After waiting in the dark hotel room for her fiancé and then spending the most wonderful, passionate night of her life in his arms, the misgivings Brianne has been having about the wedding are disspelled. That is, until she wakes in the morning and discovers a mix up with the room keys has brought a stranger to her bed instead.
Jake is just as shocked as Brianne when he realizes he’s made love to the wrong woman, but that doesn't keep him from conspiring to have her again or from trying to win her heart.
It started out so promising. This is a stand-alone but the h is the sister from a previous book.
Brianne works for her ridiculously rich father's cosmetics company and is in Jackson, Wyoming for a month to work on a project. She's engaged to Chad, who originally wanted to bang her on site but once he found out she's a virgin decided he liked the idea of popping her cherry on their wedding night. Brianne wants to be sure they are 'compatible' in bed and begs him to meet her at the hotel and do the deed.
Jake, the marketing guy hired to work on the project is arriving at the hotel where his shrewish-gold digging-doesn't really like sex much-girlfriend is already checked in. He enters the room in the dark and gets into bed and is greeted with a very enthusiastic partner. Can you guess what happened? Of course you can! Brianne and Jake had sex each thinking they were with their significant others! Oh dear, can you imagine? They did the deed 3 times during the night without ever speaking!
I'm being snarky but really, I thought is was a good idea for a suspend-all-belief story but it got so weird. Brianne, Chad, Brandy and even Jake to an extent are so inconsistent. Brianne decides she cant break her engagement and seriously considers not telling him she's no longer a virgin (seriously?). She is alternately confident and strong then meek and mousy when her fiancé is criticizing her.
Chad is all over the place, the jilted fiancé, the villain who blackmails Brianne not to break the engagement, a whiny-Wilbur then just a normal guy. He gave me whiplash.
Jake was doing good but I can't believe he didn't get sick of her hot & cold moods.
Loved Brianne's parents and think the story would have benefited from them being more involved in the story.
I was getting pretty annoyed with all the 'misundertandings' between them piled one on top of the other. Still I stayed up until 2:00 in the morning to finish it. It was like some kind of romance crack for me, believe it or not!
So, I was entertained by it but I would not re-read it.
Brianne had begged her fiancee to make love to her and when he showed up that night at the hotel Brianne was amazed at how good the two of them were in bed. Then when her father called in the morning and said that her fiancee would be taking a different flight and he didn't make it, she turned over and saw a different man.
When Jake heard the womans voice he thought was Brandy, he knew instantly it wasn't and when he saw how beautiful his mystery girl was and remembered how their night together was, he knew they were perfect for each other.
Jake decides it's time for Brianne to break up with her fiancee Chad and marry him. When he thinks Chad and Brianne had slept together, he told her he didn't want her anymore. So when Brianne found out she was pregnant with Jake's baby, she left. She told herself she'd do it on her own but when Jake finds out, he's got a whole lotta butt kissing to do.
Yet again another Kimberley Reeves book that will drive you insane with wanting. She makes the perfect man every single time, all kinds of yummy!
This probably has one of the worse villain that I've read in my 'kindle freebie' shelf. Chad. His name is now a four letter swear word. This guy was a lying backstabbing blackmailing abusive D-bag of a man. I didn't like how he mentally abused his fiance and I didn't like that Jake didn't get down hard and fast on his a$$ right away when he saw the way Chad had shredded and bruised the poor girl. I did like the premise with the mix-up with the hotel room keys, but in reality I find that scenario scaring and more then a little rapey. I get that it was consensual but it will probably give me nightmares tonight. This was fairly well written and edited. I did like getting in free for kindle, but I prefer the Vittorio series better this one. 1 star
Im starting to think Im a Kimberley Reeves fangirl (not mean or stalkerish, I just really like everything I read by her..) This one though is a bit weird to rate... I liked it but then I didnt.. First off I really didnt like Brianne in Little White Lies-- When her sister likens her clothing choices to skimpy and I just didnt like her attitude it couldnt be good.. I was pleasantly surprised at the beginning of this story though.. I still didnt like her attitude or clothing styles-- completely a "me" thing so it shouldnt bother anyone else.. I absolutely loved the H and literally LOL when I read this sentence the morning after--
"darlin’,” he said huskily, “I’ve either just had the best damn dream of my life, or you and I did something very, very naughty last night."
I just loved that :) But what irked me and made me lose interest was just how long the h kept her fiance around.. And I couldnt believe how clueless the h was about said fiance and how wrong she was about how her parents felt about him.. Thats what made me rate it lower than I would have, I just felt she was an idiot most of the time but still enjoyed the book..
Its worth the 1.50 I think though and Ill definitely be reading more from this author..
(There were a few typos, mostly in the middle and towards the end of the book..)
Not quite 4 stars, but actually 3.75 It was a good read and I liked a lot the main characters, Bri and Jake, though sometimes I wanted to kick Jake. But, hey, he's a man, so no news there! Bri and Jake as a couple were amazing. Funny and hot and sweet. I enjoyed their kissing and make-out moments, as well as their cuddling ones. So cute! I also loved Bri's parents. Quite unique parents and very lovely. Awesome two characters! I couldn't stomach Chad. He just made me so sick and angry. The story was very nice and rather original. I liked it. Though I found it a little too long, but that's because I got frustrated at all the bad things kept happening to Bri and Jake. The end kind of surprised me. When Jake found Brandy, his ex, at Chad's while waiting for Bri, I thought, "How cliché! Now Chad's gonna make so that Bri finds Jake with Brandy, and all hell brakes loose!" I was deadly wrong! I got a surprise! Anyway, after that, I started sweating seven shirts for how frustrating and slowly we got to the final. But it was so sweet! Probably worth the wait. Recommended, if you like pure good romance!
I bought this book for a dollar, and it wasn't even worth that I'm sorry to say. I had gotten another book by this author for free (Broken) and I liked it enough that I thought I'd give another one of her books a try. Well, I'm sorry to say I did. This book is completely RIDICULOUS. I can't even begin to say how much. Yes, even the premise is in the realms of 'would never happen' but even so the book started out promising. It just spiraled downward from there. Unlikable heroine, great hero at first but then he turns into a jerk, controlling and abusive boyfriend...this is where it just went completely off the rails for me. The girl eventually breaks up with her boyfriend who then comes and threatens her and is completely abusive, but just as quickly makes a 180 and really is a "good guy" (this is all within like 10 pages) and finds another girl who will dress and act like he wants her to so this is a good thing. I could go on for hours. Just NO. This book was terrible. If you want something decent, check out her other book, but skip this one. It's just bad.
In The Arms Of Stranger was a nice read. Some reviews have said parts are unbelievable, yes but that is the fun of it. Would I mind waking to a stranger in my bed, yeah as long as he wasn't ugly. I liked the characters except for Chad, he needs his ass kicked, to say it mildly.
This book was freebie off Amazon and a one I wanted to read. I don't know the backstory on Miranda but I hope to read that soon.
A solid 4 out of 5, although there were some words missing.
I enjoyed the characters whom were quite believable. The plot was good however a bit far-fetched with the 2 main character's chance meeting and a few other scenarios through out the story. HOW COULD THEY NOT KNOW!!! A frustrating and slow pace till it got to the end, nonetheless a nice "sweet romance".
I've read quite a few books and loved this story but I just couldn't give it the last star sorry...it was great but not completely my style there were many errors where I had to re-read to make sure the wording I thought it was suppose to b was correct with the rest of the sentence.
Liked this one, it was a cute love story and the H was a pretty sweet guy. It totally could have been a little longer though, and was not super impressed with the H and his actions when the fiance came back. But i still liked it.
