📸SNAPSHOT: Olivia is a hopeless romantic who who runs a flower shop. When she realizes she is being followed everywhere by the same shaggy-haired guy, she calls her older brother for help. Her brother has Austin, his best friend and owner of his own security company, help her out. Austin decides that the best way to make Olivia’s stalker go away is to pretend to be her boyfriend.
💭 MY THOUGHTS: I got this one for free on Stuff Your Kindle day. I am the type of person who always tries to find the positive, but I’m really struggling with this one. The only reason I didn’t DNF is because the book was SUPER short, and I hoped that the wrap-up of the stalker plotline might make it a little better. It did not.
This one just was not for me. I rarely like insta-love stories and this one was VERY insta-love. It was basically the entire plot of the book, with a dash of “oh yeah and there’s a stalker.” I can’t say I would recommend this one to anyone. Maybe if you’re just looking for a short read with smut? But even then, I think there are probably better books out there for that.
This short, entertaining story is fast paced and has an interesting, surprising, and unexpected twist. I love that it’s not your normal bodyguard/stalker romance!
Okay, first off, why does he talk like he's 17? Why does he think so... weird? Nobody thinks like him. It's odd, and it really brings you out of the story due to the unbelievability. It feels cringe, even for an insta-love story. I can't even believe he's a capable bodyguard because he's so... cringe? I really don't think his POV was a good idea. When I think bodyguard, I think "cool". He was not cool.
Now the heroine? I ignored a major read flag before I dropped this—she's a TikTok user. Full stop. That should've warned me to stop, but I gave her a pass, and she only turns out to get worse and worse. How does she get worse? There is nothing worse than a person who uses TikTok!
What's a girl to do when all she wants, is to go to the gym and work out? Yet some men ogle them and ask them out. The day, “Shaggy,” a nickname given to him by, Olivia Clark on the day he came into the gym. Since then feeling uncomfortable because he always seems to be there at the same time. She felt unsafe enough that she changed up her routine to different days, times, and even her routes. To no avail. But, when she goes to the gym, as the first person there and “Shaggy” shows up, she is spooked enough to call her much older brother.
She may not have met Jared until she was a teen but, it didn't mean her big brother didn't take his duties or give his love to her freely. She just needed pointers from him as to what to do. Confront him, talk to the police, or ignore him. None of those options were accepted as good solutions. He said to sit tight and that he would send her information to, Austin his best friend who specializes in situations like this. She tries to tell him no but not happening when he gets things into his head.
Before she knew it she was in the reception area talking with Austin Wood’s secretary, Kara. She is such a nice person who, like Olivia laughs easily, and they could be great friends, if not for the circumstances. Olivia’s laugh is infectious to the point, Austin feels the need to investigate. Kara makes the introduction and says her file is on his desk. Letting him know he already messed up by not reading it. He finds everything about, Olivia delectable.
In his office, he notices she is nervous. So, he sits behind his desk giving her space. Instead of reading the file, he asks her to fill him in from the beginning. That's when he feels bad for ogling her since she has a stalker. As she starts to doubt herself he says none of that. Instincts are given to us for a reason, they are there to protect us. If you are feeling uneasy and off when he’s around then you were good asking for help.
His alpha male has to be showing. Austin’s itching to dominate his woman, and to protect what is his. Now, Austin is confused, he has never had such a visceral reaction to any woman, ever. She is so sexy, and successful, yet she is shy, and so vulnerable. See how the two work closely together to find out who and why this guy is stalking her. The reason will surprise you. But, the outgoing personality she has brings out something in this workaholic alpha male. Can this be long-term or only until the job ends? I totally enjoyed this book.
I got this book based on the curvy lead however I was disappointed with how she was represented. From being written as sounding insecure to confident to insecure (back & forth), as well as being called/described as curvy often to being called/referred to as "little" from him a few times, it felt frustrating as a curvy woman because there is so much pressure to make yourself appear "small/little" in a bigger body and then having that repeated a few times was just disappointing. It does have a lot of spicy parts and the ending was cute. I felt the whole "brothers best friend" thing was an odd thing to add in since there wasn't that much to it? The stalker parts made sense for why they met but it didn't seem to add much to it after a certain point either.
This book felt a bit like a typical Netflix/ Prime romance movie where two people meet and fall instantly in love. I'm not sure, but is it a short story? It felt like it. 😅 At first, the way they fell so fast kinda bugged me a little, but embracing it like a Netflix movie helped me to just take it as it is. In was a short read without drama or breakups, so thumbs up for something nice to pass some time 😊 The whole brother's best friend trope was kinda missing for me, though. It was mentioned that he is, but that was about it.
This was such a sweet, head over heels love story. From the moment he hears her laugh, he's hooked. And the moment she lays eyes on him she's forever his. I loved reading the ways he doted on her, made her feel safe and protected, paid attention to the details, and made efforts to make her feel beautiful and wanted. It was so refreshing and encouraging reading about a curvy short girl like me and watching her feel loved and treasured. I loved seeing her come alive in her skin as her self-confidence grew.
You know a book has captured your attention when you force yourself to go to bed at midnight, then once you’re all tucked in, you go back to reading until 1 AM. Then you can’t wait until the next night to hurry up and get here so you can finish it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The way Austin fell fast, hard, and first was totally swoon worthy. And I loved how even though Olivia had moments of doubt, she was still unapologetically herself. The chemistry and steamy anticipation between these two was everything you could want in a quick, romantic read.
Definitely a good cutesy little read for insta-love short story. They both fell really fast for each like within minutes. I feel like the epilogue should have been like a year or two later, it was only like a couple days later. I wanted to read more to their story.
I also wish to get a reaction on Olivia’s brother as she now dating his best friend. Also wanted to know more of what happened to “Shaggy”.
Such a sweet love story of Olivia who finds herself with a stalker every where she goes. Her brothers friend Austin happens to be in security. She meets with Austin and she finds herself feeling love at first sight. He finds the same connection that only grows as he stays with her to protector her from the mystery stalker. What you get - brothers friend, age gap, curvy virgin heroine, he falls first, spicy spicy romance.
I really wish there was more interactions with the stalker. Less steamy scenes and more stalker scenes would have made this novella even better. Don’t get me wrong the steamy scenes were decent, I just really enjoyed the stalker part of the story. Maybe more scenes with Austin being possessive over Olivia while they are out and see the stalker. I loved Austin & Olivia and their connection and interactions were cute. I’m such a sucker for bodyguard romances.
I really enjoyed this! It was short and so very sweet, Austin was a delight. I usually don’t go for the insta-love trope, but it honestly worked for this story.
I just wish there had been more bodyguarding to do. The resolution with her stalker felt very lacklustre and anti-climatic. Where was the dramatic rescue scene?
Still, I’ll be checking out the epilogue and the authors other bodyguard stories!

The female lead was wonderful. Olivia was this amazing wholesome character that you want to succeed. And even with the danger you still can’t help but want a happy ending without stress. Austin falls head over heels and it’s the best thing ever. Really enjoyable
love the curvy rep. BUT I understand why so many booktokers, booktubers, bookstagramers dislike insta love now. This was a quite a short book, novella like, so I get that the main characters had to be moved along quickly - I don't necessarily have anything against instalove but I understand the dislike for it now. All in all I did enjoy this for what it was.
I really enjoyed this book, it was wholesome in so many ways! I’m usually a dark romance girlie but I feel like this is just what I needed! I wish it would have been longer! The dirty talk and spice really surprised me, not much of it but it was delicious! Some terms she used were a bit cringy but you get over it fast.
Definitely recommend for a light one session read !!
Its a quick-insta love-paced story. Olivia and Austin were good together although for the epilogue it would of been good to a year or two down the road instead of a couple days.
Good storyline and great characters The plot seemed to come to a sudden and uninteresting end considering the build up Lovely relationship between the characters, proper giddy girl moments Super sweet all the way through and a few spicy scenes
Ummm I don’t mind a quick story, if it actually makes sense. It’s referenced as over the top love story and that’s pretty spot on. Not saying don’t read it, it just wasn’t for me.
