Spiritual Survival in the Last Days

Rate this book
What can we expect now that we are in the midst of the last days? What events are prophesied to occur? And how can we prepare ourselves - both physically and spiritually - to survive this tumultuous, exciting time? In Spiritual Survival in the Last Days, authors Blaine and Brenton Yorgason explore statements made by modern prophets concerning the last days. They examine what judgments, disasters, and chastisements we can expect. They then explore how to survive these things by standing in holy places - developing our personal testimonies, repenting, attending the temple, seeking personal revelation, and spiritually unifying our families. They emphasize the importance of following the Lord's living prophets in such matters as food storage, getting out of debt, keeping the Word of Wisdom, and staying sexually pure. "If," the Yorgasons conclude, "as individuals or as a people, we are striving to obtain the Spirit [by] making sincere efforts at repentance and a closer walk with God, then we will be able to survive spiritually during the calamities and glories of the last days."

This book tells of what is to come in the last days before Christ comes. We need to stand in holy places and not be moved. It talks about what we need to do to prepare so we will not fear, both temporally, spiritually and emotionally. It is a good reminder and check as to where I am with it all.

I cannot say how much I actually learned from this book. It amazes me how much I learned. You'd think growing up in the church and having a testimony at 12 would mean I'd have known more, but that was not the case. There is so much that I need to work on...but then again, I'm trying.

This isn't for anyone who is "faint of heart," it's a little overwhelming to learn all that is going to happen, and if you don't feel prepared at all, it can certainly be frightening. However, it ends so gloriously, telling the reader how to be prepared. All the things that the book states are doable.

Amazing read.

When you are in a Gospel Docterine class about the Second Coming and you want some more information than the classic answer, "If you are living the commandments - there is nothing to fear", I think this is a great book. It is set into two parts - the first is a collection of all the modern day revelations about what will happen in America before the Second Coming. The second part is the personal evaluations we each need to make as individuals to be prepared for the days in which we live. I own a copy I would be happy to lend out.

This is an intense book. Divided into two parts, first what is going to happen in the last days.... Scarey. And the second part, what can you do to prepare yourself to live in those times. I tend to focus and physical preparedness, food storage, 72 hr kits, etc and I realize that although those things are VERY important, it is just as important to prepare spiritually. This book has helped me take an inventory of my life, I look at what I need to do to better be prepared.

I started reading this initially for chapter 2 regarding what modern-day prophets have said about the US Constitution. I kept reading it because I found the Yorgasen research to be thorough and insightful regarding other aspects of spiritual survival. It was a good pep-talk for girding up your loins and taking fresh courage to face the challenges of the future. I have dog-eared several pages to use as references.

This book is hard to put down. I loved this book. I have read it more than once, and referenced much of the scripture in it. Looking at today's events I am amazed at how accurate many of the foreseen events are in this book which was written abt 1990. So many accurate descriptions of what is going on NOW. Great Book.

This is very interesting to me. It is talking about the profecies of the last days before Christ comes again and how to prepare one's self. It is bleak while at the same time hopeful.

The last chapter of the book makes you feel good.

The first part of the book takes you through the events of the last days... and the second part how to be prepared in every way. John Taylor's dream was interesting. Some of the foretold events have already come to pass since I read it when it was published years ago.

LDS brothers Blaine and Brenton Yorgason have written several books together and individually, this is one of their best. It gives heart felt advice to those who feel challenged by the modern world.

A really good book, many good insights about a variety of gospel subjects including the wrath of God, chastening, Joseph Smith, being born again, opposition from the adversary, controlling your thoughts, the temple endowment, priesthood keys, etc I underlined and pondered about what I read a lot.
