Dave Hart, charismatic leader of the fallen giant, Grossbank, is dead. But it’s worse than that. He's in love.In the midst of an opium-and-sex-fuelled haze in the heart of Cambodia, having made billions of dollars from Grossbank’s collapse before faking his own death, he is desperate to return to London and get The Girl. And in this case, it's not just any girl – it’s Laura 'TwoLivers' Mackay, the most intelligent, independent, powerful woman around … with the kind of figure that would make a dead man restless. But how exactly do you rise from the dead? How do you go about resurrecting the financial world following a devastating economic crash? And why are some of the shadiest figures in organised crime so keen to give you upwards of a hundred billion dollars? The Ego's Nest is a witty, gripping, fast-paced tale of one man trying to stay true to his beliefs no matter how jaded and immoral they may be, in a world where ethical business is obviously bad business.

"The Ego's Nest is a witty, gripping, fast-paced tale of one man trying to stay true to his beliefs ..." says the back cover of David Charters fifth book featuring the financial criminal Dave Hart. That the series has reached a fifth volume and is excitedly acclaimed by other reviewers here will be an instant recommendation for those whose tastes run to an absurd fantasy liberally laced with sex, drugs, violence and amorality.

Good luck to the author and his publishers. Others may share the repugnance with which I gave up after seventy of the book's one-hundred-and-eighty pages. Because reviews require a star rating, I have awarded one - but this is the first of 176 reviews that I would willingly have given none at all.

PS On the subject of egos, note how easily the change from 'David' to 'Dave' and the omission of a few letters from 'Charters' has transformed the author's name into that of his "hero."

This book encompasses everything I detest about the world. It describes perfectly how a low-life modern-day thief can thrive in a world obsessed with pound notes.

Witty and incisive commentary on the workings of the City of London. Dave Hart is totally without any moral scruples. You have to like the guy!
