I was looking for books on simplifying my life and saw this book at the library. It was definitely too religious for my taste but i have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. It made me think about aspects of my life that I haven’t considered in a while. I didn’t find any helpful advise about simplicity, but the book was worth reading anyway, as it was thought provoking on a different level.
I don't recommend books very often, but if your life is swirling in a neverending cycle of things to do, people to see and places to go, this is the book for you. Yount covers every aspect of our lives, not just the spiritual. He discusses the motives behind our actions and why decluttering of our calendars, homes and minds is so important to spiritual growth. His ideas are simple and thoughtful. Some of his chapter subtitles are: Cut the clutter and save your soul; Work to live instead of living to work; Make peace with yourself; and Share the gifts of simplicity with others. In the last chapter there are suggestions for retreats and tips for maintaining perspective towards spiritual growth. Enjoy!
