This book is inspired by the journal of Dana Candler who spends most of her time in contemplative prayer in KC, Mo at the Int House of Prayer. She reads, prays, fasts and serves the needy. She details her broken way to find which helps me to realize God delights in us inspite of our weaknesses!

The Bridegroom rejoices over his Bride! I have learned that I am not just a friend of the Bridegroom but,I (as part of his Bride(the church)) am His,and he has firey passionate zeal and longing to be with me, I with Him. That, in and of itself sets passion ablaze in my life, even in the mundane, pain and strife in life; I know with out a doubt my Bridegroom King awaits me someday! He will let nothing stand in the way of loving His Beloved! By far the best I have read!

This book took me on a journey, a journey into seeing things in yet another new perspective. It drew me to Him more and more, to understanding the seasons that we walk through in relating to our Beloved Bridegroom. It increased my hunger to know Him! What encouraging words, what depth, what amazing wisdom Dana Candler has written in this book.

"But hope keeps me ever rattling at the door. Hope keeps me crying out for what my eyes cannot see and my mind can rarely imagine. I hope for my release. I hope the promises are true. I hope in what lies beyond these walls. I hope in a delivering God that sets captives free.
...
Every day she searches the horizon for any sign of her Beloved. This hope is life and this hope is pain."

I let this book kinda wash over me as I read it. Certain themes and concepts jumped out at me, especially this one about hope. It may be a good book to read over again to have new things rise to the surface.

This was an excellent introduction to the love of God. She is an amazing writer. Who doesn't want to grow in their love for God?!?! Also, she is living it this out, so it's a testimony more than a teaching. Read and recommend this book to your friends.

Excellent perspective on what’s happening in our hearts in times of lack and times of longing. The valleys have definitive purpose. Structure was a bit lackluster and tone became droning throughout. This could have been about 5 chapters shorter and had a bigger overall impact. But, a thoughtful look at the brilliance of God’s plan of love; a gift to me from a friend that I plan on passing along to another friend

Life-changing book, one that I have found consistently relevant in different ways over the past 3 years.

She's my best friend, so I'm a little partial... but this is an AMAZING book that everyone should have in their library.

It was good. I loved the message it had to say, I just thought it could have been said in three chapters rather than ten.
