How would you like to fight monsters, train at Camp Half Blood, go on dangerous quests, blow up national momuments (this only counts if you are Percy Jackson on his first quest), save the world from the evil titan king Kronos, make great friends or worst archememies, and lots of other fun stuff? If you would like to do this Percy Jackson and the Olympians is just right for you. Just watch out if you are a demigod. Cause then you should only read The Demigod Files. If you're not a demigod then read all these books. They are great fantasy and by reading these books you can learn about Greek Mythology.

Honestly the best book series because unlike the hunger games series, this series could keep me hooked to the end. After I would finish reading, I wish I was a demigod. I would like to be Poseidon's daughter or Athena's or Zeus's because they are powerful and respected gods with great power.

it is an amazing collection, with starters on each series (percy jackson and the kane chronicles), and as always, these series never failed to captivate my attention.

recommended for: those who haven't read it yet!

My girls LOVED this series. We actually listened to the audio books on our drives around the city and they hated when the series ended. It is great fun and provides a nice background into Greek mythology, which my daughters have now taken to reading more about. Love that!

In Rick Riordan's collection of the first five Percy Jackson books, along with "The Demigod Files" and "The Red Pyramid," the author crafts a captivating narrative that skillfully combines fantasy and mythology. With vivid imagery and well-developed characters, readers are immersed in a world full of adventure. Each character's unique personality adds depth to the story, making it irresistible for readers to delve into their journeys.

I first discovered these enchanting books upon their release, and revisiting them now brings back the same thrill and excitement I felt initially. The fast-paced plot is infused with humor, providing smiles even amid the chaos. Each turn of the page reveals exhilarating moments and unexpected twists, ensuring a delightful experience for all who read them.

The Percy Jackson series was my favorite of all and they still are! They are full of action, adventure and battles with monsters, enemies, and gods. He better beware of the Lord of the Titans, Kronos, who is out to seek revenge on the gods. I am looking forward all of the next books. I hope there are a lot of them.

A good fiction series. But it needs to stop somewhere. I think the author wants to continue this series only because this is what pays him

This series has: The Lightning Thief, A Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, and The Last Olympian. According to Google these are middle grade fiction books so they’re quick and easy to get through. The Lightning Thief came out in 2005 And the last Olympian was published in 2009. I don’t think I heard about these books until 2009/2010. And when a friend introduced me to them, I was hooked.
The premise of these books is that the Greek gods are still alive, interacting and having children with mortals, making a lot of demigod children. These demigods go on quests and prepare for monster attacks. The gods basically behave like they did 4,000 years ago in Greece. The gods also rely on the demigods for assistance in saving the world and solving disputes among them. These kids are trained and protected at Camp Half-Blood, which tries to prepare kids to deal with unplanned monster attacks and other quests.
Percy Jackson is a 12 year old kid who is rushed to Camp Half-Blood to save his life because he is attracting too many monsters in his regular life. These books take place over the course of four-ish years. Percy is 16 by the end of the series. Percy is very contrarian and has disciplinary issues and ADD, probably ADHD, and is generally a problem child. His partner in adventure is Annabeth Chase. Annabeth is incredibly smart, but also categorized as a problem child in general. She ran away from home and landed in Camp Half-blood (Her mom is Athena.) a few years before she was 12.
Percy starts off being unaware that he is a very powerful demigod. Eventually, he finds his place in the world and tries to do his best to save everyone, which can be very hard because they’re very small teenagers. The quests these kids go on are similar to the trials of Heracles and other heroes like Perseus and Theseus.
I read these books through nostalgia-colored eyes, so I was not looking for plot holes. But if I’m being a little critical, there’s a lot of questions that get raised and aren’t really addressed. I don’t think that the philosophical implications were fleshed out, but it’s a kid’s series, so I’m not expecting a nuanced world.
In general, Percy is very charismatic and a very human character. He wants to do the best he can, but he’s a kid, so sometimes he says the wrong thing, or does the wrong thing, but his heart always is in the right place. The supporting cast of characters is also very human and very complex. Including the gods.
These were my introduction to the Greek myths And I really enjoyed them when I was a teenager. I enjoy them now as a thirty something year old lady, I understand that they’re intended for a much younger audience. But I wonder how a new generation of kids would find this series because it feels like it was written for young millennials. Which of course it was, but I wonder how new generations of 12 year olds will enjoy it. 5/5

Love it. I just finished this book again. There are many series in the Percy Jackson series in this order. Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Trials of Apollo. The Trials of Apollo and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard happen at the same time so you need to read them at the same time. But The Trials of Apollo is longer it and is still going on. There are also add ons to each series.

Yes, way too young for me, but I am helping a boy with his reading. It seems to appeal to him, but for me, I find the story so contrived and obvious. Then again, if it makes a boy who is struggling, find reading a pleasure, the book is a winner!

This book series was one of my favorite series on earth. I read the first book, and joined their characters slaying monsters, making friends, and having fun. Then I read the second book, and saw the character's stories build and develop with every new danger and hardship they faced. This hunger grew inside me to read more and more books in the series, until I had a book in one hand, and a fork in the other. I did everything with these books. They were amazing, and are worthy of being New York Times bestsellers

I'm giving this four stars because I think it is a good series for elementary school children. The bits about absentee fathers will speak to certain readers, although I wasn't sure what to think about the stereotypical portrayal of all the moms. Apparently we all bake cookies, have nothing meaningful to say besides "I love you" and it is a huge surprise when we stand up for ourselves or do something daring.

If you need to learn about the different Greek gods and demons, but don't want it to feel like studying, this is a good place to start.

I thought when I finished the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, I would never ever love another book character as much as I have loved Harry. But when I met Percy Jackson, I could just say WOW. :)

He's not perfect. He's clumsy. He lacks confidence all the time but let's give him the credit of being the coolest demigod not just because he's the son of Poseidon but because he just know when to be a hero. And his greatness weakness proves to be his greatest strength after all. :))
