Leading designer Zoe Mellor returns with an adorable collection of classic and contemporary bootees for the beautifully shod baby, newborn to 18 months.
The patterns in this book are adorable and easy for an experienced knitter. I've knit three different booties and all turned out perfectly - the instructions were very very clear. I'd have given the book 5 stars if it really had 50 different bootees. Instead of writing her patterns with size changes in parentheses like most do, different sizes or different stitch patterns are split out into different patterns. One thing I do like is the baby footprints on the back of the book so you can just put your baby's foot on the book and know what size to knit!
There were some cute patterns in this book. I appreciated how many different varieties there were and the colors and styles. There was a lot to choose from. I saw one or two patterns that I might want to knit in the future. I'd recommend for someone who wanted something quick and cute to knit for a new baby.
Very cute patterns! As a seam hater, I wanted to warn people there are several sock patterns which are knit in the round, but the booties and "shoes" are knit flat and seamed up. The patterns are nice enough I've made a couple pairs and will undoubtedly knit more, despite the finishing hassle. The book itself is well put together with big colorful photos and the always appreciated, lay-flat spiral binding. The foot outlines on the back of the book to check baby foot sizing are a great idea.
I knitted a couple of pairs of bootees from this book. The contrast-edge slippers. The rest of the patterns were beautiful, but too complicated to knit for quickly for a baby that might only wear them once.
I've made many of the booties in this book and they are adorable! My only complaint is the pointy bottoms, much like the bottom of a boat. Well written directions.
