If you ask a kid what their favorite snack is, most will say pizza, cupcakes, or ice cream. But not Alec Smart—he loves pickles! None of his friends at school understand his taste for pickled treats, nor do his parents. However, one day, just when Alec is pondering how lonely it is to be the only pickle enthusiast around, he comes across a pickle delivery truck and decides to jump in! What will happen when he arrives at the pickle factory? And who will he meet? The lesson learned in this humorous, pickle-filled adventure is that embracing your true colors brings with it special and tasty rewards!
My son who loves pickles says he is this boy! It makes it a fun read when he knows others loves pickles just as much as him. It is a silly and lovable story.
Alec Smart loves pickles in every way shape and form. He can't get enough. He calls them picklicious. No one understands his pickle fascination. One day he climbs aboard a cucumber truck and ends up at the pickle factory. He is caught and brought to the president who wants to hear why Alec loves pickles so much. The president loves his ideas and puts him in the pickle parade.
The illustrations are colorful, reminiscent of the 1970s and fun.
I very much enjoyed this book even though it was simply about a boy who loves pickles. He loves his passion for pickles and sticks with it until he is able to convince others why he could possibly love pickles so much. There is not much of a message other than stick with your passion, but it is good simple silly fun. Recommended for ages 4-8.
The genre of this book is a picture book and is intended for children ages (P) five to eight. This book is about a little boy who loves to eat pickles. He ends up going to a pickle factory where he meets the owner. The owner allows the little boy to do something very special, but you must read the book to find out what it is! This is a cute story to read as a funny bedtime story. If your child has a big imagination, this is the book to read. There isn't really a theme to the story. It's just about a boy who loves pickles. The illustrations are colorful and funny, which would keep the attention of the children. I just didn't like how there wasn't really a message to the story.
My pickle-loving son liked this one. I think it was the made-up word Picklicious that really sold him. For kids with interesting (some might say different) likes, this is a great book.
It was ok. It showed how one little boy was different from everyone else because he loved pickles so much. In the end he ended up being popular and all his friends wanted to eat pickles.
I could tell my parents were annoyed at having to read this book to me 4+ times a day...but I couldn't help it, I was really intrigued by the bright green colors.
Such a cute book! I bought it for my little Lamb (Evelyn age 4) because she loves pickles. This is her new favorite book. She reads it to herself every day.
