Lot of unwanted crap.. thats what I feel about the story..

The font is so small that, I think there are about 3000 words per page! damn, why do some authors want to prolong the story...

If the description of characters' attires are removed, the book would be reduced to half! So much crap.. Too much crap about retail banking and all, which I didnt understand a word...

Too many coincidences to call it a thriller...

I literally, ran through the pages.. too boring to be a thriller...

It's a superbly spun plot. What began as an accidental death investigation years ago will soon emerge as a crucial piece of evidence and the unravelling of a crime that hits the nation. hard.
The story belongs to the protagonists Raaj Kumar and his svelte wife Serena the ultimate power couple. Raaj is found dead in an accidental fire in his plush residence. He is a financial advisor to high-net-worth individuals and though the inspector in charge Michael D'Cunha suspects foulplay, he can't prove it. the case is closed and Seremna moves ahead in life.
However, the twist in the tale is unforeseen and I have to credit the author that the thriller writer in me didn't expect this.
Enter SP Kabir Singh who is transferred to CBI to investigate a high-profile case that affected the nation years ago. As the mystery unravels, connections from the past emerge as D'Cunha and Kabir investigate stealthily.
What exactly happened that day when Raaj died? Was there anything amiss and what was the crucial link connecting the two cases years later?

A very intriguing unputdownable read!

----------

The book had promise but lost the way midway.

The premise was good. Staged murder to get away from troubles. But the final conclusion was not good.

I revisited Nothing Lasts Forever nearly a decade after first reading it, largely for comfort and nostalgia. Back in 2015, it had left a strong impression as an Indian mystery that kept me genuinely hooked. On rereading, while it didn’t quite live up to that memory, it still proved to be an engaging experience. Despite knowing the story, I found myself pulled in again—unable to fully predict how events would unfold or how character motivations would eventually collide. That sense of narrative grip, especially in an Indian mystery setting, remains the book’s biggest strength.

The novel is at its best in the first half. The setup is tight, the stakes are established well, and the constant switching between timelines and POVs is handled smoothly without becoming confusing. Roughly the first 70% works remarkably well.

Where it falters is in the final stretch: the resolution arrives too quickly, leaning heavily on exposition and rushing through what should have been the most satisfying part. Key mechanics of the central ruse are underexplained—you understand why things happen, but not how, which weakens the payoff. The climax feels abrupt, with little attention paid to consequences or aftermath, leaving the ending oddly hollow.

Ultimately, the book feels more assembled than organically crafted, stretching believability just enough to break immersion near the end. Still, its narrative structure and steady pacing for most of its length make it a decent, if imperfect, mystery reread.

Cover Page: The Book cover has a doorknob and someone’s hand knocking on it. It doesn’t give out much about the book.

Review: As the blurb suggests, the bok is all about a murder that took place in a flat. The police has to derive a conclusion whether it was suicide, accident or foul play involved. This aspect covers the whole book. The book is divided into four parts.

The positive in the book is its moving. There is no part where you feel dull and say it’s so boring. It keeps you intrigued but nothing happens.

The negatives in the book are, first I didn’t like the way it was narrated. It misses the surprise element on the book. For me, thriller means “Ab Kuch Hoga” part, which was completely lacking. The Parts in which the book is divided are more into first murder, second police investigation, third part conclusion, fourth part derivation. So the oomph factor was missing.

Overall a decent thriller.

The beginning is too elaborate to handle. The attires of the characters are explained in so detail that it seems like a Bollywood Page 3 story kind of book. All the important characters are good looking and smart with perfect bodies. The book seemed to live true to all stereotypes among youth and adults living a hi-fi lifestyle in Bombay. Till the time it is revealed in the book that Nikos is Raaj, you think why I am reading a daily life catalogue of a widow, her journey with no major twists. But you keep reading because you are trying to figure out what the book is really about. Then once it is revealed, the books becomes gripping and entertaining and difficult to put down. Suddenly you start relating to the characters, liking them, have sympathy for them or hate the or whatever it is that you think about them.

One of the earlier books by the author, not as good as the later ones. Still I like reading about financial issues especially stock market and this is about a scam of the period before demonetization of physical shares happened. The plot is good and the part of police is unearthed the scam is well explained by the author. Where the book fails is in it's failure to make the narrative crisp and it's English language. The author overcame these drawbacks with experience in his subsequent books and he should be on one's reading list.

Indeed a page-turner, managed to finish it in a few hours in one go. The turn of events kept me agog and compelled me to be awake till the wee hours till I had finished. A little bit of not needed details on attire, page 3 life, adultery. If one can manage to skim through the unnecessary details and keep his focus on the story plot, he/she would definitely enjoy it thoroughly.

I kind of know what is going to happen with this brilliant crime but not the way that I think. The author put a lot of thought and planning into his crime and as a mystery crime novelist I can appreciate his thought process.
I didnt expect the ending but just as well as I like breaks between writing my own books

Page turner.. Excellent read.

Very nice page turner. At times, it felt like where the story is moving or rather not moving at all, but it picks up pace unexpectedly and it is very difficult to put it down.

Book could have been a lot leaner. Twist got spoiled when the inspector finds the birth certificate. After that the story was predictable
