This was a very good, fun and modern HP with two completely opposite people falling for each other.
Dante thinks he knows Carenza and her type, rich, spoiled and one who doesn't want to work hard but he's proved right on some counts and wrong on others. Yes, Carenza has been pampered, after all she lost her parents at the age of 6 but she is someone who also believes in working and now that she is back after ten years she is determined to take over the family business instead of selling it to Dante.
Though soon she realizes that Dante was right, things are too much of a mess and she decides to ask for help with Dante as her mentor but things do get too hot and heavy between them and they decide to just feed the flames while Dante is teaching Carenza.
What I liked that we see the changes they brought in each other lives, with Carenza becoming more focused and she making Dante see that life is not all about work and how to have some fun. Though they pretend to keep it light you can see the unspoken feelings between them.
Why I am not rating it full stars? Mainly because Dante who was too hung-up on his childhood and father's abuse suddenly came over it.
Wonderful emotional read, loved Dante-Carenza,the scenes between them were fun to read,Carenza brought happiness and love in Dante's life, the only hurdle between their happiness and love is Dante's past and his belief's,Dante loves Carenza but his fear that he will hurt Carenza stops him,Carenza helps Dante to understand he is not his father,Dante takes the leap and we have HEA enjoyed the book from page 1 till the last
Another beautiful book in my collection. Loved the characters, loved their banter, loved everything. Except the ending. Felt a little forced or too quick in my opinion. But loved it regardless.
A MOMENT ON THE LIPS is by author Kate Hardy for M&B Modern and also as an Harlequin Presents.
The book blurb reads: Dark and delectable Dante Romano may be, but Carenza Tonielli will never sell him her family’s ice cream empire. Only she needs him-to help her learn how to run it! And when Dante looks at her as if she’s the next decadent sundae on the menu, even wary Carenza just can’t resist mixing business with a bowlful of pleasure…
Cue one red-hot fling that’s blowing her mind! But unlike Carenza, her ice-cool Italian is adept at keeping his emotions well under wraps. So she decides to turn the tables on Dante and prove that sometimes living in the moment is sinfully good for you!
My review:
Carenza Tonielli wants to turn around her family’s flagging ice cream business to success. But she lacks the know-how. Can she ask Dante Romano to be her mentor? After all he’s a successful businessman. But he wants to buy her grandfather’s business and merge with his own! Can she trust him?
Well surprise! Dante agrees to mentor her! What about the attraction sparking between them? Then Carenza decides to mentor Dante in having some fun!
A MOMENT ON THE LIPS sparkled with red-hot sensuality and mesmerizing emotion. Kate Hardy has written a fun, engrossing and fascinating story that kept my interest reverted from the first page. I felt I also walked through the streets of Paris and Italy with Carenza and Dante as the environmental details were very realistic. The vivid imaginary of their surroundings was astounding.
Author Kate Hardy has delivered a brooding, tortured yet adorable hero in Dante and a strong heroine in Carenza ! Read it, highly recommended!
Carenza is trying to save her multi-generational ice cream company from going under or being sold. Dante wants to buy the company. Carenza wants Dante to mentor her on how to save the company instead of buying it. So far, so good, but then there comes the seemingly gratuitous sex. Hey, I am all for sex, but this just rubbed wrong.
Carenza had evidently been gone for a decade and had slept with anything that moved, while Dante was a work-aholic that was struggling to NOT follow in his abusive father's footsteps. He believes the worst of Carenza, a brainless, blonde princess, but he still brings her to strip and have an orgasm within minutes of striking a mentoring bargain??
The whole story just seemd kind of sordid, OK, but just off.
Nice read from a an author whose books I've enjoyed. The romance is between a restaurant heiress and restaurant magnate in Italy. Caranza worked out a deal for Dante to mentor her in the business. But the attraction between them was too potent to ignore so they end up in bed pretty much everytime they meet. While I enjoyed this book, it reminded me too much of a previous book by the author that had similar characters (In bed with her italian boss). I also found it strange that these two would treat sex so casually that it almost felt like Caranza was using sex in exchange for Dante's mentoring.
Carenza and dante's relationship start with a mentorship of keeping the inherited restaurant to carenza though dante had other plan in his mind earlier before seeing carenza. Well, considering carenza as a pro with men, is not my kind of female character that i would expect. It seems that she is so cheap. But anyone could be selfish regarding to catch the lovelife of his/her dream. The storyline was ok, the conversation they had seems like a normal relationship that anyone could have.
I do really like Kate Hardy's books, but I can't help feeling that A Moment on the Lips was never going to live up to just how much I loved The Hidden Heart of Rico Rossi. Food does seem to be a common theme though and once again I was left feeling hungry at the end of this book. This is a nice story and I loved the chemistry between Carenza and Dante, and how developed Dante's back story was so you could understand his character more. I would say though, that the side plot involving a dodgy co-worker was signposted from miles back and given its importance in the story, I would have liked to see it concluded a bit more definitively. An enjoyable read, but not Hardy's best. 4 stars.
I just could not get into this one.....in fact I am archiving it without finishing it. Dante was way to hung up on his past, and the author didn't make his character compelling enough to stick around to see how he recovers. The heroine was way too flighty for my tastes.
i liked it. i loved the fact that the h was willing to settle down and make something of herself. the H character was not well developed though. i would definitely be reading more of her books.
