I Remember When... by Dawn Wynne is a creative interactive board book that gives children a glimpse of what life was like before all the high tech gadgets of today.

Asked by her grandchildren to explain what life was like when she was a little girl, grandma begins reminiscing of times past. She recalls typewriters, phones with dials and computers that took up entire rooms.

I Remember When... is a delightful book that children of all ages will enjoy. Adults will also take pleasure in the memories the book evokes.

Time to travel back in time with your child and grandchild and reminisce about when television was in black and white with antennas, box like record players, when babies rode in the front seat of a car and computers built as big as a house.

When I started to turn the pages of the book I couldn’t help but laugh. It was funny to see the old style rotary telephone and the typewriter in the book, and then I turned to look at my keyboard and my cell phone…LOL!

We have come a long way. But am glad Dawn Wynne took us back to the past with this story. The story started with the grandchild asking her grandmother what it was like when she was a little girl. The interesting thing about this book is being able to actually see the items and touch them. Any grandparent will have fun reading this book to their grandchildren. I highly recommend I Remember When...

I only review the self-published books that are worth checking out. This one just might be.

A little girl asks her grandmother, “Grandma, what was it like when you were a little girl.”

The grandmother tells her granddaughter all about life long ago, when there were dial phones, and black and white tvs, and typewriters, and when clothes were hung outside to dry, and record players, and cameras with film, and pet mice not computer mice and enormous computers and when grandmas read to their granddaughters.

The fun part of this little book is all the 3-D add-ons to the story and, of course, all the memories a book like this will bring to the older generation.

A lovely and fun look back at the old school stuff most of us grew up with. Although I am not a grandma, I felt old after seeing these "antiques". It is a cute way to show younger children about our lives.
