With delightful illustrations and thoughtful prose, Sandy Gingras strips away the complicated, structured way of life we cling to and helps us find perspective and appreciation in simple things -- elements best found by the water's edge. How to Live at the Beach is a gift book at home anywhere, on any coast, or far from it. For the beach is only a metaphor and with every reading we are How we might live, how we can pace ourselves, how we can appreciate our world, how we can love.
A beautiful tribute to one’s parents who introduced the author to the beach and the many lessons the beach teaches us… “the beach may just be getting us closer and closer to our best selves.”
I enjoyed the watercolor artwork. The text’s find is playful, but at times hard to read.
A cute book for any beach home owner or beach vacation home.
Cute little beach book extolling the joys of life at the beach. Adorable illustrations and great advice for a laid back experience at the beach. This book was in the beach house we rented so it needed to be read!!!
I loved this little picture book! It was very simple in the best way. The message was clear and one we all need to be reminded of often. Slow down and enjoy this life…not just the big things but the little things.
If you're stuck in a rut or caught up in the daily grind, business and complexity of life, thinking you have to take Miserable Road until you turn left at Retirement Ave, take a few minutes to read this little gem. It will help you reframe a pessimistic perspective on life and living!
I got this in 2003 and reread it yesterday. It's going on my desk next year to help me keep perspective! Slow down, enjoy life, have fun in everything you do are the big lessons :)
