Michael Roads had always been close to nature, but when a river started talking to him, he began to doubt his sanity. A series of encounters with the natural world followed, and Roads began to listen -- and let go. He found himself led stage by stage to a final wisdom, remarkable in its simplicity and in its message of hope for humanity. This book, a bind-up of his two best-known works, beautifully articulates that message.
In these two marvelous books Michael J. Roads provides a key to understanding the essence of nature, Self, and to spiritual development. In the first, Talking with Nature, he introduces the reader to his gift of communicating with all forms of nature - trees, rocks, the river. In the second book, Journey into Nature, Michael meets Pan, the God of Nature, who guides him to the next step, or steps, where he integrates with the spirit of Water, Plant, Mineral and Animal and experiences the truth of the often-quoted "adage", that we all are One. After having read these books and realized the true nature of life, the reader takes a giant step forward in spiritual understanding.
I snapped-up “Talking With Nature / Journey Into Nature” by Michael J. Roads, 1985, 1990 because I had never seen full-out communication experiences about nature. The wisdom and experiences are marvellous. Adjectives shouldn't be fancy in a surreal discussion. Book I could have been a story instead of conversation transcripts and Michael didn't discuss family. Do they hear nature? After a break, I read part II. His four children were still unnamed but he gratefully incorporated his intelligent wife, Treenie.
I haven't tried what Michael has but he seemed slow to understand the wisdom. The ideals are straightforward and not entirely new. I was surprised he fought to believe in them. Without ever having face time with nature spirits or journeying out-of-body; I long ago acknowledged some of the nuggets. “We are one” is the most basic, as well as knowing that there is vision, sound, and a shine in everything, which we don't pick-up through our physical construction. I perceive some things a little and might grow stronger at them but always presume an enhanced reality is here, without seeing it. I speak with nature, believing it understands us.
It felt wonderful that new considerations validate my care with plants and critters. Individual life forms truly are vital and I have not been a nut to tread respectfully! Book II is also more engaging because Michael traverses emotional visions as a story, in preparation for a chamber inside a stone. Unfortunately his book didn't share the quest we awaited! I liked the organized progression and seeing Treenie comfort him, after receiving gruelling information mentally. The end seemed embellished, like a film script. He “turned to Treenie, eyes bright”. You wouldn't know how your eyes looked, dude. We are likelier to believe in surreal things, without a flourish being added.
At the end of this book, I felt as though I really believe that there is energy out in our world or reality that is beyond us. There are only few people in this world who can connect with Nature's energy like that. I am more aware of my surroundings and do my best to listen and self reflect. This universe is so powerful and humans don't even know the half of it. Being mindful and in the moment can change a lot. There were a lot of quotes or passages that I connected with. Here is my list.
Your energy is the fresh winds of change moving through your being. Even your inner colors change as the the patterns of your inner Self dances to a new rhythm in life.
Love over the years should endure, grow, expand and blossom.
Allow the inner energy of this stream to pour through your inner Being as a purification.
Doubt is an established pattern of confusion which will deny your experience.
Page 84 doubt destroys faith.
Pg 147&148
Bottom to top - we are a constructive intelligence within nature and that by our actions or misactions we connect or separate ourselves from nature.
Pg 164&165top
Beyond the mind, beyond knowledge I had to open myself up to natures metaphysical realms. Nature revealed to me that within the moment there is movement that can be experienced as though one is attune to the heartbeat of the universe. In this moment there is silence, an within this silence is wisdom.
Pg 229
When humans misuse Nature, the environmental impact soon reveals the effect of that abuse. Equally, if humans physically or mentally abuse each other, the negative effects are quickly revealed in your every day lives and relationships
Nature is affected by negative action and negative thoughts.
Pg 272 Everything you see around you is you.
Pg 104
Love is that which it "IS"
Before such, the mind submits. He who is controlled by the mind dies to the mind...and is reborn.
Such persons relay to the same world, but view it from a different perspective.
They view from Love seeing that which "IS"
Others view from fear seeing that which they believe is.
When others will not support you perception of that which "IS" love will sustain you. When all will support that which is believed in, this maintains the illusion.
Pg 107
Knowing is held in this moment - now
Prior thinking does not contain "knowing" while logic and reason deny the principle of "knowing."
Reacting from fear = "knowing" is denied.
Acting from love, = "knowing" is.
Pg 123 The law of cause and effect. Without it we do not learn.
In surrendering protest, denial, and doubt, you loose nothing, but gain insight and courage.
Pg 179 bottom, top 180 Everybody is really no body. You are not a body, you are a Being with a vehicle called a body. You are All. You are all humanity and Nature.
Pg 237 top Human negativity is a creative force. Such energy builds into a destructive force that is eventually expressed in violence. Negative energy can only be expressed by returning to its point of origin. Our mental garbage can accumulate in the atmospheric and then be dumped back on us in the destructive fury of a storm. Sow-and-reap effect. By yielding to our own inner negative fears we conquer them. Negativity is born from all our many little fears, and those fears destroy the quality of our lives.
Pg 295 top Anything unresolved in the past remains unresolved in the present
Pg 310 "We look at Nature and people through yesterday's eyes, just as we hear with yesterday's ears. We have forgotten how to see anew, the way a child sees, everything brimming with the excitement of discovery. We have labeled and categorized everything, and we have lost the newness of seeing. Put aside yesterday's images and concepts of who they are, and experience them anew, each day. This brings us into the moment or present time. This will allow for more room for love."
