Rate this book
In a bid to escape the incessant attentions of a man she does not love, governess Lucy Hayes embarks on a journey to begin a new post. But when she’s stranded in a storm, her plans go shockingly awry. Desperate times call for desperate measures: against her better judgment, she agrees to a foolhardy scheme presented by a handsome stranger, known to her as only William. But when her mysterious benefactor falls ill, she finds herself unwittingly drawn into his family home in a case of mistaken identity: they believe she is William’s betrothed. Though she realizes she should admit the truth, the family’s warmth and welcome make it all too easy to play along, just for a while. Until she meets Baron Lord Simon Calloway, William’s older brother.

Simon is suspicious of his lovely future sister-in-law, a woman who seems completely unsuited to his self-important brother. As they wait for William to awake, Simon and Lucy are drawn ever closer together. But danger draws closer too, in the form of her unwanted suitor. Lucy knows that when Simon discovers the truth, he will despise her. Now she must find a way to keep herself safe . . . and avoid falling hopelessly in love with a man she can never have.

Simon has my heart. 😍 Any of you While You Were Sleeping fans? It’s been a favorite movie of mine for years and Dana did a retelling of it…but during the regency era! *Sigh* Staying true to the story, you’ll recognize some names, themes, and actions that happened in the movie. Except Dana made this all her own with the plot, conflict, and twist in how to take a beloved movie and turn it into a book in a different era.

I’m a fan. 😁 Soooo hope this becomes a series. Just saying.

Definitely one to keep an eye out for. Loved it and love Dana even more!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A regency retelling of While You Were Sleeping? This book is just as adorable as you would expect and more!

Alone in the world and desperate to escape an unwanted suitor, Lucy agrees to help from a handsome gentleman who comes to her aid by pretending they are married. He soon falls ill, however, and when Lucy accompanies the sick rescuer back to his home, his family mistakenly believes that they are engaged.

Given their warm welcome and her need to escape the man looking for her, Lucy does not correct their assumptions. But what Lucy does not count on is William’s older brother Simon…

I absolutely loved the chemistry between Lucy and Simon. Oh. my. Swoon. The angst and emotion and chemistry were so well done! And oh my, that first kiss was explosive!! I loved all the nods to the movie - Nicholas is the perfect Saul! - but also the unexpected plot twists that made this book all it’s own.

I adored each and every page and the last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat. This book was utterly unputdownable and I binged the entire thing in one sitting! Trust me, my friends. If you enjoy sweet romance AT ALL, you need to pick up this book and then prepare your heart to be melted into a happy little puddle!! All the hearts and stars for this one!!!!

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

Such a darling story indeed! As so many other writers have commented, it most certainly is a nod indeed to the While You Were Sleeping movie :D So many parallels as one would imagine, a feel good book that I stayed up rather late to finish regardless. No spiritual elements per say but a charming and wholesome book to gladly recommend to anyone who has enjoyed that awesome ,favourite movie years ago (or recently) and would like a "aww" feeling. It certainly reflected on the Jane Austen style too being set in the early 1800s. I did feel kind of wondering I suppose I will call it though, about a puzzling side character.....(Nick) maybe it's just me? But overall a sweet story!

Just what I needed.

There are times when I feel overwhelmed and struggle to perform my usual tasks. Reading "What Dreams May Come" reminded me of the joy that comes from reading.

Lucy and Simon started off on the wrong foot. They met while she was living surrounded by falsehood. Simon's family believed that she was the fiancee of Simon's brother. Circumstances forced her to let his family believe this untruth, she needed to hide from a man intent on marrying her. A man who scared her.

This book may remind you of the movie 'While You Were Sleeping ". It has a few of the same ideas, but I love this book more.

I loved the characters. I loved the time period and I loved the banter. This is a sweet story. One that took me past my troubles and brought hours of enjoyment.

Be still, my beating heart! One of my very favorite movies in college was WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING and this story was the perfect mashup of that movie and a Regency romance. This author closely follows that story, while tossing in perfectly wonderful elements unique to the times and to her tale, making it her own.

Lucy is being pursued by an unwanted suitor and William steps in to rescue her and then suddenly falls ill to a fever. His grumpy and fussy brother, Simon, arrives and all sparks break loose. LeCheminant does a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life! I especially loved the nearly dandy friend, Nick, and I'm desperately hoping for him to get a book. But honestly, the whole crew was delightful, beloved, and entertaining.

I loved the slight hints of danger as Lucy tries to evade Mr. Granger, I devoured the friendship between sister Olivia and Lucy, and I was captivated by the interactions between Simon and Lucy. I was also taken by surprise by the ending and couldn't stop smiling.

Such a sweet, fun, and reminiscent story!

Content: mild moments of peril; mild romance (kissing, light innuendo)

Okay…I genuinely don’t know how to feel about this book. Knowing it’s based off While You Were Sleeping was the biggest draw for me, and I went in super excited (because let’s be honest it’s one of the greatest movies ever!). And yes, I know the story line is based on assumptions, lies of omission, mistaken identity, and a bit of miscommunication, so I’d like to say I was prepared going into this book, and I guess I was, but man…this book was honestly so frustrating for me.
While the romance was sweet, I could not stand the back and forth and back and forth of Lucy deciding whether to tell the truth or not. It was okay the first bit, but it kept going and going and was truly frustrating for me. Again, I get why and I totally understand the reasons for telling/not telling the truth, but it just continued to the point of irritation for me. Especially when she gave snippets of the truth or opened up a bit to others, it was irritating when she would be upset knowing she could easily fix the problem.
I hate, hate, HATE leaving not positive reviews (I honestly only like to build authors up because it can’t be easy putting your soul out there in the form of a book/story), but this, for me, was a big enough issue to express how I truly feel. This book had so much potential and is based on one of my favorite movies so I was so excited and I hated that I had to force myself to read it sometimes.
But there are parts/aspects I did enjoy!
My absolute favorite part and, for me, the redeeming quality, was the last two chapters and epilogue of the book. Lucy and Simon finally have everything out in the open and were able to truly be with each other. Dana does a great job, despite what’s said above, of building the chemistry and romantic tension between Simon and Lucy. I also loved how she created such a warm and loving family for Lucy to get to know, especially with her past. Plus the reference to her other regency book was fun.
I truly hope we get Nick’s story! I will gladly always pick up a book by Dana and can’t wait for her next regency story!

Who doesn't love and adore the movie, While You Were Sleeping? It's such a delightful movie full of great characters, fantastic lines ("It looks like he's leaning"), hilarious moments, emotions, great focus on family and finding true love! Sooo good!!! If you're a fan like me (and many, many others) and you love Regency stories, then you're in for a treat with Dana LeCheminant's newest book.

Lucy finds herself alone in the world and trying to escape a man who is not to her liking. But unfortunately her best laid plans go awry. Stranded at an inn due to weather, and avoiding the very many she's trying to escape, her rescuer comes in the form of William. Who offers her a facade of being married. He'll protect her. Hesitantly she accepts, he falls ill and she's good enough to get home safely home to his mother. What ensues is pure comedy. Of course you're familiar with all of that if you're familiar with the movie I mentioned above. Poor Lucy is pulled into this loving and caring family and tries not to deceive them but things happen, assumptions are made and bam! She's William's fiancee. Good luck with that Lucy!

I loved all of the nods and similarities to While You Were Sleeping. But at the same time, the author made it her own and created a delightful story for readers. I loved this family that Lucy finds herself deceiving. Again, poor girl. She attempts to reveal her subterfuge but more layers and layers to her struggles add up and have her holding her tongue. And let's just say that William's brother, Simon, doesn't help matters any either. Seriously you're going to love the dynamics between these two. The chemistry was very well done! I loved their story so much. And I loved the ending!!! Lots of heart eyes for it!

Grab your copy and follow along Lucy's journey of discovery, as she comes to know what family and love really mean.

Content: Clean. Some moments of mild suspense and peril. Some kisses but nothing further.

I received a copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

A regency version of While You Were Sleeping? Yes, Please!

'Somehow she had become a man's betrothed in the course of a day. And not just any man! The brother of a baron. A wealthy baron at that. The kind of man who could ruin what little life Lucy had, no matter how warm his smiles.'

Oh Lucy.

It doesn't matter if she's in a romantic comedy from 1995 or a regency novel set in 1815. Lucy gets herself in an interesting predicament and I'll be honest...no matter the version, I am here for this storyline!

I loved the similarities and also loved the differences the author used to make this more regency appropriate and still be it's own story. The mild suspense and twists and turns were fun to discover along the way. The similar vibes are real, but seeing Lucy and Lord Calloway discover friendship (and more) while not being able to do anything about it was fun to watch as it all unraveled with the hopes it would be tied up nice and tight with how we all wanted it to end!

'Never would he have thought a woman would be his undoing. Not just any woman. His brother's betrothed. His future sister-in-law.'

This was a fun relaxing read with so many tender and heartwarming scenes! If you are looking for an enjoyable historical romance that will make you smile this a good one to choose!!

Thanks to the author and publisher for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Content/Trigger: Deceit with good intentions. Mild suspense. Loveable Family. Kissing.

All the love for this book! While You Were Sleeping is a favorite movie, so when I heard Dana LeCheminant was writing a Regency romance based on it, I had to pick it up. It was everything I hoped for and more! The fabulous characters, swoony romance, and clever twist on the classic movie made it unputdownable. While there are several nods to the movie While You Were Sleeping fans will recognize, it’s its own unique story that I soon became blissfully lost in.

After her father’s death, Lucy Hayes was forced to take on a governess position. When her employer’s overbearing brother Mr. Granger won’t leave her alone, she quickly leaves for a new position. Unfortunately, a storm interrupts her travel, and when the very man she’s trying to escape shows up at the inn where she’s seeking shelter, she calls on the good graces of a stranger.

William Calloway readily agrees to help her by claiming she’s his wife. Suddenly, the handsome man collapses with a terrible fever, and before she realizes it, Lucy is accompanying him to his home where she’s greeted as his wife. Lucy corrects his family’s misunderstanding, but her friend who’s accompanying her tells them she’s his fiancée instead. The loving kindness she receives from the family makes it extremely difficult for her to tell them the truth, especially when their affection and acceptance is what she’s always longed for, and Mr. Granger still remains a threat.

When WIlliam’s older brother Lord Simon Calloway arrives, he’s immediately suspicious of Lucy. After all, she’s not the typical woman his brother would choose. He soon finds himself hopelessly attracted to his brother’s fiancée and tries his best to hide his growing feelings. Lucy is drawn to Simon as well and hopes when William wakes up and the truth is revealed, Simon will still care for her.

I loved Lucy & Simon! I couldn’t help but picture Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman as the main characters. Their chemistry was undeniable and I loved the pond scene and every interaction they had. Poor Simon struggles so hard not fall in love with Lucy. He was so endearing and I loved how thoughtful he was and the way he listens to Lucy. I also loved Simon’s best friend Nick who is full of mischief. I’m hoping we’ll get his story!

The whole book is fantastic with a suspenseful ending that kept me reading late into the night. It’s a delightful, sweet, original romance fans of the movie and Regency romance will adore! Highly recommend. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are completely my own and voluntarily given.

I loved how this book is based on one of favorite films While You Were Sleeping. It was such a fun concept knowing this when I first started reading but the author does a fantastic job with the characters and making the story her own.
Lucy is wonderful. She holds her own but is also timid. She is thrown into a situation with William’s family thinking they are engaged. All while he is unconscious from a fever. The family immediately take her in as one of their own. Simon has his suspicions, but he is taken with her too. I adored how Simons and Lucy's relationship developed. I also enjoyed how Lucy helped Simon with his business dealings with sound advice. The scenes at the pond with Lucy and Simon were my favorites. I read them several times. They brought out the best of Simon and allowed Lucy to feel more herself. Then we had skipping stones and falling in the pond, but many times Lucy's guilt would get the best of her. She truly was a great person. Mr. Granger was absolutely awful, creepy in fact. Mrs. Calloway and Olivia were also wonderful.

So I say I don’t seek out direct retellings or highly referential versions of other media, and yet, I saw a fellow reader proclaim this as a Regency version of the romcom masterpiece “While You Were Sleeping”, and my “Stamp on my passport” fan finger immediately clicked request. Accepting full well a reference lets you know there will be aspects you love, but also that comparison is as highly probable as predisposition and can work against it.
For me, the former was what had it at a 5 stars for most of it, and then the latter I feel affected my reaction to the third act, which dropped to a 3, so we’ll average out to 4.
This was my first book from this author, and I would read on.

My intention has been to qualify this story on its own merit, but you’re sure to see the WYWS comparison everywhere (and I couldn’t shake it while reading), so here’s how it measured up for me. With such a strong reference, it’s better to manage expectations: The premise of stumbling into a fake engagement with a man in a coma is there, the alone-in-the-world charming heroine is there, the instant connection and spark with Coma Guy’s crinkly-smiled, practically-minded, responsability-burdened, protective brother is most certainly there. The stakes are raised in this Regency class difference context (which worked very well for me), there’s plenty internal conflicty angst plus a villain. Of course there are deceptions and misunderstandings, but you get more of an arc, and our couple is more complementary competence-wise. I’ll go ahead an confirm the Accidental Embrace moment is there. The lovely finding-home and family themes are there, just don‘t expect any “These mashed potatoes are so creamy” zanyness from the Calloways to balance out some of the guilt angst.

And this is where my head-scratching started. I get both MCs are grappling with their struggles here, but some reactions/decisions had me a little confused. These two highly-anxious sweethearts had me thinking they better have a self-care/therapy holiday in their near future, because, without some more light-hearted moments to balance it out, it was a bit much. So, though I love a third act freak-out, with the reveals pacing choices, by the time it came around I was a little over it, and the resolution sadly fell a little flat for me. Buuut, though I prefer more of a time jump, I felt the epilogue covered the bases well of showing their blissful HEA with Simon as wonderfully undone by her as ever and setting up for enigmatic Forester’s convenient marriage (gimme!).

If you can recognize the line “I said Cesar Romero was tall” AND you read Regency romance, I think you’d have good fun here.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.

Content notes: kissing only, mention of unwanted advances.

This is a retelling of a While You Were Sleeping "regency style". I love that movie. I could watch it every Christmas and so I was super happy to see that my favorite book genre had a retelling. Lucy was a great character. The storyline was awesome. It was a little hard to believe that the brother was asleep for so long because of a fever. But overall I really enjoyed this book. My three stars are because there was so much repetition of thought. Both of them had too much repetitive internal thoughts that were the same thing over and over. I like that it was unique and had its own storyline and didn't copy the movie.

Where do I even start with this? I absolutely loved it so much and can already tell I’ll be rereading it asap!

I love me a dual point of view. It’s my absolute favorite.
Also love angst just a few chapters in. I’m a glutton for punishment. I hate angst in real life. Give it to me in a book and I’m SOLD.

Witty. Charming. Lovely. Are some of the words that come to mind.

It was so good!!! I loved it all. Simon and Lucy were just perfect! This story was everything I wanted it to be and more. The plot was well done and the characters worked so well.

This was a fantastic read for me! It had been at the top of my TBR pile due to the fact it's retelling of one of my all-time favorite movies "While You Were Sleeping." I loved this take on that plot; however I also saw shades of another favorite movie of mine "Sabrina," to me this story has influences of both movies-or at least elements that reminded me of Sabrina-mostly the character of Simon. I loved everything about this story-it's definitely more angsty than the movie but there's also a danger element in this story that isn't in the original movie. There are definite differences between the movie and this book and the changes helped make this a book I could not put down. Loved this one and I need more books with these characters!! I really hope those characters get their own stories!

Little did Lucy Hayes know what a mess she'd find herself in when she left her governess position because of unwanted attention from Mr. Granger. Forced to stop at a traveling inn because of a storm, Lucy panics when she sees Mr. Granger come in also seeking shelter from the weather, and asks for help from a stranger, named William, who tells the innkeeper they're married. Before she has time to settle in to the room, William falls ill with "the worst fever" the doctor had ever seen. Upon arrival at William's home Lucy is shocked to discover the innkeeper had sent a note ahead of their arrival saying William was coming home with a wife!!

It was fun seeing all the similarities to the movie "While You Were Sleeping", and the differences because of society's restrictions during that time period. I loved how the Calloway family, especially the mother and Olivia, accepted Lucy. They were ready to love and accept her just because she was Williams wife or fiancée. I loved all Simon and Lucy's interactions as Simon hadn't met someone like Lucy before. He tends to be grumpy but Lucy is able to get him to lighten up. I loved the scenes of them at the pond--Simon seemed like a different person when he was there.

I loved Simon's best friend Nick so much!! There's so much more to his character and he needs to get his own story! I liked the suspense Mr. Granger added although I must've shouted "just spill the beans and tell the family everything!" at Lucy a dozen times. Of course she didn't listen and I was compelled to keep turning pages to see how everything would be resolved.

If you like close proximity and mistaken identity I highly recommend this regency romance. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher but also bought an ebook for my personal library. All thoughts expressed in this review are my own.

I am a huge fan of both the movie While You Were Sleeping and Dana LeCheminant books so this regency retelling of the movie was a must read for me! It was everything I expected and more!

This book has all the vibes of the movie but also a uniqueness that makes it its own! When Lucy tries to escape an unwanted suitor she runs into a man who helps her by pretending they are married. When William falls ill, Lucy takes the sick man home where his family believes they are engaged. William's family is everything Lucy needs and so welcoming to her that she decides to pretend she is engaged to William for the time being. What she doesn’t count on is an attraction and friendship with his brother Simon.

I absolutely adored Simon and Lucy together. Simon was such a great character. Although he was very suspicious of the situation between William and Lucy he enjoys spending time getting to know her. Lucy is so kind and feels so guilty about having to keep this secret from Simon and his family. The chemistry between Simon and Lucy is undeniable and I swooned so many times reading this. The kiss scenes were amazing! Oh and the pond scene was one of my favorites!

If you are a romance lover this is a book you will want to binge. I highly recommend it!

I LOVED this book!! It was reminiscent of the movie, 'While You Were Sleeping', but it was enough different that you didn't feel as if someone re-wrote the movie into a book. It had original characters and an altered plot. It was very captivating and hard to put down.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

This book was everything I wanted in a "While You Were Sleeping" retelling and more! I was curious as to how the While You Were Sleeping story would translate to Regency England, but Dana LeCheminant masterfully took the basic elements of that story and created something new and refreshing.

Like Lucy, I fell hard for the Calloway family. For a character who has had a hard road, I loved that Lucy had a strength that made you want to cheer for her instead of pity her. And Simon! Well, if I had a book boyfriend apartment building, he'd be renting the penthouse for free.

A huge thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for an advanced copy to review. I was not required to leave a positive review and all opinions are my own.

PS- My opinion is you should pick this book up ASAP.

Okay friends. We're back with another round of "why in the world did it take me so long to read this book?!" What Dreams May Come is such a cute story and I seriously don't know why it took me so long to get to it.

Lucy and Simon were perfect for each other. I loved how Simon made Lucy feel safe and protected, while Lucy helped Simon feel less burdened and prioritize taking time to relax. I'm pretty sure them skipping rocks at the pond was my favorite.

I'm pretty sure I also need books for Nick and Olivia as well. They were awesome side characters and they both also deserve stories of their own. Dana, take note 😉 also, for the record, Mr. Granger deserves a kick to the shins. That guy just cannot take a hint.

Moral of the story here is that y'all need this book in your lives. Don't be like me and leave it on your TBR list for forever. Get you a copy quick, then read it and love it and thank me when you're done. You're welcome.

What a mess Lucy is in! She is kept safe with the family of William, but she knows it is temporary. For Simon it's a case of forbidden love as he thinks that Lucy is his brother's fiancee. It's all very While You Were Sleeping, and the author even slipped in some well-known quotes from the movie as well as similar characters and scenes. It was interesting to see the modern story applied to Regency times, with the differences in the way society worked and the roles of women and men. Lucy struggles with the deception, but self-preservation ultimately keeps her from confiding in Simon, even after they develop a friendship and attraction. It was an entertaining read, but I don't think the nods to the original story were subtle enough for me. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series which is a Regency take on You've Got Mail.

Read it for the:
- While you were sleeping retelling
- found family themes
- meddling friends and family
- Dual POV

Steam/Romance: Clean - kissing only
Content: Unwanted advances
Final rating: 3.5 / 5

I love Dana LeCheminant’s writing and While you were sleeping is one of my favorite movies. Pair these two together and add a regency twist, and you have a solid read!

I enjoyed this book and the could see the influence of the film on the plot. I appreciated that the author added enough of her own twists to keep the story entertaining and fresh. While the first half of the book built up the plot, the second half really held my attention. The main romance between Simon and Lucy was sweet, with just enough angst to add emotion. The book differed from the movie in that there are not many humorous situations, which I think made sense for the overall tone. I loved the secondary characters, especially the complex character, Nick. I also understood and respected the author's choice in the way the famous “fiance” lie progressed. The regency setting posed a challenge, but I found the situation in the novel believable.

I was very conflicted about the rating because it was an overall enjoyable story but the only thing I had difficulty with was Lucy’s character. She was very sensitive, and a slight pushover, despite the claims of being strong-willed by others. I would have liked to see her fight or stand up for herself more in certain situations.

Other than this, it was a solid read!

Who doesn’t LOVE the movie, While You Were Sleeping?? It’s a classic!
When I learned this book was going to be a Regency retelling of it, I had to read it! And I already love Dana’s writing so it was a no-brainer.

This book was everything that you love about While You Were Sleeping while still being it’s own story! I didn’t want to put it down!

Lucy was so sweet and lovable. She had nothing but the best of intentions and was very honest despite the lie she got stuck in.
She was a great counterpart to Simon!
Ahhh… Simon… I loooooooooved him! I loved how taken with Lucy he was and how good to her he was throughout the book.
The angst, the tension, the chemistry between them was 😘🤌🏻 Perfection!
They had so many good moments and their ending was 😍😍😍

I loved all the side characters too! The Calloway women were so sweet! They took Lucy in and made her a part of their family and it was so beautiful to watch.
Then, of course, there’s Nick! He was hilarious, confusing, interesting, kind… He was a perfect “Saul” character! I must have a book for him. After that Epilogue, I have SO MANY questions!!!

I 100% recommend picking this book up! It will warm your heart and that ending will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go queue up While You We’re Sleeping for a rewatch! 😉♥️

This was my first book by this author and I was excited to get an ARC to discover what everyone else loves. There was a lot to love! These are my thoughts!

Simon is carrying the burden of his father’s estate. Lucy is escaping a horrible man. William protects her with a lie. And that lie becomes the driving point of the story.

It’s kind of a regency retelling of While You Were Sleeping and what’s not to love about that?

No spoilers. Just a couple of notes. The author does a fantastic job bleeding our hearts for these characters. Lucy desires acceptance and love. So does William. And Simon. Doesn’t everyone? Feeling their angst and pain and hoping for everyone to find some happiness kept me turning pages quickly. And there IS happiness! Swoony sweet happiness. I’m hoping there will be more stories to follow about Olivia and maybe Nick?

Be sure to give some love to the gorgeous cover. It might be just a start but @authordanalecheminant now has my reading heart.

A solid 3 1/2.

Lucy is on her way to a new governess position to flee unwanted attentions and accepts a plan to pretend she's engaged to a stranger. But she stranger falls sick and Lucy and her maid end up in his home with his family where she meets his older brother.

There's a lot of back and forth and at times Lucy is frustrating. The family was great and I liked them a lot.

It's a sweet story of found family and the ending is cute.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

The story idea is a good one and the characters are enjoyable. Most of the writing is good and there are some lovely scenes. I appreciate that it is clean and presents a positive view of family and marriage.

At times the dialogue and character ruminating is overly dramatic and cheesy. I struggle to believe some of the “logic” behind the reasons for the situations the characters are in. The repeated use of certain phrases bothers me (“pulled her into an embrace”). It is an average read for me, but I have hope for this author as she further develops her skill.

4 stars may be generous but there were parts I loved and other parts that drove me crazy. The parts that drove me crazy can be summed up in this one line from the book: “Sometimes you are so blinded by your insecurities that you can’t see your own value so you have to let others see it for you”. I did like all of the characters when they weren’t in crazy mode. I loved Nick and Olivia. I liked Lucy and her maid. Some of the time I really liked Simon. Definitely worth the read but if you listen on audio, turn up the speed so the crazy parts go by fast.

This was a regency spin of While You Were Sleeping. It was pretty cute. A bit cheesy in spots but that was to be expected. I felt like the author tried to over justify a few things and I didn't like the bad guy and how easy she was manipulated by him but it was still a fun story. The end leaves a few things hanging. I wonder if there is a sequel.

I loved this story. Lucy and Simon were wonderful. I love the Regency take on the movie, While you Were Sleeping. This retelling was magical.

This was a delightful retelling that hit the high notes of the original movie with its own Regency flair. Lucy and Simon were beautifully written and perfectly flawed.

Lucy's real concerns and Simon's need to care for his family, all while her supposed fiance is fighting a fever. The story is so well written and has some elements of a comedy of errors, but paves the way for Lucy to have something real that she has never had before.

The characters are rich, especially the side characters. Nick is one of my favorite characters. He adds humor and and depth to the story and gave it a richness that added to the fullness of the story.

Dana LeCheminant does a beautiful retelling of this movie that I have loved for many years. This book brings it into the Regency world I love. This was a fabulous book and I look forward to reading again.
