets it together enough to come back, and apologize. I was relieved. He has a long way to go to earn her trust. But she admits to have feelings for him opens the door for the beautiful relationship you know is just buried beneath the mess that brought them together. What follows is a beautiful romance about overcoming obstacles for the one you’re meant to be with.

Rich in descriptive words and stepped in Greek mythology this tale hooks you from the start. Dark gods, sex-crazed succubae, oh my! Right from the start this story weaves a unique tale that won’t let you go. The pace is fast, but well explained, and chalked full of mystery. The kind that keeps you attention riveted to the page. Because you really aren’t sure what’s going to happen next. The sex is always hot. A wonderful blend of emotions and brilliant descriptions of naughty acts, the sensual scenes satisfy all of the senses. It’s a read I highly recommend to all, but especially to those who love mythology.

I was iffy at first going into the book. I didn't really like the premise, though I found it interesting. It was a bit too short for my taste and left a lot of questions unanswered. It appeared that the author had sent this book up for a follow up book, however this was released in 2011 and I see no books after it which is disappointing.

I do kinda wish Katrina had gave Hypnos a harder time before accepting him back. He was a major douche yet kinda sweet to her during her captivity. It was interesting to say the least. Its not my favorite from the author but it is enjoyable and worth the short read.

I don't understand why Katrina forgives Hypno so quickly even though Hypno kidnaps her. The only logical reason is that Katrina suffers Stockholm's Syndrome. Otherwise, I do not understand how she can fall in love with the man who kidnaps and rapes her.

Also, she finds her twin sister to be a monster, but not the man who kidnaps her? It makes zero sense.

Dark god in IR romance always a 👌 unfortunately just as in Fallen, this book left plenty unanswered questions, some of the characters weren't developed as expected and the ending left a cliffhanger that was quite annoying even though one may take it as a HEA.

Once again, I can give this book only 1,5 stars.

It´s steamy filled with lots of sex scenes but nothing much on the plot size.

Most of the time I was slapping my forehead and groaningg over the ridicuousness of the supposed love Hypnos and Katrina felt for each other. Only two words: STOCKHOLM SYNDROME. There´s no way in hell that after Hypnos tortured Katrina so much that her suffering lured Oisys to her, she was happy about him showing up at her doorstep so much that she practically jumped him. It´s simply ridiculous that she wasn´t even angry or terified of him afer what he did to her.

From the excerpt in Fallen I thought this book was going to be dark but I didn't know how far it would go. It was perfect. There was a brand new side of Hypnos and it was crazy scary. I felt so bad for Katrina I can't wait to read more about these two characters and their relationship.

If you need a work out *cough cough*, Hypnos is the man to see! Whoosah!! Hot!! A case of mistaken identity turned into love. I must say, I felt sorry for Katrina. All that hot wax? Poor thing :D Great read.

I enjoyed it

Violette is one of my favorite authors. I love her moonlight series. Her dark God saga really bit the spot for me. Her writing and story lines keep me hooked and the sex scenes just add that something extra.
