Yep, I'm reading a bunch of these!

One thing this made me think a lot about is that kind of story-telling that's really self-conscious about how fantastical it's being? Lara plays cricket! She waterskis! She will point out at every turn how amazing it is that a dog can do this!
This kind of thing always confused me as a kid, because it feels like the author is telling you to imagine the thing (then you should be amazed at how crazy the thing you're imagining is), rather than *them* imagining it? Like, tell me how you think a dog would waterski! Add fun details!

And a thing I'm noticing more on the moral front is, Lara is just not very *nice*? I mean, she's a cool crime-fighting superdog and all, but she is really full of herself, she is constantly belittling everyone else, and she hates other people getting the limelight. I don't know if that's part of the real-life-Lara's personality, or if it's just a moral dimension the stories are kinda missing?

Super Spy Dog Lara is faced with her biggest challenge yet. Her nemesis, the evil Mr Big, has escaped from prison. Not only does he want to frame Lara and land her in big trouble, he's got his evil eye on the Millennium Diamond. It's the world's most precious jewel - and it's about to go walkies . . . Spy Dog to the rescue! Gripping, funny, adventure fiction with brilliant illustrations throughout - boys and girls aged 7+ won't be able to put it down!

This book was good but it was kind of boring at the end. I wish next book will be more interesting.
