When a body is found at the construction site of a high-end development, news shakes through the small town and speculation runs wild. Somewhere out there is a murderer, and as she stumbles across the clues, they set their sites on Megan.
Rimmy London's cozies are always free of swearing, graphic violence, and steamy scenes. So, go ahead and turn the page, worry-free. (Also, the dog lives)
Megan Henny has left her home, her nursing career, and boyfriend, whom she has realized she doesn't want to marry, behind, and moved to a little coastal village to start her own shop.
It's not totally impulsive. She loved the many family summer vacations in Seacrest growing up, and she's had dreams for years of owning one of the little shops on the boardwalk. She's planned--but never acted. Then she nursed her best friend through her final battle with cancer, and extracted from her a promise to follow her dreams. Her boyfriend also proposes, and she realize she has been leaning more toward breaking up than marrying him. He's superficially sweet, but it's a cover for his controlling behavior. She sells her house, buys one in Seacrest, and also buys and empty shop.
Both house and shop are in rough shape when she arrives, but she sets to work immediately. In three weeks, she's ready to open her scooter rental shop. She's met a neighboring shop owner, Margaret Thornton of Marg's Books, and hired her fourteen-year-old grandson to help out in her shop. A prank between two cousins old enough to know better leads to her meeting Kenneth Bradburn, whose family owns the new luxury development he's overseeing, and his cousin, Estelle. He's a bit full of himself and thinks the boardwalk her shop is on should have been torn down, but he's friendly and very handsome. She meets Santiago, a college student "taking a break," when he knocks on her door, as a volunteer for Park Rescue, to tell her the drenching rain is putting her and her property in immediate danger. She has to evacuate.
Santiago is pretty good-looking, too, and kind and friendly.
Other shop owners, a local fireman, a construction foreman unexpectedly willing to help do the vital work on her house, insisting insurance will cover most of it.
She also meets a big, clumsy, stray Great Dane, whom Santiago has informally dubbed Fred. Megan is afraid of dogs. Fred needs a friend, and keeps showing up when a big dog acting like he belongs around her is helpful. Gradually, they make friends.
The big storm and the resulting flood isn't the worst excitement in Seacrest, though. One of the workers on the development site is murdered, and people Megan has met, and likes, look like good suspects. Fred brings her a pearl necklace, and it doesn't belong to Margaret, who has some casual jewelry in her bookshop, or the owner of the jewelry shop, either. Some online searching shows it's probably a lot more valuable than she initially assumed, too.
The murder, the necklace, and Fred leading her to other buried treasure is getting Megan very, very nervous and worried. And despite herself, she can't stop investigating.
It's a fun book, largely due to Megan, Fred, and a lot of the people they meet being really likable, fun to get to know despite flood, murder, and some serious questions about what kind of town Seacrest really is.
The Seacrest boardwalk had been a dream for Megan Henny since childhood. But now standing in front of the address, the abandoned shop in front of her was a dilapidated wreck! All the paint had peeled off, the door was hanging, windowsills were splintered, and the sandy area was overgrown with weeds. She would be opening a rental shop in Seacrest, her dream, and her promise to her deceased best friend, Allie. She pulled 10 piles of weeds and the space was fresh and new. She could do this!
Three weeks later, she was open for business. An older man wanted to buy, not rent, despite this being a scooter rental shop. Her 14-year-old assistant selling the small items in the shop moved slowly with a permanent glum face. Even his smile was glum. Then someone yelled, “Thief”, and she saw a man run with a purse in his hand. She chased him and he tripped over a dog – and started laughing! He started looking around for his glasses which Megan saw were now on the dog’s nose! It had been teasing between his cousin Estelle and him, but everyone heard her yell and thought it was a real purse-snatching. The man was Kenneth Bradburn whose family was building million-dollar homes at the edge of town. As she walked back, she glimpsed the dog but he disappeared. She was uncomfortable around dogs since childhood. But she may have a different opinion of “Fred”…
Megan meets others from the shops, including Santiago, a young college student who loves to flirt. There is also a fireman, construction crew, and many others. But there is also a murderer. A body had been found up at Edgewater Estates. Can the murderer be identified before tragedy strikes because it look like Megan may be the next target?
This series is off to a great start with memorable characters and a good story line. You never know what to expect! Grab your copy and get to know Megan’s neighbors.

This was my first time reading a Rimmy London book and it definitely won’t be my last! Megan has moved to Seacrest to start a new life on her own after losing her best friend and turning down a marriage proposal from her boyfriend. She just wanted to follow her dreams and make it on her own away from everything and everyone from her past. After only one day as a business owner, her home is badly damaged by a flash flood and her business is broken into, robbed and badly damaged by the same storm. While a wonderful bunch of people and one very large Great Dane enter her life as a result of her misfortune, it becomes overshadowed by a body being found in the new development just outside town. Megan is drawn into the mystery of the murder and a seemingly connected series of events, but who can she trust? Everyone around her falls under suspicion at some point. This book is so masterfully written that it had me guessing until the killer is revealed at the end. There are sweet hints of romance and even a scene which brought me to tears! Don’t miss this one! It’s a gem!
This was an okay book. It was nothing special, but I enjoyed listening to it. I've seen some reviews criticising the editing of the book, but I can't really comment on that as the audio kinda hides these things.
The book is about Meghan, who moves to a small town to prove to her dead best friend she can live a happy life. She's also running from a toxic relationship. The mystery part of the book is a little slow to start, and I would say it's more cosy thriller than mystery as the suspense is more prominent than the mystery itself.
Meghan as a character is not really loveable. She's mostly helpless and relies on another's help a lot, even when she states she wants to stand on her own. And she makes some silly choices. The one interesting part about her is her relationship with Fred, the skittish great dance she kind of adopts after finding him on the street. I truly believe that that dog is the best character in the book. The characters are not really thought out and quite shallow. I actually liked Kenneth the best because he showed some insecurities. One more annoying thing about Meghan is that her attraction to basically all available men in town is in focus. Why? Is it to create suspense in the romantic front as well? It's quite obvious that the men in her life will have to fight for her in the other books in the series, which is just cheap plotting.
The mystery part was handled quite well. The blame shifted constantly, there was a lot of open questions, which made it interesting, though a bit unrealistic. But it's fiction, so that's okay.
The audio narration was okay. I didn't really like the narrator's voice but that's a me problem.
Overall, it was an okay story with some annoying aspects. But if you like cosy light mysteries and don't need great characters, this might be for you.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery story with all the characters. The main character was Megan Henny.
Megan Henny decides to move and live in a small town of Seacrest. She want to open a shop on the broadwalk. By doing this she will be honoring her best friend dream. But after opening her shop a purse snatcher dashes out the front door. She runs after him and he collided with a huge stray dog. After that she finds out that the man was only playing a prank on his cousin. That night a bad storm comes through and almost washes away her house and later she find out that her shop was broken into and the new scooters are gone. But that's not all the things that happened around town while she live there. There is a person that gets murder and she decides to find out who murdered them.
This was a fun mystery story to read. It had a few laughing and giggling throughout. It was fun trying to solve the mystery.
I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
After Megan’s best friend dies of cancer, Megan quits her nursing job, sells her house, and moves to Seacrest to live her dream. She has invested most of her money to purchase a shop and a house, both of which are rundown and needing a lot of work. Her new life begins with a vandalized shop, stolen merchandise, and a flash flood. With help from her new friends, things begin to improve. But who is responsible for the vandalism? When the troubles escalate to a murder, Megan doesn’t know who to trust. This is a a fun read. Megan has broken up with her old boyfriend, but he’s too controlling to let her go easily. She is still attracted to him, which seems odd since she’s realized he’s manipulating her. And she is attracted to the other attractive men in town. The setting is lovely and the mystery kept me hooked so that I stayed up late to find out whodunit! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Megan Henny promised her best friend Allie that she'd follow her dreams - dreams that took her away to the town of Seacrest and a new store, a new home and a new life. A body is found at a nearby construction site, leaving everyone as a suspect. Can Megan determine who is a friend and who is a foe in time to solve the murder?
This was a great mystery as red herrings were all over the place and I really enjoy the escapism provided by the plot. I do wish there had been more care taken with the editing as there were several typos. Also, my copy had a central character's name switched back and forth between Fred and Frank. Despite the errors, I'm quite ready to follow Megan on another adventure.
I didn't realize when I started this book I had already read another of her series starters, and was not impressed. (The Secret of Poppyridge Cove)
I'm not sure what "waterfront" adds to the title. Yes, we learn the village is near the water, but ....
None of the characters are well thought out; all are very two-dimensional. Santiago's mystery is left hanging, though I'll grant this is only Book 1, and it appears to be the subject of the next. One section is written from another character's point of view. Only one. It's quite out of place.
The number of word misuses is astonishing in one who has published so many novels. Perhaps her next effort should be to enlist the help of a copyeditor - or at least a proofreader.
Megan moves to Seacrest to get away from everyone and everything to start fresh after she loses her best friend. A flash flood damages everything she has, but neighbors and new friends, as well as a great dane dog, seem to give her stability. When a murder happens, she gets involved to help figure it out, making her rethink those new friends and neighbors. Love the characters and the mystery keeps you guessing up until the very end. The twists, surprises, hidden agendas and even a little romance makes this a delightful read. Can not wait to read more of this group.

Megan has left her controlling fiancé and moved to the sweet coastal town of Seacrest where she has opened a shop and hopes to rent scooters to tourists! But she has barely opened when her house is flood-damaged and her shop vandalized, the scooters stolen. It seem the town has been plagued with bouts of vandalism recently. When she starts to look into things, nothing seems to be adding up. She’s made new friends but begins to wonder who she can trust. Lots of unpredictable twists to keep your interest! Her best friend is a lost Great Dane her friend Santiago has named Fred, as he dances on his feet like Astair!
A young woman’s lifetime friend dies of cancer and she decides to follow her dreams of moving a to Seacrest, a small seaside villainess and open a scooter rental store. They had planned to do this together and she feels she must do it for her friend. One the first day the store is open it is a little slow but that is to be expected. Being vandalized that same evening and having her scooters stolen isn’t. Then there is a murder in town and more places are vandalized. What is going on in this little town? Our heroine gets drawn in to investigating when her new friend Santiago disappears. But who to trust? A bit slow but overall a well thought out plot.
Megan Henny’s grand opening of her scooter rental shop in a Pacific Northwest waterfront town is off to a running start…literally. She chases a would-be purse snatcher out of her shop only to discover he is a billionaire who is pranking his cousin. But things turn more serious when a body is found at the construction site of a high-end housing development bankrolled by the billionaire.
This is a well-written story chock full of interesting and well-developed characters. In addition to the billionaire, there’s the British bookseller, the handsome fireman, the flirtatious college student, and my favorite charater of all, a stray Great Dane named Fred.
There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end in one of the subplots, but the main mystery involves several twists and turns that come to a satisfying ending. And I mostly forgave the cliffhanger when I realized it’s a set-up for the mystery in Book 2.
A Doggone Waterfront Shame is an outstanding start of a new series of cozy murders. This well plotted mystery kept my attention throughout. Megan certainly has a wild introduction to Seacrest. Megan is spunky and determined, but I think my favorite character just may be Fred, the dog! I do not want to give anything away so I will just say that not everything is what it appears to be. But I like the town of Seacrest and its shop owners. I am eagerly awaiting the next book because I also like Santiago, the flirty college student with secrets of his own.
Megan loves Seacrest but when her home and shop are ravaged by the storm she is about to give up on her dream of starting her own business. Unexpected allies come to her aid to restore her home and shop. Megan adopts a stray whom she names Fred. He becomes her protector and best friend. Then there is a murder and Megan's curiosity almost gets her killed. A well crafted plot with jaw dropping twists and a lot of humour.

A Doggone Waterfront Shame is a mystery story with a cute great Dane as one of the stars. It is a generally good story, but has a somewhat complicated mix of characters. It also is a story involving billionaires, so the small town effect is overshadowed by money and billionaires. The young woman, Megan, who is at the center of the story, and is looking for a new start in this small village, gets caught up in solving mysterious goings on in town, including murder, vandalism and theft.
This book was fun and yet a good mystery. There were some rather easy things to figure out, but some surprises too. And there were some grammatical errors, but that might be attributed to the Kindle edition. But all in all, the story was good. At least not another unbelievable small town murder mystery. The author at least made it enjoyable and believable. Looking forward to the next book!
A Doggone Waterfront Shame is the second installment of the Megan Henry Cozy Mystery Series written by Rimmy London. This is a fun and engaging book, mostly due to Megan, a lovable Fred, and a lot of the people they meet being really likable, fun to get to know despite flood, murder, and some serious questions about what kind of town Seacrest really is. This series is off to a great start with memorable characters and a good story line. You never know what to expect!
I enjoyed this book. It is a good mystery with fun characters and a good plot. I liked the fact the protagonist just keep sticking in there and not letting the vandals or her ex boyfriend stop her She faced a lot of set backs and found a new friend in the unlikeliest of ways. She is cautious, yet able to reveal herself to certain people and would be a great friend in real life. I definitely recommend this book.
This is a good start for anew series. Megan has so much to deal with. Vandalism, theft murder, a huge dog she’s afraid of, but none of this slows her down. Fred is delightful. He plays a big role in this story. Megan seems to stumble into answers. I had absolutely no idea who the perpetrator was until the end.

I've read several books written by Rimmy London; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the first book in the Megan Henny Cozy Mysteries Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Megan; she finds clues about the body found at the construction site which puts her in danger.

After finishing nursing school and saying no to the proposal from Jarron, Megan moves to Seacrest where she buys a house on the beach, and a business space on Saltwater Lane, Seacrest's main street. Her first time seeing the actual business, Megan hears "Stop thief" and takes off chasing the man with the purse. Kenneth never expected to be chased when his cousin yelled. This story includes a murder, vandalism, arson, and romance, ending happily. Very highly recommended.
Megan moves to a new place where her new house floods, her shop gets broken into after one day, and someone gets murdered. And she still has time for a love triangle.
I liked that Megan was initially afraid of dogs, but she still ended up bonding with and adopting a stray. It was an okay book, though I found it a bit slow, especially the beginning. Also, Megan as an amateur "detective" definitely does a few stupid things that she could have gotten killed or arrested for.
I received this book as a freebie in return for an honest review. Loved this book. Enjoyed the story unfolding. The main character, Megan, has left her controlled life behind and is doing something she's always wanted to do. Her best friend had passed away and had made Megan promise to follow her dreams and not just play safe. So that's what she did. After a gut wrenching start, things finally start to look up and life is worth living. Will look forward to reading more stories in this series.
This was an absolutely great book. Character development and plot are excellent. Our protagonist is a young woman who has a change of lifestyle after a significant loss in h her life. Through the story, we find that she is a hard worker and a smart woman who is able to stand up for herself and others. I’m sincerely hoping that we see additions to this series sooner rather than later. You’ll love the characters who we are just learning about as well as the main characters. Do yourself a big favor and invest in this series. I highly recommend it.

Megan moves to Seacrest to start a new business and escape from her ex-boyfriend after her best friend's death. Although she is afraid of dogsm she finds herself drawn to and adopting Fred, a Great Dane. Lots happening in Seacrest - vandalism, murder and more, and Megan and Fred find themselvesin the middle.
This book has plenty of action, mystery, and murder. Megan wasn't sure who she could trust after a dead body was found on a construction site where expensive houses were being built.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's definitely worth reading.
I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.
I am so excited about this new series. I am already in love with Fred. There is a great cast of characters and plenty of twists and turns. It was fun following Megan around and I loved the mystery and couldn't put it down! Amazing read, can't wait for the next book.

I liked this book because it had lots of good characters and a great storyline. Megan was an interesting woman who matured as she got involved in the mysterious happenings around her. I adored Fred and his faithfulness towards Megan. I am going to read the next book as soon as I can.
