Firstly, in the interests of clarification, someone in the comments has erroneously posted that I am the Author’s PR person. This was news to me, but thanks for the promotion! I do work with the Author as a web builder, I would also consider him a dear friend, but no opinion piece I’ve ever written about the author or his work has ever (and nor will it ever be) commissioned by him. It is written purely from a love of the subject matter and in the interests of sharing that appreciation with others. My opinions aren’t for hire, that’s not how I roll - and besides, you couldn’t fake this amount of love anyway, not even for a bajillion gold coins ; )

So without further ado - A Review…
‘The Way It Is’ will likely challenge readers before they even open the cover. And if they are challenged by the title they won’t find the inner pages any less confronting. Academics in particular will find this work monumentally challenging. Why? Because this book presents that the heart is infinitely more intelligent than the brain. It presents that it is possible for ANY ONE of us, to deeply know ourselves and the world, by first deeply connecting to our inner-most aspect. True knowledge is wisdom and wisdom comes from within, not from studying myriad texts high and low and gathering as much information from outside yourself as possible in order to get letters behind your name, and also, and this has to be said, in order to avoid the deep hurt that keeps you from feeling deeply your heart, and its already all-knowing nature.

If you zoned out at ‘wisdom comes from within’ you can come back now – this is not New Age airy-fairy mysticism (no offence to all the Airy-Fairies intended) – increasingly this is provable science. In recent years scientists have come to know that the heart is not just a big ole’ muscle that merely pumps blood around the body. The heart cells are actually neural cells, the same as are found in the brain, in fact not only are they similar but they are actually instrumental in the development of brain cells. What is more, the emanation of the heart can be measured by an electrocardiogram reading at a distance of three feet from the body. The quality of this emanation affects everyone around you and even tangibly affects the brain development of a mother’s infant child (see the work of Joseph Chilton Pearce for more). So, true intelligence comes first from a brain that is in harmony with a heart. When I was at University my heart was a fortress and my brain was my Ivory tower, and the more locked up in my tower I became the more I was congratulated by my lecturers and my peers, and the less I was connected to my body and my heart. Again, not conceptually speaking – practically speaking – I didn’t listen to or love my body in PRACTICAL terms; I pulled all-nighters to get assignments done and then fed my body coffee when it was exhausted, or ate sugary treats or drank a wine in the evening for relief. All of this is pretty common you might say. Yes, very common, but loving and nurturing to the body and the heart it is not. And if the heart is the centre of intelligence, then it follows that I was making myself quite ignorant by my own behaviours. It is simple, poison the body and the blood and you compromise the quality and integrity of the thoughts you have --‘what you feed the body so too will be the integrity of your thoughts’ (SIB, Facebook status update ;) June 2012). Before you argue this, ask yourself why it is so difficult to change the unloving behaviours that you have towards your body. Why for example is a sugary treat called a ‘treat’ at all, why isn’t it called a little packet-of-poison? Because they would never be able to sell it at the supermarket counter, you say? Ah, but they would -- cigarettes are a testament to that. Every year new smokers take up smoking despite knowing it is poisonous. There is something very awry with a species who think they are intelligent but haven’t figured out the basics of self-care. How many people have truly reflected on the absurdity of this? What other species on the planet willfully neglects their physical body by eating food and ingesting substances that cause the onset of disease? Do cats do coffee, do ducks take diet-pills? Do bears drink beer? What makes people so un-natural to their own nature? Do chimpanzees get collagen injections? OK, not a great example, why would they need to with that naturally full pout I hear you say, but…you get my point.

This book explores a history of human nature that perhaps we have not been able to consider because we have for a long time relied on an intelligence that is not first founded on the simple cultivation of love in the body. One day we will realize that true love and true intelligence are interchangeable terms, but that day will only come when we allow ourselves to feel with our true brain rather than think with just that little brain in our head. We might also find that we know a lot more than we could have ever thought possible because this kind of intelligence doesn’t rely on recall and memory but on a vast knowing limited only by our ability to feel with our heart (read: super-intelligent ‘chest’ brain). This book is written by someone who, time and again, has demonstrated in action and in word the intelligence of the heart and so, from that knowing this book comes, and it is unlike any world history you will have ever read. And it’s true, the book makes some big claims to truth, but note this and note well, it is NOT asked of you to believe them, (and this is repeatedly reiterated) - you will know in the first few pages whether this book is for you or not. Do not read on if it is not for you. Respect your position. If it is too challenging or you just think its rubbish, that’s ok. Respect your position. The author certainly does. This is not a text that is written to convert anyone to the author’s claimed truth, or to garner followers (as it certainly won’t be palatable to the masses). It merely presents possibilities. Feel the possibilities for yourself…or not. Either way, you are awesome.
5 (gazillion ;-) stars from me.

Although I found this book challenging to read it was well worth the effort. No other writer has so clearly shown that if "everything is energy" then it follows that "everything is beacuse of energy". A must read for anyone who is wondering why the world is as it is.

Is this a book? I found this on a friends shelf while staying at their house. I was interested because I am completing a PHD in Philosophy. The title intrigued me, as it is assertive, some may say dogmatic. It reminded me of those mis-titled Jehovah Witness books, the Truth!

I won't go into the specific of the book because it is pointless, baseless circular reasoned pap based on Theosophy- which perhaps in the minds of a lay person ranks as a valid philosophy or science- but it widely reputed to be derivative second rate metaphysics of a fringe group claiming moral authority by way of connection to lineage of ancient knowledge(s) loosely collected together as a so called perennial philosophy; the chief exponents being persons of dubious character and hardly revered as contributing to the debate to which they claimed authority.

The author, for want of a better word, sets about setting up some classic rhetorical arguments and fallacies, and resounding ad hominem arguments ( by attacking the readers critical thoughts and its process as a priori to understanding his 'treatise') He lunges from this to prejudicial language, biased statistics (illness, disasters for example) , and worst of all the logical sin of 'begging the question' at length- that is, assuming the premise of the argument claims to prove the conclusion.

It is a collection of old idea's presented somehow as facts, which all aim to support the idea that the author is connected to this so called truth in some divine way. A classic 'I know better' argument if ever there was one. Worst of all, you are not left edified or elucidated. Simply confounded at the incoherency which is thinly disguised by a claim that the writings can only be understood by utilizing undeveloped parts of the super mind which the author possesses and you, the reader, must desire.

It is evident that the earlier reviewers are somehow members of the Authors group and have given the "book" a rating of 5- or as one breathlessly implores- a gazillion stars- Talk of confirmation Bias; Here is it is buckets. The work deserves zero or less but that ranking is not possible here. My guess is more zealots will ensure it has one of the best ranking on good reads. And I am also certain, based on the false premise of this work of fiction that the same aforementioned readers will consider me lost in my intellect, but it is a brighter place than the underworld of hazy ideas this Author inhabits.

Readers, avoid at all cost and save that precious time for something more productive...like picking the dirt out of your big toes!

I too saw the series of these books and asked to read them. It is the worst grammar i have ever experienced. Total nonsense. Do not even waste your time on trying to read it. Serge clearly thinks he is god the way he talks in his books. Thats if you have time to reread every sentence 10 times just to make sense of it. Seriously how could anyone agree to publish this!?!?!?!?!?!?

I started this book in 2006 and have never stopped reading it. It is the authors very first book and it was purchased for me by someone else as at this stage I did not know the author. It feels like this book has no end, as I can continue to read it from any point in the book, moving forwards and backwards at any time and there is always so much I take away from it. I have in fact never once read the book straight from start to finish. At first it got to me that I hadn't done this, but more recently I realised it's because each time I read a section there is so much that I am left to ponder on about life and about the whole universe and our existence that I need to go away and 'process' it. I then return to the book, sometimes within a week or two, or a month or even years, and continue reading, often from a totally different place. I have never before experienced this with any book, a book that I continue to read and take more and more from each time I read it. I have done the exact same thing with all books by this author. To me this says the depth that this author writes from, a depth that seems bottomless and constantly available to all who also choose to go there! These books have changed my life, and will change any readers life, on more levels that we are even aware of - truly brilliant and so so needed in a world that is so upside down and needed to make sense of.

I pretty much devoured this book as I felt like I had been waiting for my whole life for something like it. I had read many, many spiritual books leading up to reading The Way it Is but this is unlike any of those spiritual self help book.

I have always been one of those people who feel life and experience life with my whole senses and not just reduce life to a mental exercise. If you are also one of these people you will enjoy the richness of what this book offers as it speaks to you in such a spherical way.

If you have always prided yourself on your mental acuity and struggle to feel more of the subtleties of life than you will probably not like this book as it is not written in a conventional academic way. That being said, with some openness and a readiness to feel more of the subtleties of life, you may just find this book as life changing and enriching as I did.

From the moment I first held this book in my hands I could feel it was different from any other book. My hands began to tingle and I was became aware that whatever we do in life there is first a body experience. What we do with that first feeling in our body is a choice thereafter. So to feel the book first then read that the book was bringing a truth about energetic awareness, I realised that a person has to want to be open to reading this book otherwise it will seem confusing. Are you ready for energetic truth in ALL aspects of your life? If so then go for it!

This book is one of the finest, from the amazing writer and presenter of Truth Serge Benhayon.
The revelations offered here are absolute gold. Finally, ALL of life makes sense, all questions answered, and it's easy to understand.
The writing style is different, and can take a little warming up. But it is definitely worth persevering as it all does make complete sense.

It's one of those books you can reed and then re reed as it gives you different things depending on where you are at when reading it. In fact I have found that with all Serge's book.

This book has changed my view on life and how I live within it. I always had a sense that there was more to life and that I was missing something that was sitting right in front of my face and this book has named exactly what it was I was missing. I now know that the energetic quality and truth of everything comes first before anything else. I was not taught this anywhere else and in fact I was sold the complete opposite via the education system, that is, that what you do and how much knowledge you own will get you through life. And get by I did, but in allowing myself to be open to the energetic truth of life and to then make a choice to live knowing about energy first I am experiencing a life full of love, joy, harmony and stillness. Because of this book I do not have a feeling of missing anything.

This is one of the most revolutionary and evolutionary books ever written for humanity. It explains the destructive role of reaction in our lives – something that we normally treasure as 'drama' but which is ultimately totally debilitating to our vitality. It makes clear how we let these forces through our bodies from an outside source, and in doing so we relinquish our natural God-given authority and love. This book began the biggest change in my life – a turn-around of how I view the world, others and myself, and a miraculous turn-around on my health and well being. Highly recommended.

The book supported me in many ways. From childhood on I had questions about life and God and the universe that never got satisfiably answered - neither by my parents, nor by school, nor at university, nor from the church, nor from other main religions that I studied intensely across the globe.
This book offered a view of life, that for the first time made sense to me and therefore inspired me deeply.
I specially enjoyed the English language, since I am not a native English speaking person. At times the book seems to be written in old-style English, which was an additional bon-bon for me!

I found this book made so much sense to me, it made me far more aware of my responsibility in how I live my life on this earth. Through this book I came to understand what life is truly about and it has has answered so many questions that I had for the previous 50 years of my life. Life makes so much sense now and I have found myself so much more committed to living this life with the huge support that I received from my understanding.

Prior to reading this book I had always experienced reading as a purely mental activity. Reading this book felt vastly different. It felt alive and power packed with life's truths. A refreshing and transformational read to say the least.

Reading this book the first time way back when it was released I devoured it - did I understand it? No it was challenging and confusing on many levels - in that, the way I was living was at odds to what was being presented - energetic integrity and responsibility - I had no sense of what this actually meant at the time. Reading until finished was a way of having 'done' the task at hand - I have read the book now what? A testimony to the fact that life is often defined by what we do rather than who we are. Essential to the crux of the book is that we are more than what we do - we are grand, we are amazing beings and yet the world does not support us to know that. Is a book supposed to leave you with universal size questions? - this one does and to this day I am unfolding what each word has meant for me.

I agree, a life changing book unlike any other - isn't that just what we need!
I first read this book over 10 years ago and it marked the beginning of some massive changes in my life. I had to read with an open mind and a willingness to see what was being presented about life and all it's energetic interplays. l've recently re-read it and found the experience completely different. Everything I read is something I have now come to know for myself through my own experience and observations over the last decade. It is a truly life-changing book if you're up for the level of responsibility it asks, but it is freeing like nothing else... from the merry-go-round of same old, same old life repeating itself. It just makes sense of it all.

I have to say, I found this one of the harder books in this series to read. There is something about the authority in which it is written and simplicity of the message that had me scrambling, but in a very good way.

This is the history book that needs to be in schools as it peels back that viel on the energetic element of life that has become relegated to something new age or spiritual, rather than the day to day reality that it is.

Like all of the books in this series it is not a quick read, but one that unfolds life like no other.

I read this back in 2007 straight through. Beforehand I've plowed through so many spiritual books looking for something that could ease the thirst for truth but no one really delivered what I was looking for, until I read this one by Serge. I cannot say that I understand everything but most importantly it feels true and that is what counts for me. Well worth a read, and a re read.

The clarity offered by "The Way It Is" about life, and the universe we all live in is an eye opener. It offers us that life has much more to it than society tells us, and leads the way in how to live an authentic and meaningful life.
