When Marc first starts sixth grade, he is convinced that the easiest way to survive is by being as quiet and inconspicuous as possible. But when his class, 6-321, becomes involved in a senseless feud with another class, he is forced to question this strategy. Suddenly everything he took for granted seems to be changing before his the quiet girl he has a crush on turns out to be a rebel in disguise, and the class rebel turns into a respected leader. Before Marc lets everything that matters to him slip away, he must realize that staying invisible isn't going to help him change things--and that he has more power in him than he ever could have imagined.
This story is set in 1960s New York. The main character goes through some tough times in 6th grade, and I think this will read as good historical fiction for today’s teens.
I really like the way the author had wrote this book. This really reminded me about my 5th grade in Canada (when really is about 6th grade). I think the point of view was hard for the author to find because he had said he searched for lots information and went in his past to find all of this stuff. It's pretty amazing how all the events in the book had all something to do with his life. I wished I've read the one with the non-edited "stuff" in the book. I really loved the plot of this book, and I think the author putted a lot of effort in to this book. Anybody who is going in 6th grade BETTER read this book.
Homework book #1. I read this because it is geared toward the same aged reader as my novel, and I need to read more of this type of novel as I work on my next book. This had a predicatble tie-in with the JFK assassination, but it was still well-done. The book has a nice first-person voice, and many nice details from that era.
I think this was actually pretty good! It is very interesting- also, it is realistic in so many ways. It makes me like I was actually sitting there watching all this happen to Marc.
