This is actually a compilation of 2 separate stories originally released in the 80's and 90's. Both stories focus on 2nd chances. The 1st, Baby Blessed, was quite good, following a couple who had lost a son to SIDS and are trying to come to terms with an unexpected pregnancy. Not only are they are struggling with their fears and insecurities about having another child, but they are working through their issues about getting back together after grief had torn their marriage apart. I'd give this 4 stars. The 2nd story, Yesterday Once More, was much more disappointing. A young girl had walked out 5 days before her wedding, claiming that her fiancé and his mother were railroading her into their choices, making decisions for her. She was insecure and walked out rather than try to solve the problems. Now it's 3 years later and she's back to make amends, having never lost her love for her fiancé. I found the whole premise unbelievable. The heroine walked out, leaving him to deal with 400 guests, not to mention the expense that was wasted, all because she "couldn't" talk about it. I'm not sure I would have forgiven her either, especially since she made no move to contact them for the next 3 years, suddenly showing up on the doorstep. All worked out happily ever after, but even as the reader I harbored some resentment and didn't find the resolution satisfying or believable. Since I'd rate this story 2 stars, the combination is an OK 3-star read. Macomber's later writings are much more developed and enjoyable, so I'll be sure to stick to those in the future.

Baby Blessed: 3.9 Stars: This was a good story of a couple pulled apart after losing their infant to SIDS. As a person who has lost a pregnancy due to illness and my only live child due to an accident, I can easily see how this would happen. I think the story adequately stresses the importance of getting counseling and/or dealing with the grief of such situations. I liked that they were able to work through their grief and come back to each other, as this is so often NOT the case. I do feel that the ending was drawn out excessively and by then the ending was overly predictable.

Otherwise, I did like the overall happy ending of the story.

Yesterday Once More: 3.4 Stars: This was a cute little love story, but I would have liked to have seen more concrete details. As a timeline is not presented in the book, I have to assume that this story was placed in modern day. I was born and lived in Wichita, Kansas till I was 34. The references of a nice downtown skyscraper serving as a residential building doesn't ring true to me. In fact, my father was the contractor of much of the downtown area.

The characters in the story could have been more developed as well as their relationships. Some of the couples insecurities appeared very juvenile. Secondly, the fact that the two girls ignored obvious signs about a possible pregnancy then suddenly decided it was a fact without visiting a doctor or taking a pregnancy test seemed odd.

I would have appreciated more details overall.

Taking the book as a whole, it was cute but far from Debbie's best works.

Baby Blessed is about a couple who lost their six-month-old boy to SIDS. Trying to deal with the grief, they separate and go in completely different directions, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Molly ends up in Africa, helping out in a local hospital, while Jordan buries himself in his work and eventually starts up a relationship with a coworker named Lesley. Jordan wants to get a divorce so he flies out to Africa and ends up rescuing Molly from local rebels. Their relationship is filled with miscommunication, misunderstandings, and every kind of passion. Jordan is filled with so much anger and rage that he eventually identifies as suppressed grief, but not before the two manage to hurt each other quite a bit. Eventually the two are able to work through their differences.
Yesterday Once More is about a couple who were days away from marrying when the bride-to-be realizes that her mother-in-law is too controlling and she takes off without any explanation. Three years later Julie shows up in Kansas, hoping to receive forgiveness from Daniel. But Daniel is filled with so much anger and rage that he eventually identifies as hurt, mistrust, and fear. The two are thrown into some pretty unbelievable circumstances and the ending actually seemed thrown together much too quickly.
Both stories were fun reads. Not completely believable. Not stellar. Not even memorable. But something easy to read, because I never got overly attached to any of the characters. Also, they contain some swearing.

Another DNF. I've enjoyed some of Debbie Macomber's books in the past. I remember them as pleasant, light romances set in small towns. This one is actually a republication of a couple early novels and at least story one doesn't follow that formula. I was so disgusted that the MCs were so overcome with desire that they removed their clothing and had wild sex when rebel fighters are outside the African compound they are sheltering in. Really? They had to be ready to move at any moment to escape certain death, and they think it's a good idea to strip off their clothes? I don't want to read about anyone that brainless. I tried to keep going but gave up at page 50.

Story 1-Definitely a 2 star. Just a story of miscommunication between a married couple. The beginning was fine . I didn't like her and the hero is awful. It is a 2 because it is Debbie Macomber.

Story 2- Four star. I love the novella and I like the couple as people and as a couple. Just nice and easy. This is what I expect out of Debbie Macomber. It was smaller of the two stories and more happened in this one and i dint feel like it was rushed. Kt worked.f

That is why this is a 3. If I had to suggest anything I say only read the second book.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It touched my heart in some way. Molly and Jordan were both too stubborn to say how they feel about Losing their baby. They still loved each other but were living in fear of losing a second one.

Usually I can't get into Debbie's books but this one stole my heart!!! What a heart breaking story of two people so in love and have something horrible happen to them and tear them apart. Instead of grieving together they pull apart into their own worlds until one just leaves, drops off the face of the earth or goes to another country to help people. But now they will be together again with Jordan goes to get Molly to bring her home but not to him or for him.

Jordan is an amazing character whom I LOVE! No lie I was like I need a Jordan. His character has so many layers. he has lost so much in the four years that he was happy but he has met someone else and wants to move on. And to do that he needs Molly, but he would never have guessed where she was or why she was stupid enough to go there. When he goes to retrieve her he is overwhelmed with what is happening and just seeing her again. Molly is just as surprised to see Jordan but is so so excited. They have a night of passion, and then he turns cold again, kicking himself to the US and back!!

Molly is another amazing character . She grieved for the most part and is still grieving but taking a different route than her husband. She also has many layers and that is what makes this story so great you CAN'T predict what is going to happen. I was on the edge of my seat routing for them the whole time but Jordan is a stubborn man, and he was making me I'll my hair out its how dumb he was being. He had a chance at everything again, you couldn't just take part in one part of Molly and not the other and it took him the WHOLE book to figure that out. Molly on the other hand was strong and held her ground but she had her moments.

Overall this was an amazing story with amazing characters and plot and everything about it was just awesome!

This book fulfills my book challenge of reading a book that was previously abandoned. This book has two stories so I will review each story. The two star rating is for the entire book. Baby Blessed oh gawd this story was so awful that I hesitate to give it two stars. But I finished it so based on my own rating I was forced to move it from one star to two. These two people argued fucked and argued some more. Just ridiculous. Yesterday One More I actually laughed more than I should over this story. AND there was one line of smut which is a lot more that I expected from this author. I found it annoying that she was written as meek submissive, only 24 when she came back to town to woo her ex again. The author described him with greying hair so how much old was this guy?!? And if he was so much older than why would he allow his mother to bully his fiancee?! I also found it annoying that she didn't go away once he forgave her for breaking their engagement five days before the wedding three years prior. But I came around once I realized she was willing to put her pride aside to win him back. Glad it was short and easy read so ultimately two stars.

"Baby Blessed" I will never need to read this story again. So tired of that couple fighting, but can't keep their hands off each other.

"Yesterday Once More" So many “marriage of convenience” in romance novels, and yet I realize that I don’t know a single soul in real life who has had one. If they’re all as whiny as this one, I’ll be sure not to do this myself, if I ever wind up in a novel.

"Yesterday Once More" also reminds me of another of her stories "Ready for Marriage."

The narrator "Amy McFadden" has a harsh regional accent. She pronounces A LOT of her vowel sounds with the 'uh' sound: uh-vry instead of every, bun instead of been, etc. I prefer narrators like Barbara Caruso and Dick Hill. They don't distract you with voice ticks. I wish narrators would go for having no accent like a news anchor.

Reading the first story "Baby Blessed" was like having an emotional roller-coaster along the characters Molly and Jordan Larabee who are struggling with their relationship after losing their son to SIDS as they try to make it work after being apart for over 3 years! So many ups and downs and I just wanted to slap them both for it XD but it was such a good read though, id so read this again!

"Yesterday Once More" is about Daniel Van Deen and his ex-fiance Julie, she comes back into the city after leaving him before the wedding and realizes she still loves him, now if only she can make him see it too! I enjoyed it and read it its one go though I wished it was a little longer, it seemed a bit rushed near the end but good none the less!

I could not even finish the first story of this book. Reading the synopsis I thought this would be a pretty good read, the characters sounded intriguing and their scenario's sounded heartwarming and pretty interesting to read. However what I got instead was; annoying characters, stupid scenarios, and batshxt events that did not even make any sense what so ever. The writing style of Mrs. Debbie Macomber is good but it also is not that great. The characters are too deep into their own inner dialect, that the romance between the two is hardly ever spoken out loud, and the conversations that are witnessed are a waste of time. Ohmaan I am really upset with this book, I went in expecting to read great things and I am really disappointed with the outcome.

This was a wonderful heartwarming book with 2 stories all about 2nd chances.

In Baby Blessed, Molly and Jordan suffered the loss of their son due to SIDS and essentially put their marriage on hold. Several years later, Jordan decides to move on and get remarried. First, he has to divorce Molly who is working in Africa. Jordan rescues her and discovers that he is still in love with his wife. They just have to conquer the loss of their son and deal with the grief.

In Yesterday Once More, Julie moves back to Wichita and wants to apologize to Daniel and his mother. She walked away several years before days before their wedding. Daniel's mother gets sick and makes the request that she wants them to get married before she dies.

I loved Debbie's books so much that these books were no different. Here style of writing just flows. I know these relationships are happening a lot but I like to think as women we have evolved. In both books the women waiting around walking on egg duels waiting for their men to make a decision on if they will love them enough to stay with them. I can only hope its due to these being older stories as her book I read before this one. But still I enjoyed the book enough to finish it the characters we interesting I'll give her that.

Baby Blessed: Jordan goes to Africa to get his wife, Molly, to agree to a divorce after being separted for 3 years. It was tough on their marriage when they lost their baby to SIDS and they are ready to move on....maybe....

Yesterday Once More: Julie left Wichita and Daniel 3 years ago because the stress of a wedding was too much. She returns now to apologize and finds Daniel's mother requesting forgiveness first because of her declining health. Now Daniel and Julie must make Mrs. VanDeen happy for a different reason and maybe make themselves happy in the process.
