Several years ago a challenge was given to technology instructor Rick A. Morelan. Take downsized workers with little or no experience with computers or technology and turn them into industry certified technology experts. The proven material from this venture is now available to you as the Joes 2 Pros series of books and videos. This new approach has vivid pictures on almost every page that shows what you should see on your computer screen as you work through the material, and downloadable content, home practice labs, software, and fun review games available from the joes2pros web site. Starting with the basic "What is a Database? " this book helps beginners get comfortable with the SQL language. From there, you will walk step-by-step through the basics. 'Beginning SQL Joes 2 Pros' is the second edition of the popular 'T-SQL Joes 2 Pros' with updated content and a lower price. The language examples in this book can be used with any standard SQL engine. Regardless of your skill level, you too can evolve from "Joe" to "Pro" by following the steps outlined in this book.

The joy I felt reading this book really affirmed my career choices so thanks to whoever left this in the Little Free Library. Some of this is probably outdated since it came out 15 years ago, but still a helpful, clear, and concise introduction to SQL. Bonus points for the most 2000s cover I’ve seen.

I should have read this years ago. I have been using Access sql for some time and often wondered what exactly the specific statements meant (I mostly used Access' point-and-click interface). This book sets out most of what I already knew in concise conceptual terminology. Easy to understand examples and screen-shots, etc. I read it in about 3 nights, jotting down things I didn't know (like the exact functionality of Null) as I went. I would recommend this to anyone who is a beginner at using SQL.

Best Software tutorial book I've ever read. The hands on labs interspersed through the chapters, the resources provided, and the tests at the end of the chapters all build knowledge with a constructivist approach.
Only $8 on the Kindle. I've recommended this in lieu of community college courses to a few of my peers.

Fantastic book! Different from the other, usual books where they explain with boring jargon the meaning of the codes you write. This one instead of explaining, makes you DOING... it's a very hands-on book!!! I wish all other computer books were like this one!
