An informal history of the automobile industry up through the early 1960s. Good background for a complete study of the industry. Rae was not a very good prognosticator since almost none of his trends actually came to be, but then he was a historian not a futurist. Enjoyable read, but really is a history of the industry and not of the automobile itself.
